Features

The Jura-Capresso Infinity is a burr grinder with an elegant, timeless design. It comes in a stainless steel finish for a durable, professional look and feel, or your choice of an economical black or Stainless Steel ABS plastic finish. Under the sleek lines you will find commercial-grade solid steel conical burrs. The Infinity is capable of 16 grind settings allowing for grind range for an Espresso to a nice coarse grind for a French Press. It is also equipped with a 5 to 60 second auto-stop timer mounted on the center face of the machine. To top it off, the top burr is removable for easy cleaning. Please note that most grinders are tested at the manufacturer and coffee grounds may be found in the grinder as a result. All machines sold are new unless otherwise clearly stated.

Features: Benefits: Coffee

Construction

The polished and brushed chrome models are made of a heavy-duty zinc die-cast housing. The black model is a sturdy ABS plastic that will hold up for years and the stainless steel model is designed for even better durability and a professional look.

Multiple Grind Settings

The Infinity Burr Grinder has 16 grind settings and will grind from fine for espresso machines to coarse enough for french press. The grind adjustments can be made by turning the bean hopper.

Motor with Gear Reduction System

The 100 watt motor is a gear reduction system. This is important because the slower grinding means less heat buildup which in-turn means less coffee flavor lost. The grinder motor produces far more torque (power) which means less strain on the motor and associated mechanisms and longer life. The grinding burrs incur less wear.

Conical burr grinding system

The Infinity's conical burrs rotate at 420rpm. This slow-speed grinder will produce a consistent grind while emitting almost no static charge and imparts little heat into the ground coffee.

Easy to Use Controls

The Infinity is equipped with a timer on the face of the machine. This easy to use dial can be set to grind from any where between five to 60 seconds. After the set time frame has elapsed the grinder will automatically stop.

Bean Hopper

The bean hopper is made of clear plastic and can hold up to 8.8 ounces of beans.

Ground Coffee Container

The ground coffee container will hold up to 4 ounces of ground coffee. It is made of clear plastic and is removable for access.

Good

It is a great grinder had it for a year, then on routine cleaning out in one of the heads in backward and could not get it out. I think it is a great grinder, but not user friendly. How is it possible that you put in a head wrong and you can't take it out. Poor machine construction.

It is really horrible that if you put the burr grinder head in after cleaning the opposite way that it gets stuck. This is a HUGE design flaw.

I have used this machine daily for over 4 years and it has consistently performed. My Rancilio Silvia can be picky about the grind, but I get consistent lovely crema and beautiful shots. The dosing dial numbers are not that helpful, but I quickly learned where to turn it for one shot or two. The grounds catcher walks out slightly, but so slightly that it is no big deal. I would buy it again, great value for the price.

A lot of grinder for the money

I have two of these machines. One is used at the office for a drip-grind (commercial) coffee-maker. It's been in service for several years now making two or three pots of coffee per day. On that one, the little bump on the bottom of the grounds drawer is too small to prevent the drawer from walking out while grinding. I don't have the same problem with my second unit, which I use at home. I got the second one when my superautomatic stopped grinding properly and use it for the bypass doser. I find the coffee quality better than that from the internal grinder of the machine (older Saeco Royal Deluxe).

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

More than 1 year

What's Best About this Product?

Slower grinding speed than others in its price range helps reduce static charge and allows the beans to feed better when the hopper is almost empty.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

If you use the timer as a doser, realize that it starts as soon as you turn the knob. Also the unit grinds slower as it becomes dirty, so clean it out more often for a more consistent dose. I don't personally use the timer as a doser and prefer to measure the coffee beans into the grinder and grind until it's empty.

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Armeno Roasters, Martinez Fine Coffees

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

Grounds drawer hold-in uses a very small bump in the bottom of the drawer. It is not consistent from unit to unit. I have to place an object in from of the drawer to prevent walk-out during grinding.

Crazy static buildup

The machine is well built and does an excellent job of grinding. It has a horrible static build up problem though. When I open the hopper the ground coffee fllys everywhere. Even medium roast has this problem, but dark roast is a disaster. I have to wipe down the counters and the machine every time I use it. Want a free grinder? You can have mine. I've had it with this machine.

Great Machine

I started using specialty roast about 45 years ago. I started using bottle water then as well, for coffee flavor and to eliminate impurities for a better taste. I even tried my hand at roasting. But for the first time after getting my Cappresso burr grinder did I find the best tasting coffee yet. I store the beans in a vacuum storage container to keep the beans fresh. I grind and brew in my Capresso drip pot as well.

What's Best About this Product?

The polished steel looks great next to the Capresso Coffee Maker.

Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder

I am very pleased with this grinder. I did a lot of research and zeroed in on this one, based on features, size, and styling. I got the brushed chrome and it fits in great with my stainless steel appliances. I do not do espresso, so I cannot vouch for how well it works for that kind of grind.

Huge Step Up From Blade Grinder

Unbeatable value given the price point. Good sized burrs. Cool/slow operation. May not be best for tuning in the finest grinds but a very big step up from a blade grinder. Grinds fine enough to choke any machine but there are only a couple settings that can be used properly for espresso as opposed to the infinite adjustments available on a stepless machine. Needs to be opened and cleaned with each use if you want no grounds to remain from previous use. This is very easily done. Overall very good.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

Less than 1 month

What's Best About this Product?

Price. Very consistent and fine grinds. Allows you to get great crema. Relatively quiet. Very easy to open and clean. No comparison to a blade grinder as it is an enormous step up.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Only put as much coffee in the hopper as you're going to use and then "burp" the machine by tapping it on the back when the last of the ground coffee goes into the bin. This minimizes what is left in the burrs. After grinding, you can also remove the hopper, lift the removable burr out and brush the remains into the bin.

My Experience With Using This Product:

Coffee Lover

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Caribou, Cameron's, Millstone

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

I can't find all 16 claimed steps, just 13 or 14. Also, about a teaspoon of ground coffee remains in the burrs after grinding, perhaps this is true of all burr grinders.

Great Grinder!

This is my first experience with a higher quality burr grinder. My old ones were noisy, messy and inconsistent so I bought this as a birthday present to myself. I looked at all the grinders here and just could not justify hundreds on a grinder. I read many of the reviews here and decided to try this guy because of the positive feedback, price and form factor. I am beyond happy with it and would highly recommend this grinder.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

Less than 1 month

What's Best About this Product?

It provides plenty of control for getting the grind just right. I also brew espresso and can get the exact consistency I like. It is quiet, sturdy and very neat. The grinds fall down into the holder and they don't leak during grinding or when removing the reservior which is non-static and therefore nearly 100% of the grinds come out. I could not be more pleased. You can spend much more on a grinder if you desire but I doubt the performance increase would be on par with the extra money spent!

All you need in a grinder

I have been using this grinder for over 2 years and was recently tempted to 'upgrade' to an automatic doser style with more grind settings to fine tune my espresso even further. I got the Gaggia MDF and quickly learned that more expensive is not necessarily better! This grinder does what a grinder needs to do: The burr mechanism grinds evenly and consistently among its 16 settings. I have had not trouble with uneven grinding, as noted by another reviewer, and have not had to clean or maintain the burrs with any frequency: maybe once every 6 months I clean it out. The construction is sturdy, the parts fit together well and there is very little mess. Occaisionally the grinds will slip out when the container is not under the burrs - no more than a quick wipe with a paper towel is required to clean up. The grind setting is fine enough for great espresso and coarse enough for successful percolater coffee (which is what I use for a crowd - not drip). In my opinion there is no reason to spend a fortune elsewhere - this grinder is not super quiet, doesn't have 35 grind settings and isn't very sexy, but gets the job done simply and effectively. PS- The auto doser model drove me crazy because for the doser to produce a dose the grinder contiainer had to be full, which is not useful as I am only ever making one or two cups at a time. Also, it did not dose the 14-16grams of coffee I need for a proper espresso, the dose was inconsistent by weight and it ended up being far easier to just scoop out the correct amount manually.

When I first got the grinder it was a breath of fresh air to get away from blade grinders for drip coffee with as much dust as they create, and I could finally make espresso. This grinder works pretty well for drip coffee (cone filter, not as good with a flat bottom) and espresso, especially paired with a machine like the Gaggia Coffee. The problem arose with every other grind setting. If you are looking to grind for Turkish coffee or for French press I would not recommend this. The problem was what I believe to be the design. There's a conical burr and a free sitting stationary burr at the top (nothing is holding it down). Mostly this will happen for Turkish, but the top burr will jump up while grinding, creating a fairly inconsistent grind, ranging from dust to grinds coarse enough for french press. When the grind is coarser (to espresso) it wouldn't really jump, so the espresso still comes out pretty well. They really should have made the upper burr able to lock into place.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

6 - 12 months

What's Best About this Product?

