A true prosumer and light duty commercial espresso machine, the new Expobar Office Lever Plus flawlessly merges commercial capabilities and a consumer-friendly design. An upgrade of the wildly popular Office Lever line, this model has been redesigned to allow it to be plumbed; it also has a new, no-burn steam wand. You’ll have the option of connecting Expobar Office Lever Plus directly to your water supply or using the generous 120oz water reservoir. Heavy users may find plumbing the machine more convenient, as it provides the machine with an endless water supply.

Aside from this insightful upgrade, the Expobar Office Lever Plus retains all of the functionalities that have made it an industry benchmark. The high-end, commercial-grade copper boiler remains standard on this model, ensuring that brewing and steaming operations can be performed seamlessly and simultaneously. As with all Expobars, the E61 Brew Group and professional portafilter are made of chrome-plated marine brass to guarantee maximum temperature stability.

Housed in an elegant, polished stainless steel frame, the Expobar Office Lever Plus comes with a tamper, single and double shot filter baskets, as well as a seven-gram scoop and backflush disc to get you brewing in style.

Please Note: Regulations for commercial use vary between states. Be aware of your local requirements. Machines carrying an NSF approval are labeled as such. Please visit our policies page for warranty information.

Features & Benefits: Coffee

Plumb-ability

The Expobar Office Lever Plus can be plumbed; this gives you the option of connecting the machine directly to a water source instead of relying on the water reservoir. This model has a unique plumbing system with a solenoid valve on the inlet side, a safety feature that works in parallel with the pump to prevent leaking. Expobar has developed this system to protect your home and machine.

E61 Commercial Brewing Group

The durable E61 Commercial Brew Group is made of heavy-duty, chrome-plated marine brass to ensure superior performance, heat stability, and longevity. Brew-ready temperature is maintained by a thermal siphon, which continuously circulates hot water from the boiler to the brew group, even as the machine idles.

Heat Exchanger Boiler System

The impressive 1.8-liter copper boiler is equipped can brew large quantities, once it heats up. The warm-up period takes about 15 minutes, then the heat exchanger will allow you to steam and brew simultaneously.

Lever Controls and Three-Way Valve

The sophisticated capabilities of this machine are controlled by a simple, user-friendly switch, lever, and two knobs. Turn on the power switch and the machine automatically prepares itself to brew; once the pressure gauge reaches one bar of pressure, you’re good to go! The lever on this Expobar is unique in that it actually functions to release the valve, located within the brew group, and activate the pump to begin the brewing process. Raise the lever to brew. Once you’ve got your espresso, return the lever back to its place, this will open the three-way valve to relieve the water pressure accumulated during the brewing process.

Pressure Controller with Pressure Gauge

Boiler temperature and pressure is managed by a dedicated pressure controller. This unique feature monitors boiler pressure and activates the heating element if the pressure drops. A pressure gauge is mounted on the front panel of the Expobar Office Lever Plus for user reference. Once the gauge’s needle is positioned between 1 and 1.5 bars of pressure, you’re got enough pressure to brew/steam. Within 10 minutes, the thermo siphon will have the brew group heated for optimal brewing results. If you’re in a hurry, run a blank shot through the group to warm it up and prep it for immediate brewing.

Pressure Gauges

The Expobar Office Lever Plus has 2 pressure gauge displays that allow users to easily monitor both brew and boiler pressure making it easier to monitor the extraction parameters.

Commercial-Grade Portafilter

The double-spout, commercial-style portafilter is made of chrome-plated brass for maxiumum temperature stability.

Low-Water Cutoff

A sensor has been mounted in the water reservoir. It monitors water levels and will turn off the machine if the reservoir is low.

Integrated Cup Warmer

A passive cup warmer is located on the top of the Expobar Office Lever Plus, allowing you to preheat your cups.

Features & Benefits: Frothing and Hot Water

Hot Water Dispenser

The steam wand and hot water dispenser are separate on the Expobar Office Lever Plus and controlled by two independent knobs. The dispenser will deliver hot water on demand for teas, hot chocolate, soup and more.

