Features

The Lavazza Espresso Point gets right to the point of brewing: delicious espresso that you can enjoy in a matter of moments. The Point uses only convenient pre-packaged cartridges that are uniquely designed for use with this Lavazza machine, allowing you to make a shot of espresso without the mess. Each small plastic cartridge is filled with a special blend of Lavazza coffee that will produce great crema and a high quality taste, no grinding, dosing, or tamping needed. There is also a selection of tea, hot chocolate, and even consommé available for use with the machine as well. Please note that the Point is only compatible with these cartridges, not ESE pods.

This Lavazza machine shines in chrome-plated stainless steel housing with brass accents. Its compact size makes it easy to fit on most kitchen counters, and the water tank, with a capacity of up to 3 liters, is accessible from the top of the machine. The Point also features a swiveling steam wand that’s perfect for making cappuccinos and lattes.

Features & Benefits: Coffee

Easy-to-Use Cartridges

The Lavazza Espresso Point offers the ultimate in mess-free production of espresso, tea, hot chocolate, and soup. Simply open the door on the front of the machine, place a plastic cartridge in the slot, and close the door. The door will snap the cartridge into place in the machine for proper brewing. When you put a new cartridge in, the spent cartridge will be automatically pushed into the waiting dump drawer on the bottom of the machine.

Coffee Size Options

With the Lavazza Espresso Point, you can brew manually, or use the pre-set coffee size buttons. On the far right of the Point’s control panel, there are 3 buttons for large, medium, and small coffees. To the left of the small coffee button is the manual dispensing button. When you select a button, the green light next to it will illuminate. If you want to stop the flow of water at any point during pre-set or manual brewing, just press the stop button on the left of the control panel.

Simple Controls

The controls on this Lavazza machine are very straightforward. Press 1 of the 4 coffee buttons to start dispensing and the Point machine will stop automatically when the pre-set quantity is reached. And, dispensing hot water and steam through the steam wand is controlled by a button as well. When in use, a green light will appear next to each button and the power can be turned on and off using the rocker switch on the back of the machine.

Features & Benefits: Frothing & Hot Water

Hot Water Dispenser

If you want to make tea, hot chocolate, or instant soups that aren’t available in a convenient cartridge, you can use the hot water dispenser on the Lavazza Espresso Point. Hot water is dispensed from the end of the steam wand, and because the wand swivels in and out, you can use a variety of cup sizes.

Steam Wand

The Lavazza Espresso Point’s pivoting steam wand provides clearance for milk pitchers, giving you lots of elbow room while you steam and froth. Made of the same chrome-plated stainless steel as the rest of the machine, this wand is easy to clean and maintain.

Features & Benefits: Care, Maintenance & Other

Water Reservoir

This Lavazza machine has a 3-liter reservoir, meaning you’ll have plenty of time between refills. When it’s running low on water, a light will illuminate on the left of the Point’s control panel. The top panel of the machine can be taken off and the reservoir easily removed for cleaning.

Removable Cartridge Drawer

Every time you put in a new cartridge to be brewed, the previous cartridge is automatically pushed into the dump drawer. This drawer, located on the bottom of the Lavazza Espresso Point, can hold up to 30 spent cartridges and can be pulled out and easily cleaned with warm water, non-abrasive solvent, and a sponge.

Housing Construction

The Lavazza Espresso Point has chrome-plated stainless steel with brass accents. A lit cup tray also enhances this elegant and stylish design and subtle green indicator lights on the control panel. The elegant housing is simple to keep clean with just a few wipes with a soft, damp cloth.

Diana Dull Blank cleaning / pre-heating cartridge was accidentally discarded by a well-intentioned friend. I have tried to find a place to order a replacement blank cartridge, but have been unsuccessful. Do you carry these blank cartridges? If not, any suggestions about where to find them? Thanks
11:12 AM 4-21-12
Mark Jackson Diana, I know they do not come with machines anymore. You should get a good cleaner like cleancaf from Urnex and use that instead. I do not think even Lavazza has them available. The best thing to do is clean your machine often with a product like Cleancaf.

