The Keurig Platinum B70 Gourmet K-Cup Home Brewing System will change the way you think about making coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. Keurig has designed a single-cup brewing system that uses a disposable K-cup to store, filter and dispense ground coffee. In less than 60 seconds, it brews directly into your mug. Don’t worry about what to do when entertaining guests – this machine brews much faster than a traditional coffee maker, and you can change cup size to brew a greater volume with each serving.
To begin, pull up the chrome lever above the cup station, then place your K-cup inside and pull the lever down to close it. A sharp point pierces the carefully sealed K-cup both on the top and the bottom, enabling brewing. Place your cup under the dispenser and press the brew button. There’s no carafe to rinse out, and with all the water extracted from the K-cup, you won’t be cleaning up any spills. All that’s left to do is remove the K-cup and throw it away. Best of all, the Platinum B70 uses Quiet Brew™ technology – so get ready for your quietest, most peaceful morning yet.
The LCD control panel is blue backlit, displaying a digital clock and programming options. Its auto-on feature means that you can wake up to a machine ready to brew, and its auto-off feature allows it to be programmed to shut off at a specific time, or shut off after a certain amount of time has lapsed since the last brewing. Choose your brewing temperature and cup size (12, 10, 8, or 6 oz). The control center will inform you when the water reservoir needs refilling, and when the machine is ready to brew.
Don’t let the Platinum B70’s simplicity and speed fool you into thinking you won’t have variety. K-cup selection includes your favorite brands like Green Mountain, Gloria Jean’s, Bigelow, Celestial Seasonings, Tully’s, and Newman’s Own. Over 150 varieties of tea, coffee, and hot cocoa are available.
Each K-cup is designed to bring out the most flavor from your coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Its tight seal locks out heat, light, and moisture. The K-cup’s built-in filter means that no grinds or tea leaves can make their way into your mug. Compact and colorful, K-cups stack easily for storage or great displays.
Built from durable black plastic and accented with chrome, the Platinum B70 is made more elegant by its blue backlit LCD control center and water reservoir. The LCD screen is now 45% larger than the earlier B60 model, making it even easier to read.
The removable water reservoir holds 60 oz of water. When the LCD control panel lets you know you’re running low on water, simply open the reservoir lid and pour water in, or remove the reservoir and fill at the tap. Either way you choose, its slender design makes it comfortable to hold and handle.
The chrome-accented drip tray is removable, making cleaning a snap. For especially tall glasses, remove the tray and fit the cup under the beverage dispenser.

The idea is good. The problem is with the coffee itself. NO ENOUGH COFFEE in the cup of whatever but does not favorbly compare with a regular coffee maker

The Keurig B70 is awesome. It is very quiet, and easy to use. You do have to scroll through the brew size every time you use it, if you don't want the programmed size, but that is no big deal - it is worth it for the cup size option. I use the smallest size to make lattes at home. I also have the My K-cup, which is easy to use and I like using my own coffee besides the pre-packaged K-cups. Plus, it makes less trash. :) I wish they had Constant Comment Tea for my husband, but so far they do not.

The My K-Cups are easy to use, just don't grind the coffee to fine or it clogs and/or overflows. (per the instructions)

I've had the Keurig B60 machine for 5 years. I've absolutely loved it. I wanted to upgrade and put my old one in my motorhome. I was going to go with the B70, but my 2 sister in laws have it and I don't like how you have to go through the menu to change the brew setting (my husband likes the large and I like the medium). I looked into the Breville Keurig and you don't need to do this. It's the same machine/functions as the B70, but this one little feature sold me. xxxxxxxxx I love it! It's so quiet - quieter then my other. I know alot of people complain about the noise. Everyone I know has a very noisy one - but I gotta tell you, this Breville is the quietest one I've seen. It was worth every penny. It looks beautiful and it works perfectly. I do agree that the Kcups get expensive - xxxxxxx

Looks and quiet. The Keurig Company is always very helpful and knowledgeable.
I found that the Breville makes the coffee REALLY hot, so I turned down the temperature and it's fine now.