Steam Wand

The no-burn, polished steel steam wand is easy to clean and maintain. It has a generous clearance and can be rotated to accommodate cups of all shapes and sizes.

Features & Benefits: Care and Maintenance

Maintaining your Expobar Office Lever

The Expobar Office Lever Plus should be backflushed every week or week and a half for optimal performance. A backflush disc is included with the machine, for your convenience. Whole Latte Love recommends that you use the Urnex Cafiza Espresso Machine Cleaner for best results. Please refer to our article, “Backflushing your Espresso Machine” for detailed instructions on how to blackflush your machine.

Awesome starter machine

I just want to start out by saying that this is my first espresso machine. As a first time owner I could not be more amazed. Me and my girlfriend were able to work it right away. The steam wand took some getting used to because of the powerful wand I first experienced espresso on. I use the resevoir even though it has all the features because I am still a college student living in an apartment. As far as being a college student with roommates, they thoroughly enjoy the machine as well. Although the machine sits between my room and one of my roommates, he says the machine doesn't wake him up when I use it in the mornings which says something about its operation noise. He is a heavy sleeper though. The machine is super easy to clean and maintain. With me making, on average, 2 shots a day and my girlfriend making an average of 1 a day I only have to empty out the drip pan once every week in a half or so. It can go to 2 weeks on depending on how you clean your machine between shots. I typically let it flow open for a sec to get all those excess grounds out. The hardest part I found about maintenance was the descaling. I took the water softener off to revitalize while I descaled and found that I had to hold the hose in the tank as I filled the boiler. The hose is plenty long enough to reach the bottom of the tank, but it'll creep out without the weight. Also, after the first descaling the steaming wand went through a period where it would not blow steam. It blew a mixture of water and steam for quite a bit. I was about to call about the problem but it just fixed it's self. I theorize that it had something clogged in it that it had to pass. With the 2 of us using the machine like we do, and the occasional shot by the roommates, I have to fill the resevoir about once a week, sometimes more. Overall though, it is a tough machine that will never fail you. P.S. I am going to try some new tips on it and will let yal know how it goes.

Had this machine for about a year upgrading from a FrancisFrancisX5. Settled on it after about 8 months of reading blogs, reviews, and many a conversation at my local shop about which machine to purchase. Im grinding with a rancilio rocky and I couldn't be happier I went with this expobar. If you are on the fence...just buy it.

I have owned the Lever Plus now for a month and it seems like a solid product. I did buy the La Spaziale 4 Hole Tip a few weeks back from WLL for faster steaming (also works good). I have yet to make any good quality micro-foam but that is because it is my first prosumer espresso machine. Pulls nice shots but does require a pretty extensive flush, grouphead sets at around 209 F according to Eric's thermometer. I would also recommend Eric's E61 grouphead thermometer as a good accessory to help flush down the temperature (google for results). The instuction manual for the Lever Plus is kinda weak but WLL's support makes up for it, plus there is a huge espresso community out there just waiting to help anyone who asks. WLL worked me a great deal on this machine, modern knock box, Rattleware angular tamper, packing mat and the Baratza Vario grinder. I did upgrade the tamper last week to the Espro Calibrated Convex Tamper from WLL due to my novice tamping skills. WLL also provided me with great customer service every time I have emailed them with my newbie like questions. Thanks WLL for all the help and support.

