Bosch Benvenuto B30

4.9 Out of 5
Note: This item has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase.

Features

Complementing the Bosch Benvenuto B30’s classy look are a simple control system and heavy-duty features that make creating your favorite drinks with this espresso machine a daily pleasure. Inside the B30’s black and silver housing lies not only a 7-14 gram capacity brew group, which allows you to brew a true double shot in one brewing cycle, but also 2 stainless steel-lined thermoblock boilers that virtually eliminate the wait time between brewing and steaming. This Bosch espresso maker also features an LED display screen that does everything from walking you through the brewing process to navigating the menu system and providing maintenance and cleaning alerts.

The outside of the Benvenuto is just as impressive as the inside. With its easy-to-use selector dials, the B30 lets you customize how much coffee you brew – from a single 1 oz cup to two 6 oz cups – and gives you the option of choosing from 6 different strength settings. After selecting the volume and strength of your brew, just press the Café button, and the Benvenuto B30’s internal conical burr grinder goes to work grinding the beans contained in the 8oz bean hopper to the grind setting you’ve chosen using the 6-setting grind selection knob in the hopper. If you’d like to use a different coffee than what’s already in the hopper, the Benvenuto will even accommodate preground coffee in its 7-14 gram capacity bypass doser.

Once your beans have been ground or you’ve added preground coffee to this cappuccino maker, the B30’s AromaSwirl technology kicks in, first pre-infusing the grounds with water and then tamping them. This produces a more evenly extracted brew and therefore, a better tasting coffee. When brewing is complete, simply turn the function selector knob to either release hot water and create an americano, or to release steam so that you can froth and steam milk using the dual position frother for a delectable cappuccino or latte. And thanks to the B30’s 2 stainless steel-lined thermoblock boilers, switching between brewing and steaming is virtually instantaneous.

Keeping the Benvenuto clean is just as easy as making a drink. With the built in Claris Water Filtration System, lime scale and other impurities are filtered out before they even make it inside the machine, so descaling is eliminated, and your coffee’s flavor is enhanced. Even if you don’t use the filtration system, the machine keeps things simple for you. Not only will the LED screen alert you when the B30 needs to be descaled or cleaned, the machine also has 1-touch buttons that begin the built-in, automated cleaning and descaling processes. The LED also alerts you when the bean hopper or 64 oz removable reservoir needs to be refilled, and even when the internal dump box needs to be emptied.

The Bosch Benvenuto B30 is available in black with silver accents and comes complete with a water filter, 2 cleaning tablets, a water hardness test strip, a coffee scoop, and a detailed instruction manual.

Features and Benefits: Coffee

Automatic Coffee Center

This Bosch Benvenuto B30 is a one-stop shop for all your coffee-drinking needs, from americanos to lattes to cappuccinos. It even makes coffee crema, a full cup of coffee that is dramatically more flavorful thanks to the pressure brewing process. Coffee crema’s distinctive taste and aroma are the result of being brewed at 8 to 9 atmospheres of pressure, which no regular drip coffee system can match. And if you want a change from coffee or its relatives, you can heat water for tea, or steam milk for hot chocolate, in your Benvenuto B30 coffee machine.

LED Display

The Bosch Benvenuto B30’s brightly-lit LED display alerts you when the coffee machine needs to be decalcified or cleaned, when the bean hopper or reservoir needs to be filled, and when the internal dump box is full and needs to be emptied. The LED screen also indicates your volume and strength selections as your coffee is brewing and tells you the mode the B30 is in, such as hot water, brewing, or steam mode.

Push Button Technology and Indicator Lights

Push the Café button and a delicious espresso is only 35 seconds away. You can sit back and relax, because the Bosch Benvenuto B30 does everything for you: It grinds, tamps, and extracts coffee flavor based on your specifications. When it’s done, the B30 automatically dumps the used grounds in the dump box. All you have to do is throw them away. And the Bosch Benvenuto even has indicator lights that tell you when the dump box is full, when the bean hopper and water reservoir are empty, and when the machine needs to be cleaned or descaled. Push one button to clean the machine and another to descale.

