Suitable Environment

The Mazzer Mini is perfect for light commercial coffee operations because of its professional-grade construction and adjustable doser. Its die-cast aluminum housing and hardened Swedish steel grinding burrs ensure a long life, while the doser allows you to pull the same amount of coffee for every shot. With adjustable dosing amounts ranging from 5.5-9 grams, you can ensure a consistent product for your customers and reduce the margin of error for your employees.

Operation

The Mazzer Mini is very easy to operate for users of almost any level. A knob on the right side of the machine can set the grind time up to 60 seconds and with just a pull of the dispensing handle, a preset amount of grounds are poured into a waiting portafilter. It is also easy to change the grind setting on the Mini by just rotating the adjustment plate under the hopper clockwise or counterclockwise.

Highlights

  • The Mazzer Mini comes with 58 mm hardened Swedish steel grinding burrs that offer fast grinding without overheating your beans.
  • With the Mazzer Mini, you have a virtually infinite number of grind settings to choose from, giving you ultimate control over your coffee grounds.
  • The powerful motor on this Mazzer grinder produces 1600 RPM, but is extremely quiet, making it perfect for mellow cafés or businesses that feature live music.
  • The easy to use doser on the Mazzer Mini can be set to dispense between 5.5 and 9 grams, allowing your employees to brew consistent shots.
  • The short hopper on the Mazzer Mini saves space and can hold up to 1 lbs of whole beans, so fresh coffee is always just a quick grind away.
  • A timer with automatic shut-off on the Mazzer Mini lets you set a grind time of up to 60 seconds, allowing employees to fill the 200-gram doser while multitasking.
  • The stylish, die-cast aluminum housing of the Mini is available in black or silver, so it can match virtually any décor.
  • ETL listed to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Dimensions
    • 16.5"H x 7"W x 11"D

Heavy-Duty Grinding Burrs

High quality espresso and coffee extractions rely on a consistent grind. The flat plate burrs on the Mazzer Mini are made from hardened steel, ensuring they are up for the challenge of commercial use. Removing them for cleaning is also simple by just turning the adjustment plate clockwise until the brass burr hold is unscrewed.

Powerful Motor

The Mazzer Mini features a 250-watt motor that allows the burrs to grind at 1600 RPM. This ensures fast grinding throughout the business day without getting bogged down, so customers never have to wait long for their espresso, cappuccino, or latte. The motor also has an overload switch that will automatically shut it off if a foreign object becomes stuck in the burrs. This prevents overheating and damage to the machine.

Virtually Infinite Grind Settings

Depending on the roast and origin of your beans, the perfect grind is a matter of testing and experience. The adjustment plate can be rotated as precisely as possible, so you can fine-tune your grind as much as you'd like. Plus, the adjustment plate is marked at numbered increments, so you can write down the fineness settings for all of your different coffee recipes.

Simple Dosing System

To ensure a consistent cup of coffee for your customers, the Mazzer Mini features a doser that can hold up to 200 grams of ground coffee. You can set it to dose between 5.5 and 9 grams per pull of the dispensing handle, so you can always use just the right amount of grounds for each batch of coffee or shot of espresso.

Durable Exterior

The Mini’s housing is made of a single solid sheet of die-cast aluminum, so you know it is built to last. Not only is it durable, it’s stylish as well, coming in your choice of 2 co.lors: black or silver. Its clean, modern lines will blend right in with the set-up of any coffee bar.

Daily Maintenance

  • At the end of each day, wipe down the Mazzer Mini’s exterior with a clean, non-abrasive cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive products.

Periodic Maintenance

  • The Mazzer Mini’s 1 lb bean hopper should be removed and washed by hand with a mild detergent whenever it is empty.
  • Depending on your level of use, you should you clean the grinding burrs with Urnex Grindz on a monthly basis. These food-safe, grindable tablets can be ground just like coffee beans to absorb coffee oils and loosen buildup inside of the grinding chamber.

Installation

The Mazzer Mini does not require professional installation and can be set up on any level counter surface away from water. It will plug into any standard 120-volt outlet with ground service.

I am also interested in the silver Mazzer Mini. I noticed the version you have pictured is the original with the plastic tray, and with the cord exiting the rear. Is this the actual model for sale? Or is it the newer version 2 with metal tray, and cord exiting the bottom?

It is the newer version we have in stock and sorry for the confusion on the pictures. Please give us a call if you have any questions regarding the grinder, it is well made and will last for years.

We are going to be purchasing the mazzer mini grinder. We are trying to decide between the silver and black. We have stainless steel in our kitchen and black granite. Our espresso machine is stainless. Is the silver of the mazzer more of a shiny chrome or more of a stainless steel finish? If the color is not stainless-we should probably go with black so that the metals do not clash. Is any of the body plastic? Does either of the machines read as more high quality? The photos are not enough to tell completely which one would work better. Anything you can say would be helpful.

Thanks for the question and I understand your concern. It is more of a chrome looking finish. I think you will be happier with the black. None of the body is plastic and it is a great looking and also well built machine. I do think black is the way to go.

I purchased a Mini Mazzer LUIGI 5 years ago and have been pleased overall. I mostly drink Espresso-based drinks but recently decided to use it for drip coffee. I am unsure of the grind settings to use. I bought a Keurig with the idea I could also grind small amounts for individual cups. What settiing is best for drip? Is the setting for a Keurig the same?

mjackson ♦ Jeff,

Drip coffee and Keurig should be the same. I cant give you a number as it has unlimited settings. I would go about 1/2 to 3/4 of a full turn and try it and see how it works. It is going to be abut getting the correct size. In order to do the K cups you will need to get one of these. http://www.wholelattelove.com/Keurig/my_kcup.cfm

I hope this helps and thanks for the question.