3 years and still humming

Like many, I started brewing stove top espresso and then thought I was brewing espresso with cheap, aluminum 'home' machines that were just electric versions of stove top (and made lousy coffee-like susbtances). I first bought a Gaggia Coffee and loved it. It worked great with a lower end burr grinder, right up until it didn't work at all. Still under warranty, it was replaced. It's replacement worked great right up until it died 9 months later. Two lemons. I know Gaggia makes good machines, but I just took store credit and used a friend's Silvia...which I liked because I could finesse it great shots from it. But I had to give it back. So I went looking and the Expobar Lever caught my eye. I did my research and spoke at length with WLL folks. I bought ours and a new Rocky grinder and have not looked back. This machine simply rocks. Different beans and roasts need slight grinding adjustments to get perfect shots, but it's quick to dial in because it produces a consistent temp water stream and volume. It works all day without a complaint. It sits unused for a while and then kicks back into high use w/o a hitch. I love the lever action to adjust the timing on shots between 20-25 second pulls. I backflush/clean regularly and use the water softener plugins on the feed tube that fits in the tank. We used filtered water to fill the reservoir and keep that fresh. It steams and froths very well with power to spare. Getting barista quality froth takes some practice wit this tip and i suggest keeping your pitcher in the freezer for getting really dense foam.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

Less than 1 month

What's Best About this Product?

This machine is a tank. I mean that in the glowing sense of the word. It's bomber gear. Cleans up well, sparkles and just puts everyone on notice that you mean business when it comes to coffee. It's heavy. It brings back operator-human touch factor without a lot of muss, fuss or high learning curve. It's fun to lever yourself a double ristretto and take on the world. Gauges work and mean something. Group head really shines after it's been allowed to preheat for 30 minutes....but you can get a good pull after ten. Easy to clean and keep operating at tip top. If you want to tinker or mod your own machine, get a Silvia and build your own non-stock mega monster. The Lever will do everything you ask, and more, do it well, and do it well again and again and again. 3 years of what I would refer to as constant, moderate use (10-20 shots pulled each day) and this machine acts like it just came out of the box. And looks it, too. Bravo.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

You need to dial in your grinder and tamp with different beans, roasts, and changes in temp/humidity. That's what makes pulling a 'god shot' such a pleasure. The Lever does its part by supply consistency. Your adjustments to grind and tamp will keep 20-25 pulls kicking out the crema so that your double shot glass looks like a mini-pint of Guinness being poured in a top-notch pub. Clean your machine. Backflush and treat the Lever nicely and it will repay you with faithful, loyal service for years to come.

My Experience With Using This Product:

Coffee Lover

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Various locally roasted varietals, estates, and blends. Sometimes Peets, sometimes other small roasters who ship freshly roasted whole bean espresso blends, Italian, and French roast beans.

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

I'd like external access to reservoir refill and monitoring. The fall-safe overheat features work. But having to remove all your cups and the top plate to add water is sometimes a pain. We have limited counter space, so we store our cups on top....so every refill means unstacking and restacking. Dual water temp gauges would also be a nice touch...but not necessary. I love this machine.

Great step up machine

Generally a top of the line expresso machine at an almost tolerable price. Steam takes about 10 minutes to come up. Water reservoir works well. De-lime cartridge is a nice touch and seems to work well, I have had no problems with the boiler. Steam power is good, will steam 33 oz of milk in 4 minutes. Pulls good shots with no delay between shots

Home espresso machines don't get any better than this one. It makes PERFECT shots. Much better than all but a very few coffee shops. You will need a good tamp like a Reg Barber for the best shots. You wont find a better machine under $2K. This is a QUALITY product made by a company that knows a quality machine should be. You won't be dissapointed.

Hi great machine. But I have a couple of questions on one feature. When you remove the water tray, there is a pressure adjustment screw on the bottom right of the machine.
1. What does the adjustment screw actually do?
2. What does it do to the taste of my espresso when it is fully closed ( clockwise) or fully open.
3. Who sets the setting, wholelattelove techs or factory? Mine was about 3.5 turns open ( counterclockwise from full closed) when I received the machine.

Thanks and once again, great machine!

techkathy 1) The adjustment is the OPV and controls the brew pressure.
2) If the brew pressure is too low, the coffee wont come out. If the pressure is too high, the coffee will come through too quickly and taste weak or watery.
3) Before the machine is shipped Whole Latte Love technicians set the pressure to about 10 bars.

What's the best type of water to use for this machine? (distilled, artesian, deionized, etc.)

techkathy Andre,
You should use water with a low mineral content. The machine relies on an electrical signal for the auto-fill function. So the water does need to have some electrolyte in it.
