La Marzocco’s FB/70 Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine was introduced especially for the company’s 70th Anniversary as a leader in specialty coffee. Its unique design features everything the La Marzocco name is known for, including temperature stability, precise brewing and quality construction. Plus, the FB/70 features stylized, fiberglass paneling to add class to your business. The FB/70’s double-boiler system allows you to brew and steam in unison using its saturated brew groups and omni-directional steam wands, perfect for busy coffee shops with a high demand for espresso-based drinks.
La Marzocco’s FB/70 Semi-Automatic requires little training to operate, so employees of any experience level can successfully create delicious espresso drinks. However, learning the nuances of proper brewing, steaming, and frothing will necessitate more in depth training and practice regimens. Users can be directed to the following articles for detailed descriptions of the brewing and frothing processes, but hands-on training is a must for the best results.
La Marzocco has designed its brew groups to be welded directly to the boiler, allowing hot water to flow through the stainless steel components. This unique design, coupled with the brass construction of the brew groups, prevents heat from being lost during the brewing process, thus creating great-tasting espresso.
The FB/70 semi-automatic features manual brewing controls to make the coffee brewing process simple. The operator will use a single switch for each brew group to start and stop the brewing process, and independent knobs and switches control steam and hot water functions, respectively.
To allow you to control the temperature of the brewing boiler down to the degree, the GB/5 features Proportional Integrated Derivative (PID) temperature control. This techology senses temperature fluxuation in the boiler, and pulses the heating element to maintain the set temperature within a ± 0.5°C variation at all times. With PID technology, you get unbeatable temperature stability, and you can customize a brewing temperature for each type of coffee you use, for the best flavor possible from every roast.
The FB/70 has 2 stainless steel steam wands that are ball-jointed and omni-directional. This provides a maximum range of movement for your frothing needs. And with dual-boiler technology, you can operate the wands simultaneously or individually— even while brewing.
La Marzocco designed the FB/70 for busy for coffee shops and knows that revenue is lost whenever a machine is down for servicing. That’s why the FB/70 comes with back up and bypass functions that allow you to continue to brew and froth even while the machine is undergoing maintenance.
An extra large stainless steel cup warmer on the FB/70 has lots of room for your espresso, latte, and cappuccino cups, ensuring drinks stay nice and hot.
The FB/70 comes in several designs to suit a variety of electrical environments. Choose from 200v (1 or 3 phase), 220v (1 or 3 phase), or 380v (3 phase) depending on your requirements. You can also choose between standard wattage and high wattage heating elements to customize your machine's capabilities.
Since the FB/70 is designed for high output, there are a few parts you should keep on hand for quick replacements. Parts that can wear under constant use are filter baskets, shower screens and group gaskets, so it’s a good idea to check them regularly and replace them when needed.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.
I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!
