Features & Benefits: Coffee
Digital Screen and Controls
The digital screen is located directly above the coffee dispensing chute. Above the screen is a silver button – press and hold this button to enter into programming mode. Below the coffee dispensing chute is a red button. This button is positioned so that when you rest your portafilter in the portafilter holder you can push the button with the portafilter to begin grinding.
When in the programming menu, dosage is programmed based on the number of seconds of grinding rather than entering a weight (grams or ounces) to grind. To activate programming mode, press and hold the silver button for ten seconds. Now spin the silver button to reach the settings for a single shot, double shot, or continuous grinding, and press the silver button to enter into your preferred setting. Spin the silver button again to find your preferred coffee dosage in .1 second intervals, and press the silver button to save the new grinding time and to go back to the menu. Spin the silver button until you reach “exit,” then press the silver button to exit out of programming mode.
With your preferences set, place your portafilter in the handle and press it against the red button to begin grinding for a single shot. If you would prefer a double shot or continuous grinding, enter into the programming mode and turn the silver button to the double shot or continuous grinding setting, then press the red button.
Dimensions and Design
The Macap M4 Digital has more than just programming going for it. It uses 250 watts of power and features 58 mm grinding blades rotating at 1400 rpm. The tinted bean hopper holds over a pound of whole beans, and the machine itself weighs 18.8 lbs.
Adjustable Grind Settings
The stepless grind settings are as simple as can be. When the machine is grinding, you can use both hands to turn the grinding ring smoothly to a coarser or finer setting. No lever is needed to change the grind settings.
The body of the M4D Digital can be wiped down with a damp cloth. You can remove all of the machine’s removable parts and hand wash them in warm, soapy water. If needed, grind Urnex Grindz or rice to absorb any leftover coffee oils or residue.
