The Bosch Benvenuto B20 is a masterful blend of design, usability, and solid good looks. On the top front of the machine, youll find a unique indicator panel thats red backlighting illuminates icons that let you know what function the machine is performing. It will also alert you when its time to refill the 64oz removable reservoir, refill the bean hopper, or run a cleaning or descaling cycle just to name a few. Complementing this simple display are easy-to-use control knobs that allow you to choose to brew anywhere from 1 to 12 oz of coffee per brewing cycle and select one of 6 strength options, so each cup is perfectly customized to suit your personal taste.
Once youve selected your brewing options, just press the Café button to start the B20 grinding the whole beans that youve added to its 8 oz bean hopper. The Benvenutos steel conical burr grinder can be set to 6 different fineness settings, so brewing everything from a café crema to a perfect espresso is as simple as turning a knob and pressing a button. But Bosch knows that everyone likes a little something different, so theyve also included the ability for you to brew using up to 14 grams of preground coffee in the machines bypass doser. No matter if you use preground or freshly ground coffee, the Bosch takes the grounds and preinfuses them before brewing using AromaSwirl technology for a better tasting coffee. When youre ready to top off that fresh brew, just turn the machines function selector knob to the steaming position and, thanks to its 2 stainless steel-lined thermoblock boilers, youll instantaneously be able to use the B20s dual position steam wand to create mountains of creamy frothed milk
The Bosch B20 makes it easy to brew, but even easier to clean up. After brewing, spent grounds are automatically ejected into an internal dump box for later disposal, and when it needs to be emptied, the B20s indicator panel will let you know. This display center will also tell you when the machine needs to be cleaned or descaled both of which are extremely easy processes thanks to dedicated cleaning and descaling buttons right on the front of the espresso machine. And just when you thought it couldnt get any easier, Bosch made this espresso coffee maker with a built-in Claris water filtration system that allows you to avoid descaling altogether when its used properly.
Included with the Bosch Benvenuto B20 is a Claris water filter, 2 cleaning tablets, a coffee scoop, a water hardness test strip, and a detailed instruction manual.
The utilitarian Bosch Benvenuto B20 is at your service for all types of coffee drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, and everyday americanos, and can even be used for non-coffee beverages, like tea and hot chocolate. Brewing at 8-9 atmospheres of pressure, the B20 is also perfect for making the increasingly popular café crema, a delicious concoction that utilizes one espresso shot but is brewed to fill a full cup.
If you have 35 seconds, then you can have a mouth-watering specialty drink. Push the Café button on the Bosch Benvenuto B20 and let the machine do the rest, including grinding and tamping the beans and producing an espresso based on the brew strength you select. This super automatic goes one step further and dumps the used grounds in a dump box inside the machine, which is easily removable for disposal.
The backlit central indicator panel takes the guesswork out of many of the B20s maintenance functions by displaying red icons that tell you when its time to refill the reservoir and bean hopper. It also tells you when the machine needs to be cleaned or descaled, and both these operations are managed with their own push buttons located within easy reach on the front of the machine.
Making coffee that suits your particular tastes is easy with the Bosch Benvenuto B20. Use the simple control knobs to choose one of sixth strength options and select from brewing 1 to 12 ounces of coffee.
Youre practically guaranteed a flavorful cup of coffee with Boschs AromaSwirl technology, which first preinfuses the grounds with just the right amount of water and then tamps them perfectly to ensure maximum flavor extraction.
The Bosch Benvenuto B20 gives you the added flexibility of using up to 14 grams of preground decaf or flavored coffee in a bypass doser. The bypass doser channels the coffee away from the grinder and lets you experiment with different coffees or make espresso for a guest or family member who doesnt care for your regular brew.
The conical burr grinder in the Benvenuto B20 is commercial-grade quality steel that wont heat your coffee grounds and thereby detract from the flavor. Just add up to 8 ounces of beans to the hopper, press the Café button, and the grinder goes to work grinding your coffee to your specifications.
The steam wand on the Bosch Benvenuto B20 can be used to steam or froth milk, which is perfect for those coffee confections. You never have to wait between steaming and frothing, either, because the B20 has two boilers that let you switch from one to the other instantly.
Simply turn the steam/hot water control knob on the B30 to to dispense hot water for tea, soup, or other hot goodies.
Filling the large 64-oz. removable reservoir on the Benvenuto B20 is easy simply take it to the sink and use the tap. When your reservoir is nearly empty, an icon appears in the central panel.
Besides extending the life of your machine, the Bosch Benvenuto B20s Claris water filtering system also keeps your water clear of limescale and other contaminants that can adversely affect the taste of your coffee.
The B20s hopper holds 8 ounces of fresh coffee beans, enough to brew up to 30-35 cups of flavorful brew.
The Bosch Benvenuto B20 has an easily accessible internal dump box into which spent grounds are deposited. Just slide out the dump box and toss the grounds.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.
I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

