It is a constant precise performer that relieves you of any worries about grind consistency. The large easy to read control knobs on the side allows you to quickly set grind fineness and grind time. The 65mm steel grinding discs are belt driven by a powerful motor and provide very quick delivery of grinds into your portafilter or drip grinds container. A removable receiver is adjustable to fit all sizes of portafilters and it holds the portafilter steady allowing you to operate the grinder just by setting the portafilter in the receiver where it engages a switch that runs the motor. For drip coffee brewing there is a unique fresh-grinds container that stows inside of the upper bean hopper to keep your grinds fresh!

Dose Controls

The large control knobs provide easy adjustment of grind size and time to establish a pre-set for single-shot dose size. Dosing of double shots can be implemented by gently tapping the start/stop button to cause dispensing of two single-shots.

Grind-on-Demand Dosing

Ground coffee loses more than half of its aroma within about 15 minutes due to oxygen, humidity and light dissolving the volatile aromas out of the broken cells. The whole bean protects the aroma inside the cells until grinding occurs. In order to minimize the aroma loss Grind-on-Demand-grinders only grind the amount of coffee beans that are needed for the shot. Dosing is done by pre-setting the timer and fineness controls. Therefore Grind-on-Demand ensures constant quality in every cup and equal treatment for every customer because every dose for every cup is freshly ground. The Pro M Allround Grinder operates when a portafilter or fresh-grinds container is engaged in the receiver allowing portion controlled fluffy fresh grounds for espresso brewing or drip coffee making to drop right into the portafilter or fresh-grinds container.

Break-Function

A feature called the break-function allows you to interrupt the grind to do a partial tamp by just removing the portafilter. Returning the portafilter to the receiver continues the grind. The controls will remember how much grind time is remaining and the side lamp flashes indicating there is time left on the grind cycle. Tapping the start/stop button erases the remaining time memory.

Grinding large quantities

If you want to grind larger amounts of coffee, use the fresh-grinds container located in the hopper to catch the ground coffee. Remove the portafilter support fixture, set the desired grinding time with the side control knob, insert the fresh-grinds container far enough under the spout to push the start/stop button to trigger the grinding operation.

With grind-on-demand and easy pre-setting of grind size and time for all kinds of portafilters the Pro M provides hands-free operation. And the break-function allows your inner barista to free-fill the portafilter by eye and tamp part-way through dosing.

The unique and convenient fresh-grinds container inside of the bean hopper lets you grind a larger batch for drip coffee making, and provides sealed storage to keep the coffee fresh.

Grinder burrs

The 65mm, (2.56 inches), steel disc burrs will grind the most robust coffee bean with ease. They are very long life and rated for 80,000 doses before needing to be replaced. Depending on fineness setting they can grind 1.5g to 8.5g per second. That means they will grind an average single espresso dose in about 5 seconds.

Bean Hopper

The bean hopper has a 0.57 lb capacity and includes an integrated 9oz capacity fresh-grinds container that sets inside behind a compartment divider. The bean hopper lid covers both containers to keep beans and grinds fresh. There is no slide-gate on this model so the hopper must be emptied either by grinder operation or by tilting the grinder to dispose of the beans before removing the hopper for cleaning.

Safety

Safety devices include a microswitch that senses correct mounting of the bean hopper and keeps the machine from running until the bean hopper is correctly seated and locked into position. A fuse accessible from the footplate protects the machine against external power surges. Jam-ups in the grind chamber are sensed and cause the motor to shut off and the side indicator lamp to blink. There is a sensor that won’t let the machine start if there are no beans in the hopper.
