Features

The Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine gives you full control over your espresso shots. Featuring 2 programmable brewing buttons, a manual brewing button, and the option to brew using ground coffee or ESE (Easy Serve Espresso) pods, this Cuisinart espresso machine is as versatile as your neighborhood barista. The stainless steel frothing wand and included frothing pitcher let you create cappuccinos, lattes, and more with ease. Programming and brewing are also made simple by blue backlit buttons on the control panel that flash when the machine is heating up, and when in programming mode. Combined with the Cuisinart EM-200’s stainless steel housing, these backlit buttons give this espresso machine an elegant, modern look.

A great asset to anyone who loves to entertain, the Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine has a warming plate so you can have plenty of cups ready for brewing. Its large 64 oz water reservoir lets you make almost 34 shots before having to refill, and it’s removable for easy filling and cleaning. The drip tray is also removable, making it easy to dump and rinse at the end of the day.

Features & Benefits: Coffee

Simple Control Panel

The EM-200 has a control panel designed for straightforward operation, so making your morning espresso is never a complicated process. The control panel features 6 metallic, backlit buttons, and from left to right they are labeled: power, manual brewing, 1-cup, 2-cup, programming, and steam. While the machine is heating to brewing temperature, the brewing buttons will flash. And, while the machine is heating to steaming temperature, the steaming button will flash. This ensures you can always enjoy your espresso at its ideal temperature and flavor.

Programmable Brewing Buttons

When you find just the right size for your espresso shot, you want to get the same, consistent results every time you brew. That’s why the Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine has 2 programmable brewing buttons that let you set the liquid volume of your shots. The 1-cup and 2-cup buttons come pre-programmed for 1.5 and 3oz respectively, but can be easily changed. Simply press the programming button and then the brewing button you want to program to start the flow of espresso. The brewing button will flash, and when your desired liquid volume has been reached, just press the button again to stop dispensing. The machine will then beep to let you know your settings have been saved.

Versatile Brewing

Some people prefer brewing with ground coffee, while others prefer brewing with ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) pods. Both have their benefits, with ground coffee letting you control tamp pressure and grind fineness, and pods eliminating the need for grinding and dosing. The Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine comes with a single shot, double shot, and ESE pod filter baskets, so you can choose whatever option is best for you.

Powerful Pump

A powerful pump plays a large factor in proper espresso extraction. When too little pressure is created during the brewing process, you don’t get the rich layer of crema on top of your shots. The EM-200 Espresso Machine has a 15 bar pump, ensuring you’ll always get consistent and crema-topped results.

Features & Benefits: Frothing and Hot Water

Stainless Steel Frothing Wand

With the Cuisinart EM-200 on your kitchen counter, cappuccinos, lattes, and other café-style drinks are just moments away. This machine features a stainless steel frothing wand that’s easy to clean and maintain. With the included frothing cup and a little practice, you’ll be frothing and steaming in no time. Just press the steaming button on the right side of the control panel, and the button will flash to let you know the boiler is heating up to steam temperature. When the light becomes steady, simply immerse the tip of the steam wand in cold milk, and turn the steaming knob on the right side of the machine.

Hot Water

When you want to enjoy hot chocolate, tea, or an Americano, the Cuisinart EM-200 can dispense hot water from the steam wand. Just turn the steam wand to the hot water icon when the machine is at brewing temperature, and then turn it back when your desired amount of hot water has been dispensed.

Features & Benefits: Care, Maintenance, & Other

Large Water Reservoir

The Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine comes with a large reservoir with a 64 oz capacity. With enough water for almost 34 espresso shots, you won’t have to worry about having to refill while entertaining guests. The reservoir is also removable, so filling and cleaning are always a snap.

Removable Drip Tray

To make cleaning even simpler, the drip tray and drip tray cover of the EM-200 are easily removable. The drip tray and cover should be removed and cleaned at the end of every day to keep your machine in top shape. They can be rinsed with warm water and a non-abrasive detergent.

Housing Construction

The Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Maker features stainless steel housing with metallic accents for a modern and stylish look. It can be wiped down with a damp cloth at the end of the day, and is easy to maintain. The steam wand is also made of stainless steel and should be wiped clean after every use to prevent build-up.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

In my opinion the em 200 is absolute garbage! The pump on the first one I owned stopped making enough pressure after about six weeks. The second one I owned failed to make enough pressure right out of the box. STAY AWAY FROM CUISINART!!

Great for the price

Remember the cost of this machine. My favorite machine is $2,100 can't compare this machine with one that costs 10x as much! This machine is a little noisy and huffs and puffs. This is the machine releasing pressure after the cycle is done. The portafilter is pressurized, meaning there is only one small hole the extracted coffee comes out of. I brought my first machine back because it wouldn't make a cup of espresso. After using the machine awhile I realized all I had to do was open the hole. Cuisinart should be more clear on this fact. All in all I think this machine is hard to beat for the money.

What's Best About this Product?

Programable, consistent pulls. First thing I did was pull the little frothing wand cover off. It heats my milk just fine. It will make foam but you will have to work on that.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Draw an empty shot every few days to keep the portafilter hole clear. Empty the tray EVERY morning.

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

If this machine was designed without the pressurized portafilter I think it would be much better. Figure out how to stop the water tank from rattling. Not that big of a deal since it only runs for a few seconds.

Goos starter

A pretty good starter to learn with as it has preset buttons for single and double shot, and you can alter them if you wish. Also nice that it takes ESE pods for times you want an easier shot.

Simply Doesn't Work

Pressure is not 15 more like 5. Creama nearly absent, cup left full of water. Steam won't work at all. Customer service: recognized the machine was defective and offered to fix it if we paid the shipping both ways.

After using the steamer every time I try to make espresso, more water comes from the steamer spout than from the espresso spout. I have to press the double cup button at least 3 times to fill up my espresso cup, I have to leave a cup under the steam spout to collect the water, and the espresso that comes out is purely black without the tan foam that it used to make before I started using the steamer.

mjackson ♦ Golan,

It could be you are not letting the boiler cool enough after steaming. Try making the shot first and see if that helps. If not call Cuisinart at 1-800-726-0190

I had the Cuisinart EM-100 that was giving a perfect expresso coffe with lot of "cream", but it worked for a while, and I had to return it 3 times. Now, I think that may be the company fixed the prior problems with this new machine EM-200 and if it workes OK. I will have a very good espresso coffee. The 4 revews I read are not very good. What do you think? What advise can you give me?. Thank you for your information, R.Stein

mjackson ♦ Rodolfo,

I have well went and read as many reviews as I could find. There like many machines were great and not so great reviews. I think it overall is a good machine and if there had been problems it seems to happen right away. Make sure you get it primed. If you want a machine with a pressurized portafliter that is similar I would also look at the Saeco Aroma. It has a good reputation but does not have programmble cup sizing.
