Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One Touch

Features

A refined super automatic espresso machine, the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One-Touch Super-Automatic represents the next generation of home coffee solutions. Jura-Capresso has created the Z7 based on the popular Z5 and Z6 platforms; however, this machine has been upgraded to feature a height and width-adjustable beverage dispenser and simpler beverage volume controls. You’ll still have dedicated buttons for milk, macchiato, cappuccino, ristretto, espresso, coffee, special coffee, and hot water. However, instead of having one button for a single serving and another for a double, you can simply select the desired beverage and press the button twice for a larger portion. With the machine’s one-touch capabilities, you’ll never have to move your cup; even milk-based beverages, such as lattes, macchiatos, and cappuccinos are dispensed on the spot.

As with its predecessors, the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One-Touch comes with a two 1350-watt thermoblock heating systems and a 15-bar pump for quick drink preparation. This sophisticated super automatic also has a host of programmable options, allowing you to customize coffee volume, temperature and strength as well as milk volume, hot water temperature, the auto off setting, water hardness, and energy saving mode. An integrated grinder, bypass doser, manual and automatic steaming options ensure that the flexible Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One-Touch will be able accommodate a variety of user preferences. This Jura-Capresso model comes with a Clearyl ENA water filter, a water hardness test strip, a 7-gram coffee scoop, two Jura Cleaning Tablets, milk frother cleaner, and an instructional DVD.

One-Touch Drink Options

Select the desired beverage and the Z7 will grind, tamp, and extract in less than 60 seconds. It can even steam or froth milk, as necessary, to dispense a fully finished cappuccino, latte or macchiato into your cup.

Programmable Options

The Jura Impressa Z7 is equipped with 8 beverage selections. You can program the temperature, strength and volume for each of the 8 drink selections to suit your tastes. Choose from 5 coffee strength and 3 temperature settings, then set the coffee volume anywhere from 0.5-16oz to customize your drink. There are also 3 hot water temperature settings and 3 energy saving levels to choose from. In addition, the milk element can be programmed to dispense from 3 to 20 seconds to deliver the desired volume; you can also set the machine’s pause option (0-60 seconds) as well as the auto-off safety feature (15min-15hrs).

Grinder and Bypass Doser

The integrated conical burr grinder can be adjusted on a continuous scale using the dedicated knob, located on the top of the machine. The coffee strength (mild, normal, strong, or extra-strong) can be selected before or during the grinding process. This model features a generous 10oz bean hopper that will let you safely store whole bean coffee. The Z7 also has a bypass doser to allow you to brew using pre-ground coffee.

Thermoblock Boilers

This powerful super-automatic espresso machine has two stainless steel lined thermoblock boilers. Dual boilers ensure quick machine warm up and help minimize down time between extraction and steaming or frothing.

Water Reservoir

The 96oz water reservoir is detachable for easy refilling and maintenance. This model comes with a Clearyl ENA filter to remove impurities from your tap water.

Drink Dispenser

The Impressa Z7 has been upgraded to include a height and width adjustable drink dispenser. The dispenser can be moved up or down to accommodate a variety of cup sizes and the distance between the spouts can be increased or decreased as necessary. You’ll have up to 6” of clearance with the dispenser raised to the very top.

Milk Systems

The adaptable Jura Impressa Z7 an automated frothing system. Using the automatic Cappuccino System, the machine will siphon and steam or froth the milk and dispense it right into your cup. This advanced system makes creating lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos and other specialty beverages simple and straightforward.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The Z7’s LED display will alert you when cleaning or maintenance is required. The alerts are designed to notify you when the drip tray or dregs drawer need to be emptied, it will also remind you to rinse the Cappuccino System or change the water filter. This machine goes through a rinse cycle every time it is activated to ensure that it remains in optimal condition, even with heavy use.

Many people claim they can't get through the day without their morning coffee. Meanwhile, other members of the coffee culture can't do without their morning espressos, cappuccinos, or other specialty coffee beverages. Gauging by the astronomical number of Starbucks throughout this country (about 11,000), I'd consider that proof that a lot people prefer something a little fancier than a cup of drip to start their day off right. In response to this elevated demand for specialty coffee drinks, the development of high quality home espresso machines like the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine have also increased. The Z7 allows one to create coffee perfection at the touch of a single button. At a cheaper price than Starbucks. And, most importantly, in the comfort of your own kitchen.

You can also adjust the settings of each drink to accommodate your specific tastes i.e. a stronger dosage of coffee or a finer grind setting of your favorite beans, it is incredibly simple to do. The LED display walks you through each step with simple and clear directions. It will also alert you when it is time to clean the machine, refill your water reservoir or bean hopper, and when to empty your dredge drawer. Simple.

As Easy as it Gets: The Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7

Jura-Capresso has impressed me every time I've taken one of their machines out of the box, and my experience was no different with the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One-Touch-Super-Automatic Espresso Machine. Going back to basics, I was happy to see that the Z7 eschewed a full color display for the simplicity of eight one-touch buttons, one for every drink option the machine has to offer.

Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine drinks select buttons from www.wholelattelove.com

I prefer having all the selections available to me without any additional required navigation to make a selection like the Jura-Capresso Impressa J9.

I like the Impressa Z7's huge side mounted water tank, 2.8 liters to be precise, the largest capacity of any of the Jura-Capresso machines I've looked at yet. I loved that the Impressa Z7's water tank is made of classy looking black plastic and features a built-in sight glass that still lets me eyeball the water level. The large water capacity of course means less frequent fill-ups, and coupled with the eight one-touch pre-set drink buttons it’s easy for guests to use which makes it a great entertainment and party machine.

Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine water reservoir sight glass from www.wholelattelove.com

Another attractive design feature of the Z7 was the location of the bypass doser. The doser on the Impressa Z7 is located inside of the same compartment as the bean hopper, which I liked because it cut down on the number of doors on top of the machine. I'll admit that I was a little disappointed to find that there was no fitted slot for the ground coffee scoop that was included with the machine like there is on some Jura-Capresso machines.

When it comes to aesthetics, the Impressa Z7 sports a black plastic case with a silver plastic front panel. It's got a standard red text LED display; however, the screen is large enough to display pictures as well such as a coffee cup to indicate that the machine is ready to brew or water when it needs rinsing.

Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine status display from www.wholelattelove.com

Programming is accomplished using a rotary dial located on top of the machine and you can change things like drink strength, energy saver functions, and the display language.

I was surprised to see that the Z7 boasts three sets of spouts instead of the usual two. There was a regular set of dual espresso spouts that could be used to brew two coffee drinks at once, the dual spouted Frothxpress cappuccino system for milk drinks, and a unique third spout for hot water. All of the spouts are height adjustable for a clearance of approximately 2.5” to 4” for the espresso and hot water spouts and 4” to 6” for the cappuccino spouts. I can also happily say that the Impressa Z7 is equipped with lights that illuminate your drinks while they brew, which was one of my favorite features of the Impressa J9. It looks really cool and makes the experience feel almost like a performance.

Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine dual spouts from www.wholelattelove.com

While I was brewing, I was able adjust the strength and volume of my drink by turning the Z7's rotary dial. I've found that the rotary dial is a standard fare for most Jura-Capresso machines, and with this being the third one I've looked at, I knew how to use it. The machine brewed quickly and quietly, all with just the push of a button.

As the last super-automatic machine I'll be looking at for a while, The Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 was a good way to say goodbye to the one-touch convenience I've grown to love. Anyone looking for a reliable super-automatic machine with robust features need look no further than the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7!

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

Perfect in every way. Coffee is excellent with perfect creme and ease-of-use. Expensive yes, but you get what you pay for - Quality. Previous machine was Gaggia Titanium. Jura One Touch is much more expensive, but the coffee is infinitely higher quality. You will love this machine. Have owned now since spring 2011 and not a single issue.

Ok, I'm getting ready to upgrade my old Impressa E8, which I have dearly loved for years, I'm looking at the Z7 but I am concerned about the height of the doors to access the beans and water. The specs say the machine is 14.5 H can you tell me how much more the opened door adds? Also, how is this machine at making an americano coffee? Stacey Thompson

A A Stacey,
With the doors open, the machine is about 18 inches tall. That gives you enough room to lift the water tank up and out when it is time to refill it. And yes, it makes great Americanos! The hot water spout is attached right onto the brew head, so once you are done brewing your espresso, you just scoot the cup over a little and add the hot water.

Currently own the Z6 from you people. Thinking of taking it to work and getting this Z7 for home.
Would be interested in reviewing the new Z7 manual for a comparison with a though to upgrading.
Any way I can download a Z7 manual?

Hi! What is practical difference really between Z7, Z6 and S9? I can see the difference in specs between Z6 and S9 (can't compare with Z7 on your site, though). But I do not understand what it all means for actually using one machine versus the other. What would you recommend for a household where making espresso/american type drinks in the morning is the main use. Also, which one is the quietest? Thank you.

mjackson ♦ Victoria,

The Z7 and the Z6 are very similar. The Z7 does have a few newer features that are nice. Such as the newer improved auto steam device. It does give you better foam and steamed milk. It also has coffee outlets that you can adjust side to side. I may also suggest you look at the Gaggia Academia as it is quieter and will brew a better espresso. It does have ceramic burrs that work better then the Jura metal burrs. It is a better espresso. Please give us a call if you have questions.

Michael Rosso ♦ Alexandra...Thank you for your interest in the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 One Touch. This machine has an all ABS plastic housing (which really does not effect the quality of espresso it brews), and is more of a silver in color than chrome. I hope this information answers your question, however if you have anymore questions please feel free to contact us directly at 1-888-411-5282 option 1. Thanks.

The water reservoir for the Z7 holds 96 ounces of water and the J9 holds 71 ounces. The Z7 uses push button for beverage control. The J9 has a Rotary dial with Interactive Display. Alberto Gatenio Why is the Z5 the same price as the Z7 if the Z7 is more advanced?
Also, if 8 bar is the right pressure, why do these machines go to 15 or 18 bar?
Thanks.
