In a reprise of the first digital coffee maker with a Pump-Automatic-Cappuccino-System, Jura-Capresso offers the classic dual purpose CoffeeTEC Coffee Maker and Cappuccino Machine. The powerful 1250 watt heating unit lets it fill the 10-cup stainless steel thermal carafe with fresh coffee in less than 8 minutes producing more aroma and les bitterness. The brew-through-the-closed-lid technology then keeps the coffee hot for hours. This means you can load the machine, preset the 24 hour timer to come on just before you arrive at the office, and a fresh pot of coffee will be waiting to greet you when you arrive. You can also adjust the batch size from 3 to 5 to 10 cups as you desire.
As an added bonus for the cappuccino lover, the patented Pump-Auto-Cappuccino-System (PACS) converts cold milk into hot milk & froth in 30 seconds. A control valve lets you adjust the temperature of the hot milk. For a cappuccino you won’t need a frothing pitcher, the PACS dispenses the proper amount of hot milk and froth right into your cup.
The permanent gold-tone filter cleans up with a rinse, and you’ll be all set to refill and brew the next batch quickly.
There are 5 signal lights for on/off, programming, auto mode, 3-5 cup selection, and “steam ready” indications on the control panel. You can easily adjust settings for the amount of coffee, and using the combination dial and push button unit set the advanced programmable digital clock/timer with its bright LCD display, AM / PM indicator, and 2-hour safety shutoff.
A large steam control knob lets you switch the steam unit on. It comes up to steaming temperature in about 10 seconds and you can then heat and froth the milk for cappuccino or even hot chocolate. An adjustable valve lets you increase or decrease the temperature of the milk.
The Jura-Capresso CoffeeTEC stays in a stand-by mode once brewing is completed for 2-hours so you can prepare another cup of hot coffee during that time. It will then shut itself off for safety.
The Jura-Capresso CoffeeTEC’s patented Pump-Auto-Cappuccino-System (PACS) with its electronically-controlled steam pump delivers hot milk and froth for up to 8 regular cappuccinos (32oz) at a time directly into your coffee mug or cappuccino cup in 30 seconds. To operate turn the steam selector dial to “Steam On” and in 10 seconds you can be making hot milk and froth for cappuccino’s or hot chocolates. An adjustable valve lets you increase or decrease the temperature of the milk.
The PACS comes with its own 32oz cold milk reservoir, which can be stored in your refrigerator when not in use to keep your milk fresh. It can also be filled with chocolate milk and then in seconds you will be making hot chocolate with rich foam on top!
The Jura-Capresso CoffeeTEC is housed in an easily cleaned contemporary black plastic, with matte silver operating buttons, and brushed stainless steel accents. Parts for the auto-frothing system are constructed of brushed and translucent plastic. The water reservoir is heavy gauge plastic. The milk reservoir, lid and milk steaming and delivery components are made of plastic for easy cleaning and assembly/disassembly.
The Jura-Capresso CoffeeTEC’s unbreakable stainless-steel 10-cup (50oz) thermal carafe has some small design touches that make it easier to avoid spills. A dot on the lid indicates whether the unique carafe lid is open for pouring or closed for brewing. The brew-through-the-closed-lid technology of the brushed stainless-steel thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for up to 4 hours. The spout of the carafe is wide but sufficiently pointed to enable pouring without drips.
There is no warming plate needed for the Jura-Capresso CoffeeTEC’s stainless-steel thermal carafe so it rests on an unheated plastic base that is easy to clean. The cappuccino side has a small circular drip tray as a base on which to place a cup. It is easy to remove and simple to clean.
The removable water reservoir for the Capresso CoffeeTEC has cup markings, 2 valves and is very unique. Its design greatly simplifies the process of making cappuccino and other drinks. The removable reservoir is made of translucent plastic and has a handle for easy carrying. It is located on the back, but is visible on the right side of the machine. This is where the fluid level indicator lines appear. The frothing system pulls water from a recessed portion of the reservoir, so the indicator marks are skewed to reflect this additional space. Having this extra room in the reservoir enables you to begin frothing or steaming almost immediately after brewing and, by only filling this area, also allows you to use this function without brewing.
The filter for the Capresso CoffeeTEC has one very unusual feature: a safety button that prevents the filter from swinging out at inopportune moments. Given the infrequency of a filter coming loose, the best aspect of this feature is the simplicity of the release when you go to discard the used grounds. You won’t get your fingers anywhere near a warm or wet surface. The machine comes with a permanent lifetime GoldTone filter, but you can also use a #4 paper cone filter.

It's still going strong and we were just commenting on how this machine was the right pick, when I decided to go shop for a spare once our current one would run out. We bought ours late 06 and we have used it HEAVILY. I mean 5 or 6 full pots a day. Sure, we got suckered into some of the fancy machines like the Tassimo and the k-cups but those were WAY too expensive for continuous use and we found that we could brew a better cup ourselves with good fresh beans. We love the thermal carafe, sure it does not keep it hot for 8 hrs but I can make a pot, let it stand for 1 hr and it will still be close to optimal temp. Do consider rinsing the pot with very hot water before hand to warm it up and you will have even better lasting results. Again,we have tried other brands and types of brewers like a Bunn, Bosch Krups and even tried the Tassimo. In the end we always brought this one back out since it uses the least amount of grind to get the very best brew. And now we are buying a spare, just in case this one dies. Remember, it will last well past 6 years if you clean it regularly. We do a monthly vinegar run. Enjoy!

Least grind compared to others. Thermal carafe is flawless, compared to other brands. Best tasting coffee at right temp.
Just do regular maintenance.

All types from espresso to home roasted beans.
Maybe replace some of the black plastic housing with something more stylish for the kitchen.

I think this is a great machine. Water temp is right up at 200 degrees and contrary to what I've read in other reviews, coffee stays hot in the thermal carafe for over an hour and is warm enough to still enjoy after three to four hours. Further, I find the milk frother to be both easy to use and easy to clean. I've been very disappointed with the normal stick frothers on espresso machines. The Capresso frother takes milk from the milk chamber (or right from the carton with included hose) and dispenses perfect frother with no fuss. Clean up involves running clean water through the system. I found this much easier to clean than the typical froth wands on espresso makers.

200 degrees makes a perfect pot of coffee.
While coffee is still in the carafe and sealed, give it a gentle shake to "mix", before pouring. For cleaning the frother, after running clean wather through frother, take the pieces apart and soak then in warm water, then dry. Chocolate milk through the frother = hot chocolate Chai tea conentrate and milk through frother = chai latte

Good value, even if you pay full price (~$199). Thermal carafe maintains temperature well. Frother seems complicated but becomes easy to use and clean after first few uses. Brews fast but not at the expense of flavor. No mechanical problems so far (13 months).

Thermal carafe and frother.

Green Mountain, Gevalia, Illy, Lavazza, even Folgers. Usually bean, but occasionally ground
The steam could replenish faster between froth cycles.

Whole Latte Love Staff Unfortunately, Capresso is only manufacturing the CoffeeTec in black at this time. Although we do not carry another machine that has a built-in auto-frother, if youre looking for a thermal coffee maker that does come in white, I would recommend taking a look at the Cuisinart Programmable Therm.
