Insulated Copper Heat Exchange Boiler

Consistency in temperature is essential to great espresso, and the Alex II's large 2 Liter horizontal copper insulated heat exchange boiler is at the heart of maintaining precise temperature control.

The heat exchange boiler system design allows brewing and steaming simultaneously. Along with the insulated boiler it includes a 1400 watt element and a resettable high?limit breaker. There is also a high?quality vacuum breaker that can be put on a timer with no vapor lock, so once the Alex II is up to temperature, it can brew all day. For safety a low water sensor will cut off power to the boiler and the pump to protect vital components.

Brewing

• E-61 Brew Head: This commercial class E-61 brew group regulates temperature for brewing excellent espresso and features a thermal siphon design which stabilizes the brew group's temperature during periods of inactivity.
• 3-Way Bi-pass Valve & Lever Control: The Alex II incorporates a simple lever design for shot initiation and, once you end the shot, pressure will be released via the 3-way valve, leaving you with a dry puck for easy disposal.
• Gicar proportional–integral–derivative controller (PID controller):  The Alex II has been fitted with a Gicar PID that lets you dial in your boiler's temperature, which will precisely determine the temperature of the water in the heat exchange system that feeds the brew head.
• High Capacity Water Reservoir or Plumbing Option, and Rotary Pump
• The Alex II’s large water reservoir holds up to 3 liters of water or you can flip a built?in lever located behind the drip tray and plumb Alex II directly to a water source. A stainless steel braided water-line is included.
• The commercial?grade rotary pump provides near silent operation.
• No?Burn Steam & Hot Water Nozzles
• The Alex II is fitted with insulated, swiveling, no-burn stainless steel steam and hot water wands. The 4?hole .9mm steam produces silky microfoam. Both the steam wand and the hot water dispenser are ball mounted so they can easily be rotated for convenient steaming operations.

• Stainless Steel Construction: The Alex II features all stainless steel construction including a double?walled outer frame. The polished body features a removable cup warmer and large removable drip tray and grate.
• Insulated Copper Boiler: A large, insulated 2 liter copper boiler with heat exchanger technology is the heart of the design for maintaining economical control of water temperature. It allows you to steam and brew at the same time.
• Brass 58 mm Portafilters: Heavy chrome-plated brass portafilters provide you with excellent temperature stability and stand up to extensive use. ( one single and one double)
