Essential Info: The Capresso Coffee Team S offers maximum control in brewing, allowing you to change the grind setting, the amount brewed, and the time it is brewed. This is a combination drip coffee maker with a steel burr grinder and digital brewing system. It can be programmed to grind beans and brew 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 cups of coffee into a 50-ounce glass carafe at any time within a 24 hr period. With the Stop-And-Serve function you can pause the brewing to pour one cup before the entire drip process is finished. Having separate controls for the grinder and drip system also lets you brew coffee using pre-ground coffee if you desire. A charcoal water filter eliminates over 80% of impurities. This Capresso coffee maker is available in black.
Controls: The Capresso Coffee Team S features extensive controls for grinding and brewing but remarkably keeps them all clear and easy to use. Controls are placed in a compact, easy to reach panel on the lower front of the machine. The grind fineness settings, located on top of the machine in front of the bean hopper, give you four options in a range from fine to coarse. The bean hopper holds 6 ounces, enough to make 20 30 cups of coffee. After filling the hopper with beans and the reservoir with water, the grinder engages when the on/off button is pressed. A small window allows you to see the ground coffee move into the filter for brewing. You can remove a small panel above the feeder channel and clean it to prevent grounds from clogging. If you already have ground coffee, you can brew without using the grinder. Using the LCD display and control panel, you can set the amount of coffee you would like to brew as well as the flavor strength of the final product. Both of these settings change the amount of coffee that is ground. This machine can also be programmed to grind and brew up to 24 hours in advance and offers a 2-hour auto shut off after brewing. It can also be turned off manually using the on/off button. If you would like to pour a cup before brewing is finished, there is a Stop-And-Serve function that will pause the brewing cycle for 20 seconds to allow you to do so.. Performance: With this Capresso coffee maker you gain the rewards, as well as the duties, associated with brewing and grinding freshly ground coffee in a single unit. Grinding beans means fresher flavor but it also means cleaning, whether the grinder is independent or attached. That said, with so many control features, the Capresso Team S is an exceptional choice for those who like to fine tune and set precise measurements. Grinding the coffee without heating the grounds enhances the flavor of the brewed coffee. The presence of the grinder guarantees an intense coffee aroma. Because the ground coffee needs to completely fill the feeder channel, the first time grinding will yield a little less ground coffee. After that, grinding should give you the proper amount. The long channel also means cleaning will be a regular event. It performs well, but the cleaning aspect does detract from the overall experience of this particular Capresso coffee maker. Construction: Given all the functions the Capresso Team S performs, the unit is very compact. Still, with a minimum height of 15 inches, it may not fit under some kitchen cabinets as opening the lid to the reservoir adds another inch or so to the overall height. Its made of an easy to clean, durable plastic. It has a conical Swiss stainless steel burr grinder. As with any grinder, cleaning is a must. A helpful VHS video is included to familiarize you with parts, operation and maintenance. Carafe: The glass carafe is basic but performs well. It has a plastic handle that is easy to grip. The vented plastic top fits snugly and has a lip on the spout designed to make pouring easy. It holds 50 ounces or 10 cups. Hot Plate: The Capresso Coffee Team S has a coated, non-stick warming plate. It is easy to clean. Reservoir: The 50- ounce reservoir is unique in that it can be removed for easy filling. Indentations along the reservoirs interior sidewall quickly and accurately indicate water levels at a glance. Water Filtration: Because tap water contains minerals and chemicals, many machines like the Capresso Coffee Team S now include a charcoal filtration system. Capresso states that their filter eliminates up to 82% of impurities. The filter is smaller but plumper than the size of a tea bag. It fits in a plastic holder, which is inserted into a well at the bottom of the water reservoir. It takes a bit of a jiggle to line it up precisely the first time, but it fits snugly. You should change the filter in this Capresso coffee maker after 60 uses. To remind you, the control panel has a green indicator light to notify you when the filter should be replaced. Coffee Filter: A permanent Gold Tone filter is included with the Capresso Coffee Team S. Accessories/Re-order: A coffee scoop is included with the Capresso Coffee Team S. Re-order information for the charcoal filter is enclosed as well. The written instructions are supplemented by a comprehensive and informative 12-minute demonstration video with instructions.