Adjustable Volume Control

Control is the key word when it comes to making as small as a 1 oz espresso to two 6 oz cups of coffee with the Bosch Benvenuto B30. You choose the setting, and the B30 delivers.

Adjustable Dosing Control

For total control over the strength of your coffee, you can regulate the amount of grounds the B30 uses for each brewing cycle from 7-14 grams. Now a double shot of espresso or two hearty mugs of coffee are available at the push of a button.

AromaSwirl Technology

Bosch’s AromaSwirl technology extracts the maximum flavor from your grounds by first moistening them with water and then tamping them to exact specifications. This allows water to flow through the coffee evenly and bring out the fullest taste and aroma.

Bypass Doser

For preground coffee only, the 7-14 gram bypass doser in the Bosch Benvenuto B30 gives you the flexibility to please a decaf or specialty coffee drinker in your group. This popular feature lets you try different kinds of coffees without disturbing the beans in the hopper.

Conical Burr Grinder

After you fill the 8 oz hopper with your favorite beans, the Benvenuto B30’s internal, high-quality burr grinder grinds them to flavorful perfection.

Features and Benefits: Frothing and Hot Water

Hot Water Dispenser

Simply turn the steam/hot water control knob on the B30 to get hot water from the dispenser for tea, hot chocolate, or other hot-water beverages.

Dual Position Frother

Is cappuccino or latte what you relish? Use the steam wand on the Bosch Benvenuto B30 for frothing or steaming milk. The B30’s two boilers make it easy to switch seamlessly from steaming to frothing, so you never have to wait.

Features and Benefits: Care, Maintenance, and Other

Water Reservoir

The ample 64 oz water reservoir in the Benvenuto B30 is removable for easy filling at the sink, and an indicator light in the LED display alerts you when it’s nearly empty.

Claris Water Filtration System

Keeping water fresh and pure for brewing has never been easier than with the Claris water filtration system, which removes limescale and bacteria and results in better-tasting coffee.

Bean Hopper

Brew 30-35 cups of delicious coffee with the beans in the B30’s 8 oz hopper.

Removable Internal Dump Box

The internal dump box collects spent grounds and makes them easily accessible for disposal.

Caution! Makes great coffee but make sure you buy from reputable seller!!!

The B30 has many nice features for the money. And for me, what was most important was a good cup of crema coffee as I don't do a lot of espresso. I bought mine without too much research and therefore did not know of Wholelattelove at the time. For that reason, I was left to the customer service people at Bosch who were worse than bad...hands down the worst customer service people I have ever dealt with. They did not know what to do in case of a defective machine which turned out to be especially painful to me as the first two units I received were defective right out of the box. The first person I talked to wanted to send out a repair guy to have a look at it. I had owned the machine for less than 24 hours and they wanted to send out the lonely maytag repair man??? When I said I expected an exchange, I was told that "we don't have machines sitting around here for exchange, if you want to exchange you will have to talk to your retailer" As I began to explain that I had purchased this off the net, I realized I was talking to a dial tone.

What's Best About this Product?

Once I got one that worked, it made better coffee than the Jura Capresso.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Buy from a retailer you trust!!! I had to give the overall rating a 4 because of the issues I had with Bosch. Aside from that...oh, and receiving two duds in a row...the Bosch is nice.

Fabulous Machine

This is a wonderful machine--great coffee, great espresso, amazingly easy to use.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

What's Best About this Product?

The B30 has a beautiful design, and it also performs well. We have a Bosch coffee maker that is the best we've ever had, and this machine is its equal in the espresso realm. The clever design even allows you to store your instruction manual in a special housing on the back of the machine. The coffee is so much better than Starbucks that I haven't even been tempted to drop by there since buying the machine. Wonderful, rich, thick crema and pretty good steamed milk.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Read and follow the instructions. They're easy! Never go out of town without cleaning out the grounds tray. I did, and my kitchen had a decidedly unpleasant odor until I figured out it was coming from the B30.