Susan Coletti What descaling product is recommended for this machine?
9:16 AM 3-25-12
Michael Rosso Susan...Thank you for your posting to our Super Wall. I suggest you use the Urnex Cleancaf (see link:http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/cleancaf.cfm) for descaling your Lavazza Espresso point. Thanks

William Wittman My Espresso Point machine has stopped working and leaks water out of the bottom instead of dispensing coffee from the spout. Where can I have the machine serviced? I received it PURCHASED from you, but as a GIFT I'm sure it's out of warranty. thanks
3:39 PM 1-5-12
Mark Jackson William, It does have a warranty if you purchased within the last year. That warranty is covered by us. It is a limited warranty and if the machine has not been cared for properly it may not be covered. For an example if it is full of scale from hard water it will void the warranty. If it has been longer then that you can call Lavazza USA at 1-212-725-8800. Then can then direct to a repair shop. I hope this helps.

serge ouanounou Can you make a cup of coffee and then a cup of tea without cleaning the line. In other words will the teas taste partially like coffee. thx, Serge
11:50 AM 11-6-11
Michael Rosso Serge...To rinse your machine between uses, simply use the blank cartridge that is used in the descaling process. Thanks.

David Parish I have a used Espresso Point that seems to have a broken float inside the water tank. Actually, the adapter that holds the float is the broken part. I assume this is why the low water light blinks continually. Is it possible to purchase this part? Thanks.
6:41 PM 9-13-11
Mark Jackson David, We do have some parts available. The best thing to do is call for technical support and then they can go over the parts you need to make sure we have them in stock. They should be able to help.

April Meadows I have a Lavazza Espresso Point machine. I have lost the booklet with it. On the display I have a red light that flashes next to a light bulb. What does this mean?

Mark Jackson Here is a link to the manual - http://cdccoffee.com/pdf/lavazza-espresso-point-user-manual.pdf
9:05 AM EST 7-12-11
Mark Jackson It could mean a few different things such as water issues, descaling or other problems. Here is a link for a manual and you can also call Lavazza at 1-800-466-3287. This should help and good luck.

Michael Pucella I just purchased a Lavazza Espresso Point machine. Can you adjust the amount of water to be dispensed with the automatic buttons?
8:35 PM 1-24-11
Mark Jackson Michael, Yes you can change the cup sizes. You just hit the star button and hold it until the the lights flash. Have a capsule ready to go and then press and hold button you want to program until the size cup you want is brewed, then release button and it is programmed.

danny kerecman Someone helped me this week and recommended Gaggia Brera Espresso Machine in Silver. I am looking to make myself a nice hot strong latte once a day. Only one in the house that drinks coffee. I saw the Lavazza Espresso Point and was wondering the pros and cons of the two machines. On weekends I drink a Starbucks Quad Venti Latte for comparison. I use like the same drink at Seattles Best before they went by by. Thanks for your input. Any suggestion on coffee for my machine based on my taste is also appreciated. Looking forward to my new purchase. Have a great weekend. Great website. Danny
3:51 PM 8-6-10
Tech Milano Danny, for the type of use you are considering, the Gaggia Brera would be a great option as you can brew two shots in a row and then do that again to get your quad and then steam the milk for the latte. The Espresso Point is great in a commercial/office environment as it is easy with the capsules, but that would mean you would have to use 4 capsules per drink you want to make. Also, the Gaggia will allow you the flexibility of using whatever whole bean or pre-ground espresso coffee you want where the Point machine limits you to Lavazza's own selection of Point Cartridges. Give us a call if you need further guidance.

Nancy Dimsdale What is the psi?
12:22 AM 5-29-10
Todd Salzman Hi Nancy, Lavazza does not publish the pump pressure on their machines because to them it is not relevant. They use their specially designed capsules to work with their machine and their pump is standard ULKA pump that can produce approximately 16 bar of pressure. I am not sure the reason for the question but if it is about the pump pressure and the quality of the brew there is nothing to worry about, it does a very nice job. Pump pressure ratings are way over rated. A pump that has the capability of putting out 17 bar will not necessarily make a better espresso that puts out 15 bar. The proper brew pressure on a normal machine is around 9 bar and each pump is matched to the type machine and brewing system that it is in. So I would not worry about the pump pressure on any machines that you see on our site. I hope this is the type of answer you were looking for.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

Excellent quality espresso maker without spending an arm and a leg. This machine is the perfect machine for that on the go person who loves a great cup of espresso at moments notice without requiring alot of prep work or cleanup. The machine produces a tasty piping hot espresso yielding a thick rich crema that one would expect from the perfect cup. The machine heats up in less than 3 minutes and is ready to go upon insertion of the pod. The stainless steel and chrome construction of the machine is far superior to models costing double the price. Machine cleans up easy with a damp cloth in seconds. If you dont want to spend and arm and leg while looking for an exceptional cup of coffee this is the machine for you! If you were looking to purchase a lesser priced model do yourself a favor and go for the Lavazza Point: You wont be disappointed. I made about 30 cups for guests on Thanksgiving: Each and every guest had nothing but positives to express about the coffee and the looks/construction of this machine.