I bought this to grind espresso and drip. I don't think I can adjust it coarse enough for drip. The factory setting sticker is over the 8. When making adjustments for drip it only adjusts to about the 9 1/2 mark before it hits the set screw that stops it. I would like a little more adjustment. Is there anything I can do to get a more course grind? I am not sure this would even be a problem if the factory setting was at a lower number. Thanks for any suggestions.

mjackson ♦ The factory setting should be good for espresso. Ideally you do need a much coarser grind for drip coffee. You may need to remove the screw to be able to make the adjustment more to coarse and then replace the screw.

I have a Jura Z5 and Illy ground decaf coffee clogs it. At $300 to repair it, I want to buy a burr grinder that I can use to buy whole Illy decaf beans, grind them and then place the grounds into the chute of the Z5 to make decaf for my guests. The regular hopper in the Z5 is filled with regular beans, so I need a grinder specifically for the decaf guests. Will the Mini be a grinder that you recommend or something else?

Zack Smith Gregory, When you use the bypass doser make sure that you only use one scoop. When you use more than one the bypass tends to clog up thus needing a repair. There are many grinds that will work to give you a good fine grind. The Mazzer Mini grinder will give you great control over the fineness while giving you unlimited settings. If you would like to discuss other possible grinders feel free to contact me at 888-411-5282 Ex 5193

Sorry for any confusion. It is a brand new grinder as in never been used. It is listed under grinders and also as a prosumer model as it would be considered as a commercial grade grinder as well. It is a great grinder and will last for years.

mjackson ♦ Rick,

Thanks for the good question. You can do it but it takes some work. You have to make sure everything fits and that you also have the right kind of shoot coming out where the grinds exit the machine. It is something we do not usually recommend. If you do a search you can find suggestions on how other people have done the modification.

Grind is as good as it gets

The Mazzer Mini does a better job than the grinder at Starbucks and a local roaster. I use a French Press and a Stove Top Moka so I grind both expresso and drip brew grind. The grind on the courser setting is more consistent than I was getting at both Starbucks and a local Roaster. It also does a much better job on course grounds than the Rancilio Rocky. I removed the finger guard to make it easier to clean after grinding. I find it easier to clean the Mazzer Mini than the Doserless Rocky. The plastic chute on Rocky is harder to sweep clean than the Mini, plus the Mini (because of the doser) does not create as much "dust" around the grinder. My only complaint about the whole process is it took a about 3 weeks to get my credit for the returned Rocky, and when I inquired about the credit, I got the boiler plate response "that it can take up to 30 days to process a credit". I would have expected a small company such as Whole Latte Love to do better than that.

Good grinder, but overpriced and frustrating

The machine does have a great range of grinds. However, it is way overpriced for what it is (unless you're a connoisseur of stainless steel industrial sculpture). Here are my issues: Very hard to clean, and you must make sure when you remove the burrs, you keep track of how you've aligned the machine, or you will have to go through resetting the grind settings; the doser is almost impossible to fully clean, and the the chamber in between is hard to clean; when you do clean it, you get part grease all over you and the springs may come out; the doser leaks all the time when I grind, so it's very messy, also the doser is very inconsistent and sometimes spurts coffee out, so it can be very, very messy, and if you change grinds or types of coffee, because there's almost always residue in the doser, you will get a mix. If you're not dosing for espresso, like for a regular coffee pot, it's very difficult and messy.

Quality Grinder

I bought the Mazzer mini at the same time I bought my office lever and the two work beautifully together. The mini has infinite grind settings with nice steps between settings. grinds consistently and most importantly quietly with no vibration. The doser is consistent and works well. awesome!

I bought this with the Expobar Office for my wife almost three years ago for Xmas. Together we make 8-12 shots per day, so there really isn't any issue with grounds hanging out in the doser. This thing is built like a Moto Guzzi and will last as long. I think of it as another kitchen appliance like my washer and stove- a 20 year investment. Totally worth the cash.

What a machine!

Un-believable! I received my Mazzer Mini as a Christmas present (early...couldn't wait any longer)...and all I can say is...WOW....what a machine. I had used a Solis Maestro for 3 years and it did an adequate job, however...I will be updating my expresso machine soon, and needed a better grinder to keep up! The Mazzer is a work of art...heavy, beautiful, functional...as soon as I flipped the "on" switch the first time, I was amazed....this machine is very quiet, even when grinding beans...and fast, as well....much faster than the Maestro. Comparing the two would be the same as comparing a Ferrari to a Kia...they both get the job done, but what a difference quality makes! I have only run 6 scoops of beans thru the hopper, but I have already gotten $400 worth of joy from it's use. No question, this is an awesome machine, as many of the other posts declare. Yeah, the instructions are a little vague, but the bottom line is really, plug in the machine, put th beans in the hopper and turn of the grinding switch...oh, yeah, don't use this appliance while taking a bath...If you have used other grinders, the Mazzer is much easier than rocket science. Buy it, and quit second-guessing yourself.

just get it

With a high quality espresso machine, one must have a high quality grinder. I believe that the grind may be as important as the machine. If you are on this site, you are likely considering a good quality espresso machine (or already have one; I use an Expobar Office Lever). Save your money, time, and coffee and just get the Mazzer. This is a very high quality machine that produces a consistent grind. It is very quiet and is easy to clean. The coffee is excellent.
