General Specifications

Colors: Group Gasket

Features

Replace the worn or cracked group gasket on your Gaggia espresso machine with a new one!

The first sign of age is leaking around the group during your extraction.  Be sure to clean the gasket of debris that may hinder a proper seal.  Also, you may experience leakage if you place too much coffee in the filter basket.  This will cause the coffee to jam against the filter screen so you will not be able to fully rotate the portafilter.  Look to see if the shower screen is indented on the coffee puck after the extraction.  If neither is the case, then it is most likely time to replace this part.

Note: This gasket does not fit the Espreso Dose, Pure, or Color.

Christine Romani Ruby Is this the correct gasket for the Gaggia Classic?
10:19 PM 1-29-12
Mark Jackson Christine, It is the correct part. You may also want to order a shower screen as long as you are changing the gasket as well as giving it a thorough cleaning. Here are the instructions. This will show you how to remove the brew group gasket and install a new one. Please read the entire instructions before you start. If you need to order a new gasket, the part number is GA-NG01/001. Call us to order or visit the Parts & Care section of our website. 1. Make sure that the machine is powered down, unplugged, and completely cool before attempting any of these instructions. 2. Remove the reservoir, drip tray, drip pan and reservoir cover and lay the entire machine on its back. 3. Use a short Philips head screwdriver to remove the shower screen. (You can find these at an auto parts store if you do not have one.) 4. Under the shower screen you will see the “Shower Holding Plate” that is held in place with two Allen screws. Remove the two Allen screws with 5mm Allen wrench. 5. The Shower Holding Plate should just drop out after you remove the Allen screws. If it does not, use a large flat blade screwdriver to gently pry out the Shower Holding Plate. Be careful not to damage the ridge that the shower screen fits up into. If you do, a new holding plate is available. It is part number GA-DY0036/A and is available as a replacement part. Just call us to order. a. Sometimes, the Shower Holding Plate is really stuck. To remove a plate that is stuck, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers. Open the pliers and stick the points into the holes where the Allen bolts were. Then turn hard. This should break the Shower Holding Plate free. Clean out any build up that you see using a stiff brush and some descaler – the same kind you would use to descale the machine. 6. You should now be able to pull out your old group gasket. If the gasket is very hard or stuck follow steps a and b. a. Find a couple of screws that you might have lying around. They do not have to be any special size as long as they have a pointed end. Screw them into the old gasket. Make sure that they are across from each other. Do not go completely through the gasket just screw them in far enough to get a good grip. You can judge this by looking at the new gasket you are going to install. The gasket depth is about 5/16”. b. Use pliers to pull on the screws and work the old gasket out. Pull one side and then the other until it comes out. ** Note: A gasket can be so old that it will need to be removed in bits and pieces using needle nose pliers*** 7. This is a good opportunity to clean the shower screen and brew group. Use a stiff brush and some descaler (like Urnex CleanCaf) for really tough spots. 8. Clean and dry the slot in the machine that the gasket fits into. 9. Slide a new gasket into place. 10. Put the machine back together by screwing in the Shower Holding Plate and shower Screen. You can use your portafilter to help. Lock the portafilter on a couple of times hard to make sure everything is securely seated. 11. Tip the unit back up and install the drip pan, drip tray and water reservoir. 12. Fill the reservoir and plug the machine in and you are ready to go.

christian ceniceros Hi, am looking for a gasket set for my older Gaggia Coffee model machine.. I see you have the group gasket, do you have the boiler gasket and the other o-rings? If it was all in a set that would be great. Thx, Christian

Patricia Allen I have a Gaggia Titanium that is less than 2 years old and is leaking. Steam seems to be escaping and now when I turn it on the menu goes right to steam and it says to close knob, which is already closed. Could this be the part I need to fix it?
4:53 PM 6-30-11
Mark Jackson Patricia, the part you mentioned is for a traditional machine that uses a portafilter like the Gaggia Classic. You may have something going on with your machine that requires a repair to be made. It could be your steam valve or hard to say. I would give a call to our technical department and they can advise you on what to do. They can certainly help you.