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Illy or Lavazza

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

Don't get me wrong as you read the criticisms here: the steamer functions perfectly well for most of my uses on this machine. However, the steamer is not as robust as I had hoped, so I can't steam much milk at one time. The steamer is fine for one or two cups of cappucino, but not much more. It also takes a bit longer than I would have thought. The steamer position is a tiny bit awkward in that I seem to get a lot of milk on the machine and any surrounding appliances, and sometimes the water or milk bubbles up through the rubber part of the attachment and burns my hand a bit. All said, these are some nit-picky criticisms with a machine that works so well that I hate leaving it behind on business trips.

My friend Gary purchases green coffee beans, roasts them on his stovetop in small batches, and grinds them one portafilter-worth at a time. He brushes the dust into the portafilter with a camel hair brush and tamps them down with a custom tamper he had turned by an artist friend. He works on a commercial semi-automatic plumbed with a multi-staged pre-filter. The espresso I had in Italy was quite nearly as good. If you live in Italy--or you can make it to Gary's house every morning at 9:30--you don't need a Bosch B30, but as for me, I love mine. It warms up in a nano-second, it's controls are simple an intuitive, (In my experience a Bosch trademark) but best of all it brews a terrific shot. I can see how people may not love the frothing wand--if you find it necessary to froth a small pitchers worth of milk at one time, you may find the wand to be a little short--and--you may wish it was more adjustable. The steam wand appears to be a ball and socket design, but the "ball" portion of the wand is actually part of the front panel (a design pet peeve of mine) but it does have nice power, and makes nice foam. (and isn't that what we all want?) A great Cappuccino every morning without it becoming my life's work.

An Honest review from an experienced barista.

I bought this machine because everywhere I turned online, there were reviews with flying colors. However, here is what I have come to find out: The machine is built beautifully, brilliantly designed, and has an ease of use unparalled. One thing is lacking: quality of espresso coffee. I was born in the piemonte region of Italy, the world capital of espresso coffee, and I grew up drinking from the finest baristas and machines that could be found anywhere. Buying this machine, I did not expect by any means that a 1200 dollar machine could parallel to the ambrosia flowing out of one worth 20,000 euro, common in Torino. That being said, I did however expect a consistant rich pour every time the machine was used, something that one should expect for so much money and from a reputable home appliance company. The espresso was watery, even on the highest, darkest settings with the darkest, richest beans that money could buy. I've had it now for two months, and have cleaned it and used it everyday. I even went to the extents of buying coffee DIRECTLY from torino, but alas the result was the same. I am an experienced barista, so the fault cannot lie between my hands, but rather among the moving parts of the machine. Bottom Line: Do not purchase this item if you truly know about coffee.

I just got this machine after months of research and looking at reviews. I was torn between the Jura F9 and the Bosch B30. I decided on the B30 because it was the better buy when comared side by side with the F9. I gotta tell ya, this machine has just blown me away. It has gone beyond all my wildest expectations. My wife loves it because of it's ease of use. I read that someone didn't think the steamer and frother were very good. Well they probably didn't know how to use it. I've no problem steaming milk and making mountains of micro-foam. the espressos are hot very flavorful no mater what beans I use. I can highly recommend this machine with the full confidence that you will be as happy with it as I am. It is money well spent in my opinion.

First, I can't say enough about the service and customer service satisfaction from Whole Latte Love. The first two machines were damaged in freight, and did not work correctly. Whole Latte Love not only shipped me a new machine twice, but overnighted the machines to me. THEY WERE WONDERFUL! I ended up with the Bosch Benvenuto B30. What a GREAT machine. All the controls are in the front, easy to read and adjust. The machine is all automatic, very easy to understand and makes a GREAT cup of coffee or espresso. The water tank and bean hopper are large and easy to get to. With two stainless steel boilers there is no waiting time from brewing to steaming. A LED display walks you through the coffee making process with ease, tells you when the trays need to be emptyed, and when the machine is cleaning. Anyone considering an espresso machine should consider this Bosch. The Benvenuto B30 is definately underpriced!!!

