All it takes is the simple touch of a button— you don’t even move the cup. Delicious coffee or espresso – in seconds-- one or two cups at a time. Grind, tamp and brew in seconds. The Impressa S9 One Touch comes equipped with a commercial-grade conical burr grinder, a hot water dispenser for making Café Americanos or tea, a separate coffee funnel for brewing ground coffee, automatic cleaning cycles, the Clearyl water filtration system to purify water (thus significantly reducing the need for decalcification), and a large cup-warming platform.

Getting acquainted

Composition

The Jura Capresso S9 One Touch has 2 separate stainless steel-lined ThermoBlock heating systems with stainless steel grids, an 18-bar power group, thick ABS plastic, commercial conical steel burrs with 6 fineness settings, a 10 oz. bean hopper and stainless steel cup-warming platform. Measuring 14.75"x13.5"x15" (HxWxL), the machine weighs 21 lbs. The machine also comes with a 96 oz. removable water tank and a 20 oz. stainless steel thermal milk container. The spout is height adjustable, ranging from 2.6" to 6".

Programmable

Easy to read LED display and easy navigation with the rotary dial for volume adjustment while brewing. Fully programmable for all coffee, frothing and hot water functions, the S9 One Touch lets you set temperature, volume and strength for each button. Make one or two cups at a time, from one to a full 16 ounces. Choose from 3 water temperature settings. Cappuccinos, lattes and more are at the touch of a button. The S9 can be set to 7 different languages, time in European and American formats, displays cup sizes, keeps track of all activities, and can be set to turn on and off automatically. The S9 reminds the user when to run rinse and cleaning cycles, including integrated cappuccino rinsing and cleaning cycles. And it permanently stores all settings and activities in its built-in memory system.

Insulated stainless steel milk container and electronic level sensor

Insulated stainless steel milk container keeps your milk cold for up to 8 hours. The electronic level sensor alerts you when you are running low on beans.

Get ready to brew

First, turn on your machine, and then fill the reservoir. Then add beans and select your coffee button. If you prefer preground coffee (specialty or decaf), the S9 is equipped with a funnel. Make sure you have a large cup under the spouts. Don’t drink this first cup because it’s going to be weak as it takes a cycle to get the beans into the chamber correctly.

After brewing your first cup you can adjust the grind to your taste and bean type. Once you’ve set your programs, all you have to do is hit your cup size and the S9 will automatically grind, tamp, pre-infuse and brew your coffee to your liking. If you need to create a specialty drink not programmed in the machine, simply use the a la carte button to temporarily override your presets. The machine will then return to your programmed selections.

Creating your drink

Select and Brew

First set your selector dial-- Choose from brewing (quantity and size), hot water, steaming or frothing-- depending on what you want. You can also increase or decrease strength or volume of your coffee.(Choose from 5-15 grams of coffee per serving.) Put your cup (cups) under the spouts and go. Because you’ve pre-programmed everything, that’s all you have to do each time you use your S9. It’s that simple. Of course, you can always go back to the programming mode to change or readjust anything you like. But once you’ve set your programs all you have to do is hit your cup size and the S9 will automatically grind, tamp, pre-infuse and brew your coffee to your liking. Remember, the rotary dial allows you to temporarily override the the programming to prepare a special cup.

The finishing touches

Steam and froth

With one touch of a button, you can create cappuccinos and lattes and all your favorite foamy drinks without having to move your cup. It's that easy! No mess. No fuss. Your coffee is ground, the chilled milk is siphoned, heated and frothed into your cup. The coffee is then brewed without ever moving your cup. With an 18-bar power pump, you are always assured of high pressure brewed coffee-- and always perfect crema for perfect drinks!

Care and maintenance

Easy maintenance

The display will indicate automatic cleaning and replenishing programs for: fill water, fill beans, empty used coffee, rinse coffee spout, cappuccino rinsing and cleaning, tablet cleaning, replace Clearyl filter (which significantly reduces the need for decalcification).

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

Outstanding machine; it exceeded my expectations when it comes to functions and ease of use. Love the instructional DVD, as I find reading the instruction booklets not something I truly enjoy. I upgraded from a 4.5 year old Gaggia Synchrony Logic which served me well, with no issues until now (it started to leak). Instead of investing in the repair, I decided to upgrade to Jura-Capresso, as one thing I missed is latte, manual frothing included too many steps and I ended up mostly pouring cold milk into my coffee, which significantly lowered the coffee temperature. I just tested the Jura Capresso and I must say I'm impressed, the coffee is better than the one at Starbucks, and since I love good lattes and cappucinos I consider it money well spend. I hope it will serve me well in the years to come. Also, I did my research; I selected Jura Capresso for its sleek looks, functionality and most importantly, the flat fee repair service, if I ever needed one. No other company offers this peace of mind, others require you to ship the product, pay for the shipping and then they contact you to tell you what's wrong and how much it will cost...if you feel it is not worth the repair cost, you still end up wasting the money on the shipping it both ways, which I'm sure is not cheap.

After two years, I have had only two minor problems during a decal procedure - both of which were dealt with with the help of Jura over the phone. I have very hard water here and must go through a few cleans and decals a year. Although this takes a while, it has kept my machine running smoothly. Consistent shots every time, great americanos and latte - and so easy to use all my guests quickly learn to make their own. Most people who have tried it at my house now want one.

What's Best About this Product?