I have had this machine for over 3.5 years and not one problem. Still froths the milk like the day I got it and we have made over 5,000 espressos so far. I did a lot of research before buying and I must say I am not disappointed in my BOSCH. Very satisfied customer. Too bad I cannot say that about all the appliances in my house:)

We chose to switch from a semi-manual and fully manual system to this fully automatic machine with the intent that throughout the morning it would produce flawless coffee to our tastes, and that is exactly what it does. At 4am, one button primes the system for my husband; no more problem of spilling beans/grinds to get everything going. The flavor is excellent. I like the manual controls over electronic; much less risk of the machine failing in 10 years. Bosch standards are high; I did contact them about a minor problem, and they wanted the whole machine back to fix it. I didn't want to part with the machine after 3 days of use, so I took care of it myself. I love our coffee brewed in this machine - it is smooth, low acid, delicious Austrian roast; for visitors who like an ultraroast espresso, we keep a small packet of ground for their use. Everyone is happy!

Consistent high quality coffee with crema in an easy to vary strength. The two clean cycles are good indicators of when it should be done; I can tell afterwards there was an improvement, and it keeps the machine in perfect order.
Consider a built-in unit if you are remodeling; you can hook up the water supply directly from your filtered water supply.

I worry the waste tray may get damaged as I move it to the sink to empty someday; however, it does hold a reasonable amount of catchings.

My wife and I have enjoyed at least 2 drinks each every day for almost 2 years straight. The Benvenuto B20 is still running strong. It turns on at 5:15 am every day to welcome us to the kitchen. I have cappuccino and the wife makes a mocha. I'm still impressed at the consistency, the crema, the steam, the ease of use, and the machine's communication abilities.

I've had the machine for about a month now and had no problems. Although, the first one I received was DOA. This delayed my enjoyment for about two weeks. I must say that the espresso is excellent. I own a restaurant and the espresso is better (less bitter and better crema) then my commercial machine. I'm sure grinding the beans per order helps a lot. I have no other experience with other superautomatics so as far as the "aroma swirl" goes I can't say if it helps or not. The crema coffe is great also. I have a cup every morning and have shots of espresso throughout the day. I've even gotten into decaf espressos. Using decaf (Lavazza) in the preground hopper produces amazingly good espresso. The steamer is OK. In this category the commercial machine blows the Bosch away. There is a 15-20 second delay before the steam wand starts. But it has enough pressure to make decent frothed milk.

It's been 3 months and my Bosch B20 is still going strong. No problems to report, no glitches in the system, and we're still brewing 6-8 cups a day. I've just "cleaned" the machine for the first time, and changed the filter last month (after 2 months of usage,) and everything went smoothly. My brother bought the Delonghi EAM 3400 on clearance at Starbucks last week, but everyone (including him) loves mine better. There are always "lemons" out there in just about any brand of electronics, and unfortunately for the other reviewer (Mr. Roth), he must've gotten one of them! Hope he has better luck with the next one!

I'm surprised at the previous reviews positivity. It's possible my machine was defective, but I really didn't think it was ver good at all. My comparison's are the Saecos. The quality of the brewed drinks was good. The programming displayed multiple defects. Sometimes I'd adjust the volume from large to small, but the large would brew anyway. Sometimes it would grind but not brew, sometimes just the opposite. The Saecos allow you to brew a doppio by pushing the brew button twice, the Bosch required manually doubling the dose. The machine required descaling after three weeks of brewing three cups a day, and cleaning a week later. The frother is not nearly as good as Saeco's. Bosch service is poor: 20 minute waits to speak to reps who knew very little about their own product. I'm going to try the Saeco Magic Comfort Plus, I've already used a friend's. It's about $300 cheaper.

I never thought I would ever spend this much money on a coffeemaker/espresso machine. Since this is my first ever super-automatic, I didn't know what to look for or what to expect. After spending almost 3 weeks and 30-some hours reading articles and consumer reviews regarding super-automatics, I was actually torn between the V'spresso, the Talea Giro and the Bosch B20. The Talea Giro didn't any reviews yet since it was just released, and I always hate to be the first to try anything new without reviews, especially when spending $1000 on it. I could only find reviews on the Bosch B30, not the B20, but since they're exactly the same machine minus the digital/programming capabilities of the new B30, I figured the B20 would be just as good as the B30 AND $200-300 cheaper depending on which website you looked at. So I went with the Bosch B20 because the husband liked the look of it more than the V'spresso, and he's not too crazy about digital models for fear they may end up with electrical problems in the future. He loves the way the Bosch has a more classic look to it with it's easy to understand knobs (there's only 2 you have to worry about.) At first I wasn't so sure (I'm more of the digital/programmability type of person), but I went for it, especially since I found it brand new at an ebay store for only $800!!! (sorry WholeLatteLove!) I've had it for almost 2 weeks, and my husband and I love it! It definitely has a beautiful classic look to it, and with a name like Bosch right on the front, people know it's gotta be good! My husband loves his mild coffee in the mornings, and I love my double-shot caramel macchiato with frothed milk, which is so easy to do! Makes perfect froth every time without my ever reading the instructions! Although I had wanted a machine with variable temperature control, the Bosch B20 makes super hot coffee, even with the first cup. We use it 6-8 times each day. I have to say I was definitly a bit nervous while waiting for it to arrive, but now I'm sooo glad I went ahead with this big purchase. I can only hope that this machine will last a lot longer than just a few years!

