This is a quality bottomless portafilter which works great with my Expobar Brewtus. It is however, significantly less robust than the portafilter which comes with the Brewtus. This does not affect the espresso in any way as water is never in contact with the portafilter itself in this setup, only the portafilter basket. But the handling, and feel of the portafilter is not as satisfyingly solid as the Expobar portafilter. The walls of the portafilter where the basket is seated are noticeably thinner, and the handle itself is not quite of as high a quality. But to brew with a bottomless portafilter is a real pleasure. I would brew this way everytime from now on, which is all the more reason that I'd prefer that the build quality be top notch, which in this case is not. Good quality, but not quite as nice as it could be.
OSSIE Thanks for answer my question, actually there is one for Breville, they call it 58mm Naked Portafilter, but it's out of stock.
How thick are the two tabs/wings on the portafilter? I have an E61 machine, but the tabs are only 5mm thick on mine where most E61's are 7mm thick. I can't turn the filter in the group head when they're 7mm thick. Thanks!

techkathy We measured the tabs on a couple of the Expobar bottomless portafilters. The tabs are 6.5 mm at their thickest point.
Love this bottomless portafilter, using it on a Office Lever and the results are fantastic. Really helps troubleshooting your technique when you can see what is happening throughout the extraction

mjackson ♦ Yes it will work, we also sell the Rancilio bottomless portafilter if you would like that instead. Give us a call and we can get either. Look forward to your call.
Rob LeDrew The reason I asked is that I already have this one and tried using it 3 times on my Rancilio Silvia V3 and each time it shot hot water out the sides of the portafilter in addition to it coming out the bottom as expected. I wanted to verify whether it was my technique or the portafilter. I even tried putting it on very tight, with only marginally better results. It still sprays a lot of hot water out the sides. I do not have this problem with the stock Rancilio portafilter.
Rob LeDrew If it helps, I am using the stock Rancilio double basket.
Hi, I think this is the correct size to fit my Gaggia "Coffee" espresso machine. (It's not the Classic or the Baby -- purchased it around 2004 or 05 I think.) I think it's a 58mm portafilter -- is that enough to ensure compatibility?

mjackson ♦ Olga - it should fit as long as you get the Expobar brand.
Michael Rosso ♦ David...I am sorry to say that this Botomless Portafilter wil not fit your Saeco Sirena. Thanks.
Michael Rosso ♦ Pablo...You will need to order Gaggia Bottomless Portafilter. Thanks,
Can this be used on a gaggie espresso machine? I believe it has a 58mm brew group, but I'm not sure if it's an "E61." Thanks,

Michael Rosso ♦ Benjamin...You will need to order the Bottomless Portafilter that is made for Gaggia machines. Thanks.
I wanted to know if this bottomless portafilter was compatible with my Gaggia Baby Twin. I tried to see on the specs if it had an E61 Brewhead group but I can't find that information on the product description. Also I read somewhere that the bottomless portafilters can accommodate a triple shot filter basket, but I could not find one on your website. Do you sell those?
Thanks

Zack Smith Devyn, Thank you for your interest in the bottomless porta-filter. We do have one that will fit your Gaggia machine. In order to make sure that you get the correct one please give us a call and we can get that sent out to you. We also have triple shot baskets that will allow you to brew through 21 grams.

A A Oscar,
The Expobar Bottomless Portafilter will only fit the Expobar. As far as I know right now, there is no bottomless portafilter for the Breville.
