This kettle has a sharp design, but has not proved to be very robust and started its strange ways approximately six months after purchase. The most attractive feature of this kettle is its variable temperature setting which worked quit well for the first six months of its life. When setting temperatures, the temperature settings randomly hop around when pressing the buttons. While in the early stages we could keep pressing the buttons to cycle through settings to encourage the kettle to start, there are now times we can't start the kettle. We were very excited to receive this gift--the Breville kettle it replaced (18 months old) was also faulty and could not be left unattended as it would heat water and continue to boil. I suggest passing on Breville branded products and focusing on other entry price point brands..
