Pricey but worth it

The other reviews say it all. The key to great tasting espresso is consistency. This tamper provides that consistency. The tamper frees you up to play with your grind and water temperature so you can have consistently great shots. I was skeptical but went ahead and purchased it. The scientist in me knew I should. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Buy it, you won't be sorry. I am 6'3" and weight 265 lbs. I couldn't tell you if I was pressing 25 or 45 lbs., even after practicing on a bathroom scale. Now I know when I hit 30 lbs. This tamper really does help.

Best Tool Ever

This thing is the bomb for beginners like myself. It helps give us a feeling for how much pressure is the correct pressure as well as allows anybody to fine tune their grind because it takes the human error out of it. It fits my 58mm portafilter excellently and i can definitely tell the difference in the evenness of the tamp with the convex head.

Nifty little tool

I purchased this shortly after I received my Gaggia New Baby. It is really a great way to be sure you use consistent pressure each time- always pull a great shot. Easy to use, sits well in your hand.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Directions suggest that you tamp 5 times starting in the center and then in '4 directions'- find that is too much. Center and spin halfway, click, then rotate again 180- perfect each time.

This is my first real tamper, I am extremely happy with the consistent shots I'm producing on my new setup. It has a very smooth, comfortable feel in the hand - after a quick & gentle leveling tamp, I lift it, and then spin it, then press it until it clicks, and then a final lift & spin! It's awesome!! & quite fun! Eliminates one less variable in the quest of the elusive "godshot".