David McDonald Hi: Just to confirm the Gaggia group gasket on your web site will fit my Gaggia Carezza expresso machine? Thanks for you help. David

Zack Smith David, That gasket will fit your Gaggia Carezza. We also have the shower screen if you wanted to replace that at the same time.

Carl LoSchiavo I just ordered the Gaggia group gasket. Can you please post a link that explains how to change this gasket? I think I saw one before but can't find it now. Thanks.
8:44 PM 1-7-11
Zack Smith Carl, Here is the instructions on how to replace the gasket. 1. Unplug the machine. 2. Remove the reservoir, drip tray and drip pan and carefully lay the machine on its back. 3. Use a short Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the shower screen (if you damage the shower screen and/or screw, we have replacements available and they are not too expensive). 4. Under the shower screen you will see the “Shower Holding Plate” that is held in place with 2 Allen screws. Remove the 2 Allen screws with a 5mm Allen wrench. Note: If the shower holding plate comes out after removing the 2 Allen screws, skip to step 6. If the shower holding plate does not come out after removing the 2 Allen screws, use a large flat blade screwdriver to gently pry out the Shower Holding Plate. Note: Be careful not to damage the ridge that the shower screen fits up into. If it still does not come out, you may need to apply some descaler solution in the gaps with a turkey baster or something similar. Be careful not to break or scratch the holding plate, but if this piece is damaged, you can purchase a replacement from us, and it is relatively inexpensive. 5. Now locate the group gasket. It is a black rubber ring. You need to pry off the rubber gasket. It should easily come out. If it does, skip to step 8. 6. If the rubber gasket is difficult to remove by hand, find a couple of screws that you might have lying around. They do not have to be any special size, but a sheet metal screw with a 5/16-inch or 1/4-inch six sided head and a ratchet works best. Screw them into the old gasket. Make sure that they are across from each other. Note: Do not screw them in completely through the gasket—just screw them in far enough to get a good grip. You can judge this by looking at the new gasket you are going to install. The gasket depth is about 5/16-inch. 7. Use pliers to pull on the screws and work the old gasket out. Pull one side and then the other until it comes out. 8. At this point, it is a good idea to clean the shower screen and group head. DO NOT use a pin to clean out the holes in the shower screen. It can cause future clogs because it will enlarge the small holes. 9. Clean and dry the slot in the machine that the gasket fits into. 10. Slide a new gasket into place. 11. Replace the Shower Holding Plate and Shower Screen. 12. Tip the unit back up and install the drip pan, drip tray and water reservoir. Fill the reservoir and plug the machine in and your machine should be ready to brew again.

Kelly Burke Hi, We bought a Gaggia Titanium from you a few years ago. Now there is a leak at the steamer wand, so when I steam milk there's a little drip-drip-drip of water coming down the steamer wand (unless I move the wand at an angle and then the dripping goes into the catch basin). I assume it's a little gasket, not this big 'group gasket'. My husband took the machine apart to replace the steamer, so he can do it again. Before he tears into it again, is this little gasket available at the local Lowe's, or is it super-special and I need to buy from you? Please advise. Thank you in advance! Kelly Burke Bend, Oregon

Mark Jackson The best thing to do is I will email you a schematic for the parts. Then if you have taken it apart before you can see exactly what part you need and then give a call to our technical staff top make sure you get the parts you need. They are made to fit and I do not think you will be able to purchase them at a hardware store.

Gabriella Del Monaco Will this gasket fit an Gaggia Achille manual machine? thank you.
4:09 PM 11-9-10
Mark Jackson Gabriella, That gasket will not fit. It is designed for the 58 mm groupheads. The Gaggia Achille is smaller at 53 mm and needs this gasket - GA-NG01/001. It is available and in stock with us. Please give us a call if you want to order.

A very easy job. However, when I was looking at the shower holding plate, it was unclear how it came out. Luckily, I found this site which has more details:http://www.bluebox.com.au/jcrayon/gaggia/index.htm Rather than pry the plate off, I stuck the allen key into one of the screw holes and gently lifted it off.