I like my Keurig coffee maker.I agree with another review it does get expensive using the K-Kups.I like the variety of flavors they have.I decided to buy the filter and use my own coffee. Will still use them on occasions. Also wish the coffee would be a little hotter. It says its 192 degrees but I question that.

This is a neat coffee machine and very easy to use. However, it is very expensive. The hot chocolate is VERY weak and if you open the pod, much of the chocolate is still there! I tried buying the reusable pod made for this machine and too much water comes through - the coffee is VERY weak using it. Overall, its a nice machine, but very wasteful and expensive I think.

Would love to use my own coffee blend in it without having to take out the insert and put another in.

The Keurig B70 has really revolutionized my week-day coffee brewing. I was first introduced to Keurig brewers at a high-end stereo shop in Washington. The owner made me a cup of coffee to enjoy while we were picking up some equipment and I was very much impressed with how good the coffee was. I drink coffee and/or tea daily and my husband only drinks it on weekends. The Keurig lets me brew a cup at a time, whenever I'm in the mood, with no wasted left-over coffee. It's unbelievably fast, super-easy to use, and the convenience can't be beat.

I love the speed and ease of brewing fresh coffee, a cup at a time. The B70 also has 4 pre-programmed cup sizes so you can adjust the amount it brews according to your cup size or the strength of coffee you prefer. If you're a tea drinker, there are K-cups for tea or you can simply dispense the hot water into your cup or mug to infuse the leaves. It's also handy in the kitchen for a quick shot of hot water for soaking dried mushrooms or other rehydrating tasks.
Prewarming your mug or cup with a blank shot of hot water will keep your coffee warmer longer.

Thanksgiving, assorted K-cups that came with machine.
My only "complaint" is that the K-cups are one-use only. You can't beat them for convenience and no-muss-no-fuss cleanup, but it somehow bothers me to toss them in the trash. That concern is solved, however, by getting the optional My K-cup that has a reusable filter that you can load with your own coffee.
Capresso dual espresso/coffeemaker
The K-cups that go with this machine have their own self-contained filters. I also purchased a My K-cup that lets me use my own coffee and cuts down on waste from the disposable K-cups.

you guys did a video about this Keurig machine, I'm not so sure how long ago but how do you feel about the B70K now?
I have a Bunn Phase Brew and an old Saeco Espresso machine, I sort of need something for that one cup of coffee situation.
thanks,
Marty

mjackson ♦ Martin,
I have a lot of friends that have the Keurig machine and love it. I think it is perfect for a quick convenient cup of coffee. I still like the B70 and it should suit your needs.
mjackson ♦ I do not think there is many issues at all. The issues may just be related to the product. It is more expensive per serving as compared to grinding your own. You will not really want to brew more then about 9 ounces as the amount of coffee in the little cups is just right for the Smaller cups but to brew a 16 ounce you would want to brew twice
What are the design specifications for this coffee maker? I require such information as brew temperature and other detail specific information.

mjackson ♦ Michael,
The Keurig is designed to brew at 192 degrees. It takes anywhere from 20 to 60 seconds to brew a cup. It brews a great coffee and is easy to use. It seems to be a great gift this holiday season
where can I can the filter for the K70 to fill with my own coffee vs. the K-cup?

Tracys ♦ Hi Paul,
All parts, tech advice, and repairs go directly through Keurig. We can provide you with the phone number for Keurig so you can speak to them directly, which is 1-866-901-2739.
Is there any kind of filter for the water reservoir so I don't have to descale as often?
Thank you

WholeLatteLoveS S They do make a water filtration system, but we do not have it in stock at this time. You can look for it at www.keurig.com
where do you put the filter, my instruction say nothing about a filter.

Tracys ♦ The Water filter is used to filter your water for an even better tasting cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa. Simply assemble and insert in your water reservoir. For use exclusively with the following Keurig brewers purchased after August 2007: Elite, Classic, Ultra, Special Edition, Ultimate, and Platinum.

Michael Rosso ♦ Ernest...Thanks for your interest in the Keurig B70. The Keurig machines are not designed to brew true espresso. True espresso is brewed at 8 to 9 bars of pressure, and the Keurig does not produce that kind of pressure to extract espresso. You can use a ground "espresso" roasted bean in the My Kcup. Thanks.