Bosch B30

I returned a Jura Impressa E8 because of its lackluster coffee flavor. The Bosch B30 claimed to have a new and revolutionary "Aroma Swirl" technology, so I tried it. Bosch wasn't kidding! The flavor is full and intense, unlike the Jura Impressa E8. With the E8 I lost interest in coffee but with the Bosch B30 the fun is back. With my semi-automatic machine (Capresso Espresso Pro) I would get a perfect cup, perfect crema 6 out of 10 cups. Now each and every time the cup is perfect. The machine is very consistent. Another main reason I returned the E8 was the user interface. The buttons on the E8 just didn't give me the sense that I had control over the coffee I was making. The B30 is much better. I have full control of the amount of coffee and the amount of water. The B30 also hasn't balked at using pre-ground coffee ever. The E8 repeatedly discarded my pre-ground coffee without making a drop - and I was using coffee I purchased in Switzerland, where the machine was made! The steamer appears to be weak but really isn't. It's just a bit more quiet than I'm used to. It steams well and froths very well. Like all super automatic machines I can now make coffee drinks when entertaining without spending all my time tamping grounds. I can concentrate on the party, not being a barrista. The B30 lets me make a tiny espresso or a huge cup of coffee. It has a huge range of volume but every time delivers a great crema. I like this machine and am very glad I made the switch.

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

The ease of sliding the frother tube from "steam" to "froth". Like the other machine I tried, the ground coffee chute could be a little steeper; as it is now a little bit of coffee gets stuck on the side of the chute and I have to tap the machine to get that last little bit to go down. No biggie.

I am having a problem with my Bosch B30. The beans aren't feeding into the grinder. I have to tamp the beans down each time I want to brew. The machine is on a perfectly flat surface so that is not a problem. The ramps to the grinder seem relatively clean (no oily residue). Any suggestions?

0

Whole Latte Love Staff This problem is usually attributed to using particluarly oily beans - the oil makes the beans stick together rather than falling cleanly into the burrs. If you’re intent on using the beans you’re currently brewing with, the simple fix for this problem is to stir the beans to break them apart. However, you can avoid this problem altogether by switching to a bean that’s less oily. For further information on oily beans and how they can affect your super automatic, you can follow the link below to our article on getting the best from your super auto.

Does the Bosch Benvenuto B30 brew only 1 cup of coffee or does it have to brew 2?

0

Whole Latte Love Staff The Bosch B30 can brew anything from 1 oz to 12 oz in a single brewing cycle depending on your preference. You can select to brew from 1 to 6 oz and then press either the 1-cup or 2-cup button. If you press the 2-cup button, the machine will double the liquid volume you’ve chosen as well as the amount of ground coffee it uses in a single brewing cycle so you get 2 full-flavored cups. And thanks to the dual spout dispensing head, you can easily brew into 1 cup or 2 cups at the same time - it’s all up to you.

I was just wondering how long it takes in total the process of start to finish. I need something that works fairly quick. (about 30 seconds at most).

Whole Latte Love Staff After initial start-up (which takes about 3 minutes), the length of time it takes to brew is going to depend on how much coffee you’ll be brewing. A standard double shot (2 to 2.5 oz) from the B30 will take about 30 seconds. However, if you brew a larger drink - say 6 oz - it can take nearly 1 minute. Performance specs like these can be found for this and any of our other machines by following the link below to our Compare-O-Matic.

Can you do tea in the hopper?

0

Vote

0

Whole Latte Love Staff You cannot put tea in the B30’s hopper - or the bypass doser, for that matter - as this will damage the machine. However, since the B30 can dispense hot water from its steam wand, you may want to try simply filling your cup using this hot water and then adding either a teabag or an infuser filled with loose tea.