Ease of use and consistant results. The machine cost seems prohibitive to some, but my 5$ a day latte - 5 days a week was a $1100 habit a year. I bought this machine refrubished and paid for it the first year. So worth every penny!

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Do not use "oily" beans as they clog up the grinder or change your grinder settings.

My wife and I have a coffee habit. We purchased an E8 in early 2006, but it quit on us this summer (2010). Williams-Sonoma's excellent customer service backed the product and we decided to purchase the S9 as a replacement/upgrade. We purchased it from Sur La Table after research on their warranty. The machine was beautiful, fast, and produced a consistent product, but the frother was difficult to clean and the coffee was noticeably more bitter than it was in our E8 - regardless of the "strength" setting. Overall, we liked the way that the machine worked (with the exception of the frothing/cleaning) but the product wasn't what we were used to.

I have three Jura machines. One at the office, one in a second home and one in our main house. One of the machines is close to 10 years OLD!! It has NEVER given us any problems and still going strong after close to 20K coffees!! Today, the little handle to open the steam broke (my fault). I called Jura and they sent me a replacement part FOR FREE!!! I have never experienced this level of customer service. The coffee is out of this world and so is the customer service. I have had two other brands of machines (SAECO and Gaggia). In my opinion, they do not compare with Jura. Do yourself a favor - buy a JURA!!!

I checked reviews and went back and forth trying to figure out the best machine for us. I started out wanting to spend near 1k but couldn't find the features I wanted at that price. I graduated upwards to this super automatic machine because it was the lowest priced one that seemed to do it all and had good ratings too. I also find no refurbished of this machine and I took that to mean few returns of it. I'm very new to this - love my white mochas and hubby loves just coffee (Americanos), but after figuring out how to get the milk steaming hot, it makes delicious white mochas and hubby is loving the coffee too.

I own a S8 Model. This is my second Jura machine. My first unit was a low end Jura and they had a recall on it. They offered me a free replacement of the same model or I could upgrade to a high end model for a small price increase. I have had the upgraded unit for 4 years. I must state that this model is not made any more but it is very close to the S9 unit. After 4 years and 3600 cups (coffee counter in the software) the machine had a problem. I sent it back to Jura for a flat fee that they charge $275.00. That included shipping both ways in the fee. They replaced the brewing unit, grinder, steam generator and heater. Basically the entire insides of the unit. They use only new parts not refurbished parts. I found out the problem was me using coffee with to much oil. They told me how to correct the problem, set the beans on a paper towel for 5 hours before you use them. The oil will be removed on the outside of the bean. I must state the beans I have used had a lot of oil on them. Some coffee beans or so rich with oil it comes off on your hands. So I had gotten to much oil in the brewing chamber and though out the machine. My point on all of this is how many other manufacturers are going to fix your machine if it does break for a flat rate of $275.00? They could have been like other manufactures and charged me $200.00 for each component and added $200.00 for labor plus shipping. I have had Jura for over 7 years now and I will not be changing brands ever. Remember It not allways the sale thats important. Its the surport if it does break $275.00 flat fee repair. one more note the malabar Gold coffee is one of the best brands of coffee I have ever had. I purchased my 2 machines for this company.

This machine is fantastic. the initial set up is simple and the operation itself is simple. Having the ability to make a cappuccino to my exact specs. with one touch is quite a convenience. I otherwise would not make one because I am lazy. The taste of the espresso and crema coffee are perfect in my opinion. Having the ability to fine tune strength, size, and temperature is a huge plus for this machine. Who cares if it cost more then my first car - I need my coffee and I need it now!

I've had this machine for 3 years now and the coffee I am drinking now is just as good as the first one I got 3 years ago. My machine gets daily use from my family and used quite extensively over most weekends with family and friends. This machine is very consistent from one brew to the next. Flavor, temperature, creme, grind and time to pour are all as consistent as only a machine can do. I understand that a lot of purists are not big fans of the espresso produced by most super automatics and that a well trained barista could do a better job - I'm sure they are right. In my house though I am not a well trained barista, do not have that level of interest in becoming one and am completely satisfied with what I'm getting from this machine. If you like the coffee drinks you're getting from "large national chain" then you'll like the coffee that the Capresso S9 produces. I did have a problem with my machine one time. I flipped the power breaker for the circuit it was connected to without unplugging the machine - the power surge fried the main control board. When I called Capresso they sent me a box with pre-paid shipping. They replaced the main board and returned my system within 1 week and at no cost for repair or shipping. I have seen reviews that Capresso sends you another machine instead of repairing and sending you back your own machine - that was not the case with my experience.

Be nice to have an option to connect it to a permanant water supply line. Some plastic parts, though they don't feel cheap, I am concerned with how long they will last and how much it will cost to replace when it's no longer under warranty.

After about 2 years the machine had a shorted cord.and had to go in for service at $150.00..The claris water filters at about $20 each needs replacement every 2 mos. or 500 cups.. My first Jura-Capresso Impressa S9 was purchased on November 30, 2004. It has constantly exceeded my expectations and runs like a fine watch; maybe because it is made in Switzerland. It was so good that I bought a second S9 for my office exactly one-year later on November 30, 2005. This machine is quiet, efficient, easy to operate and makes fantastic espresso every time. When used with Illy Caffe espresso it makes a perfect cup every time. It does spoil you for any retail coffeehouse espresso as they cannot compare with this combination.