the classic look, the ease of use in brewing size and strength of coffee
Some websites state this machine to be LxWxH as 22.5x14x16 which would make this machine HUGE! WholeLatteLove has the correct dimensions listed. I almost didn't even consider this machine because of incorrect dimensions on other websites.

mjackson ♦ Irina,
It actually is made in Germany. It is a well built machine. It also make a very good coffee.
My Bosch is 3 yrs old, but the descale button has never lit up so I've never descaled it. How do I go about starting the descaling program myself when the descale ring is not illuminated?? The manual doesn't help at all. (I DO run the clean program each time I change the filter.)

Michael Rosso ♦ Thi, According to the manual you can manually initiate the descal cycle by pressing and holding the descal button for 3 seconds. The machine will prompt you through the steps on the LCD screen. Make sure that you have the appropriate descaling solution such as cleancalf before you start the cycle. If you need the descaling solution you can find it on our site. http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/cleancaf.cfm Happy brewing!
I use water filter and the machine has not asked yet to be descaled. The manual states that the machine should be descaled even if the descaled message is not displayed.
My question is how do I initiate the descaling process if the machine does not explicitly ask for it.
Similar question for the cleaning program... Everything works fine when the machine wants to be cleaned (when the ring around the clean button is lit). But is it possible to enter the cleaning program on demand.
Thank you very much in advance,
Eugene Johnson

TechMilanoItalia Eugene, according to the manual for the product, you can initiate each cycle by pressing and holding the appropriate button for 3 seconds. In either case, the machine will prompt you through the steps for each process via instructions displayed on the LCD screen. Make sure you have the proper cleaning tablets or descaling solution on hand before starting. If you need those products or further assistance, please contact Bosch at: 1-800-944-2904
Is this machine all steel or are there aluminum parts?
Are there all stainless steel machines out there?

Whole Latte Love Staff The Bosch B20s boiler is made of stainless steel-lined aluminum, so the water does not come directly in contact with aluminum when it is heated. We do have other machines that have stainless steel boilers as well, like the Gaggia Titanium and Titanium SS (which also has stainless steel housing), the Saeco Incanto Rapid Steam SBS, and the Jura Capresso Z5. You can learn more about these machines by following the links below and compare them side-by-side by clicking on our link for the Compare-O-Matic.
With the filtration system does this machine still need to be decalcified everyone in a while?

Whole Latte Love Staff Technically, the water filter prevents scale from building up in your boiler, so you dont really need to descale. However, it is always a good idea to do so anyway to make sure everythings in tip-top shape. For descaling, wed recommend using Urnex Cleancaf, which you can pruchase from our website by following the link below or by calling us at 888-411-5282.
Whole Latte Love Staff There are only a few differences between these 2 machines, the main one being the control panel. The B30 features a digital display that will tell you in plain English (or the language of your choice, you have 8 different options) when the water reservoir or bean hopper need to be refilled, when the dump box needs to be emptied, and when to descale the machine. The digital display also gives you control of your brewing temperature, as well as water hardness settings, two features not found on the B20.
Instead of a digital display, the B20 has several backlit icons that alert you when maintenance need to be performed, but without the ease of simple language.
I can't figure out if either of the Bosch Benvenuto machines include a water line-in hookup. Do they? If not, do you carry a similar machine that includes a grinder and water line?

Whole Latte Love Staff Neither the B20 nor the B30 have a water line hook-up - they both have 64oz removable water reservoirs that must be refilled when they are empty. The only super automatic we carry that does have the ability to be plumbed to a water line is the Saeco Royal Coffee Bar, which you can learn more about by following the link below.
Whole Latte Love Staff The Bosch B20s dimensions are 13.5"H x 10.75"W x 19"D. Information like this can be found for any of our machines by following the link below to our Compare-O-Matic.
Which Claris water filter should I buy as a replacement for my Bosch machine? I do not have the original anymore. Also, which cleaning tablets should I purchase?

Whole Latte Love Staff Both Bosch super automatics (the B20 and B30) use the #7525 Claris water filters (in the RED package) and Jura cleaning tablets. You can purchase these items by either following the links listed below or by calling us at 888-411-5282. Information like this can be found for all of the machines we carry by clicking on the link below for our Machine Maintenance page.
I recently bought the Bosch Benvenuto B20 and am very satisfied with the purchase. I am using the Claris water filter, but I cannot find anywhere in my instructions what number the filter should be set on. There is a dial on the filter with the numbers 1-10. Can someone enlighten me?

Whole Latte Love Staff The dial on the water filter is simply an indicator to remind you when to change the filter in case you havent activated the filter through the machines internal computer. The numbers actually go from 1 to 12, each representing a calendar month.

Chance Great video. Covers the basics and really helps you find the category that fits your life. Super auto for me!