-I could use it for espresso when starting a home setup. -Fair Price -While it doesn't remind me of a coffee shop, it still has a nice appearance to it. -Customer service at Capresso is wonderful and very helpful -Instruction booklet goes over every detail you need to know, as long as you don't try to do anything not in the booklet, this thing has held up so far. -Not too loud compared to other grinders

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

-The bean hopper can hold more than twice the weight of the grind container. While the space coffee takes up will be decreased after grinding, it will not decrease that much (BE CAREFUL). -Only putting in as much coffee as you will be using at that time is a good practice. -Coffee grinds collect almost every time in the chute to the grind container, so if you care about freshness, make sure you clean it out after every use / session of grinding. Take a brush from a local coffee shop (or whatever works) and push the grinds through after taking off the top burr, and make sure your grind container is still there =) Also depending on how finely ground the coffee is, there will be a lot of leftovers in the chamber just under the burrs right after grinding. Either push them down the chute and use them, or use a brush or a very small vacuum attachment to clean it out. -Use a copper brush to clean off the burrs as often as you can (the conical burr is harder because it's a small area)

My Experience With Using This Product:

Connoisseur

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Peet's

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

-More consistent grinds, for a wider range of grind settings -Reduce static buildup (how the body's made though it would cost a lot more) -Locking mechanism for upper burr -The chute goes strait out then straight down, so coffee gets stuck there constantly

Great grinder for the money

I upgraded from a cheap Melitta grinder with this one. For the money, it is really a terrific grinder. I get a nice consistent grind with low static out of this grinder. It is relatively quiet and generates low heat on the coffee. If you are a coffee addict, you simply must have a conical burr grinder and this is a great one in the price range.

After reading the reviews, I decided the Capresso was the best "bang for the buck". The problem was that the grind was very inconsistent, with large chunks of coffee bean in with the ground coffee. What setting shoul i used for my Gaggia Coffee. I tried settings on "very fine" and "fine" and the grind choke the machine. Then I tried 2 and 3 mark on "medium" and it works but I do not get a
good espresso.
Is it ok using the "medium" setting on the Capresso or it is my Gaggia Coffe? What do you think?
Thank you.

Try different settings one will work. Make sure you clean out the coffee from the grinder before you change settings and try another grind. You want to make sure you don't get the different grinds all mixed up. Just adjust one step or setting at a time until you get it right.

Just wanted to tell everyone that I have used this grinder for at least three years and have been very satisfied. I live in a very low humidity environment (Rocky Mountains) and have not been bothered by static. Have not had to replace the burrs. I only use it for espresso. I get perfect crema using Illy medium roast beans. This machine even survived my wife putting it back together wrong and jamming it! Recommended.

Thanks for the comment. I agree it is a great grinder to consider for most uses and at the price it is a very good deal and thanks for the input.

I want a grinder I can use with my preferred oily beans. I bought your Capresso 580 a few months ago and find it requires minimum 10 minutes of declogging after every use. Capresso replaced the first one, returned at my expense, but the new one is no better.
How is the Infinity for oily beans and an electric drip pot?

techkathy Peggy,
Oilier beans are going to clog almost all burr grinders. You may want to consider a blade grinder for your oily bean type. They do not grind as consistently as a burr grinder but they will not clog with an oily bean. Drip coffee also does not require as precise of a grind as espresso or stovetop moka pots.

Hi,

I see that you have different models of the capresso burr grinder. Do you have one for which the casing is actually stainless steel? not brushed plastic ?

TechMilanoItalia Yes, if you choose the stainless steel model from the drop-down selection, it is the metal housing in the stainless finish.

I am looking for a grinder to use with my Capresso Classic. Seems this is a reasonable match. I have been getting unclear information on use of this grinder with the portafilter. Can it grind directly and cleanly into the portafilter? Thanks.

WholeLatteLoveS S The Infinity grinder will pair well with the Capresso espresso machines or coffee makers. The will not grind directly into your portafilter. You will need to grind into the grounds container and then scoop the grinds into your portafilter.

How do I know how many cups I'm making with the timer? Or do I have to measure them out each time before grinding?

TechMilanoItalia It would depend on how much coffee your coffee machine needs to make a cup. It will take some trial and error, but once you figure out how much time it takes to make enough for your machine, you can always just set the timer to that same amount of time.

I recently bought this grinder to go with our Classic Gaggia espresso machine. We've used it 3 times on the finest setting and it is not grinding fine enough for the espresso machine. Is there something we can adjust on this grinder, or is there another one in the $150 price range you can strongly recommend to be compatible with the Gaggia?
Thanks!
Susan

TechMilanoItalia Susan, you might be able to squeak by with a Baratza Maestro on its finest setting, but if you want, for $50 more we are currently offering a great deal on the Gaggia MDF here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/Gaggia/mdf.cfm It's usually $299, but that grinder is a great quality machine that you should be able to use not only with this machine, but any other future upgrades you may go with. It will have plenty of room to grow with you as you try different coffees. Enjoy! =)

Does the grinder have to grind all the beans that are in the top holder or can you select a certain number of cups to be ground?

Whole Latte Love Staff This grinder doesn’t require that you grind all the beans that are in the hopper. Using the timer on the front of the machine, you can grind as much or as little as you’d like.
