Nespresso Essenza C100
Do you know of any stores that let you try the espresso that comes out of this machine before purchasing? That would be very helpful for deciding if this is the machine we want.

Chances are good that your mornings are hectic, but you have the routine down to a science. There isn’t a spare moment from the first buzz of your alarm clock that wrenches you from sleep to rushing out your front door. How could you possibly have time for a morning espresso?
That’s where the Nespresso Essenza C100 comes in, offering the essential tools for an efficient, easy, and fresh espresso before you conquer the day. Because the Essenza C100 uses only Nespresso espresso capsules, you never have to grind, measure, or tamp coffee beans. Just choose a capsule, place it in the machine, choose your shot size, and the Essenza will brew a single or double shot of piping hot espresso in seconds. You don’t even need to remove the spent capsule; just pull the lever on the top of the machine and it’s automatically dropped into the built-in dump box. At the end of the day, the removable drip tray, dump box, and water reservoir make cleaning a snap.
The Essenza C100 uses only Nespresso capsules to brew espresso. These convenient, mess-free capsules come in an array of blends, as well as 2 different sizes: short for a single shot of espresso, and lungo for a double. Nespresso also offers an ever-changing selection of limited edition blends, so you’ll always have a wide variety to choose from. Please note that the Nespresso Essenza C100 is not compatible with ESE pods or Lavazza Espresso Point capsules.
For simple operation, the Essenza C100 comes with 2 programmable brewing buttons. They are pre-set to use the ideal amount of water for a short (single shot) and lungo (double shot) espresso, however you can change the amount of water used to match your taste. To do so, put a capsule in the machine, place a cup underneath the spout, press, and hold the button you wish to program until the desired shot size is reached. This amount will be automatically saved on the machine, so every time you press that button, that amount will be dispensed.
There are just three buttons on the Nespresso Essenza C100. A rocker switch on the back turns the machine on and off, while green back-lit buttons on either side of the dispensing spout control brewing. The one with the smaller espresso cup is for a single shot, while the one with the larger cup is programmed for a double shot. Press either one once and they will automatically dispense the pre-programmed amount, and then automatically stop.
Although the Nespresso Essenza C100 does not have an independent water spout, the brewing buttons can dispense hot water if a capsule is not present in the brewing chamber. To dispense a larger amount, you can hold down one of the brewing buttons until the desired amount is reached, however this will undo the programming.
The Essenza C100 does not have a steam wand, so we recommend purchasing an external milk frothing device for making cappuccinos and lattes. To view our selection of milk frothers, click here.
The C100 features a large, 34 oz water reservoir made of clear plastic. With the ability to hold enough water for 17 single shots of espresso, there’s plenty of time between refills. Plus, the reservoir is removable, making filling and cleaning simple.
Cleaning the Nespresso Essenza C100 takes just a few moments a day. The removable capsule drawer can hold up to 14 spent Nespresso capsules, and can be easily removed. The drip tray can also be removed. Both of these components should be emptied on a daily basis and cleaned with warm water and a non-abrasive solvent.
The Nespresso Essenza C100 is housed in ABS plastic that can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. The 34 oz water reservoir is made of clear ABS plastic.
All Nespresso espresso machines are intended to be used exclusively with Nespresso capsules. Ground espresso and other brands of pods or capsules cannot be used to make espresso with these machines. The Nespresso Essenza C100 comes with 12 Nespresso capsules in a gift box. You can purchase more through Nespresso; we do not sell Nespresso capsules. To order your Nespresso capsules, call 888-NESPRESSO (888-637-7737) and choose from their wide variety. Capsule orders can be placed 24hrs/day 7 days a week.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.
I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

A few years ago I bought a Gaggia Classic and have been very happy with it. It still works great. But I was mainly using it on the weekends because from grinding the beans to cleaning out the grinds it would take 20 min to make a capuccino. I wasn't using it before work and was still hitting the local starbucks on the way to work or on break. This Nespresso machine has changed all that. There's no fuss and no clean up, other than lifting a lever to release the capsule into the lower chamber and pushing a button to run a clean water shot after making an espresso. The stuff that comes out is consistent. It tastes great. There's good crema. I love this machine. I still use my Gaggia for steaming milk. The coffee tastes more "Swiss" than "Italian." I'm not sure how else to describe the flavor. You have to mail order the capsules from Nespresso, but there's a wide variety to choose from. They arrive in two days. They are about 50 cents a capsule. The capsules are individually sealed so they stay fresh for months. This was another problem with my semi-automatic Gaggia: I would buy a half pound of coffee and it would go bad or dry out before I used it all up, which then effects flavor, how hard I tamp, etc... Now I buy capsules in a 4-6 month supply at a time and the last capsule used comes out looking and tasting as good as the first. I love this machine. It's also very compact so if you don't have much counter space, this is a good option.

ease of use. consistent quality of espresso
skip the lungo setting and capsules. get a different model if you want a steamer wand. this particular model does not come with one. i have not bought the aerocino, so i can't comment on that.

nespresso capsules
lungo tastes overextracted (even when using the capsules designed for this setting. maybe that's what they're supposed to taste like?) Also, the packets that i puchased for cleaning and maintenance of this machine can also be used for other nespresso machines. the instructions are not entirely clear for this particular model.

mjackson ♦ Miguel,
I am not sure of stores where you can try product. If you want to come to Rochester NY I will gladly brew you a cup. You may also just want to read all the glowing reviews about the product. It is a very good system.
I had an espresso from this machine earlier today at a local kitchen store. It was unbelievably great and so easy to make. I currently use a Gaggia Classic, but would considering switching. I can make a cafe americano with hot water from the Gaggia. Is it a safe assumption that I can do the same with this machine by just adding hot water from another source (i.e. microwave)????
They said the frother is on sale as well, both for $250. Do you have the same price?
Thanks...

mjackson ♦ Yes you could do that and as far as taste and convenience go I really do like the Nespresso products. We do have a sale going on and here is the link. http://www.wholelattelove.com/Nespresso/essenza_c100.aeroccino.cfm
The auto frother is liked by many people that use it. I would consider getting it if you liked the product.
Zack Smith Valerie, To clean your machine you can use the Urnex Cleancaf. This will descale your machine and keep it in proper working condition. You should descale every couple months.
I´d like to buy this nespresso essenza but it MUST be in 220v. How can I know which one it is being selled? How where should I put this selection?

Tho Nguyen Hey glad to meet fellow latte lover! Are you looking for a single serve, super automatic or semi-automatic? I'm a big fan of the new Nespresso CitiZ with the Aeroccino...it makes hot and cold frothed milk! YUM! And, I think they're giving out a $50 voucher for that model. I'm not sure about the Essenza C100, though. Maybe someone else will be able to fill you in on it.
TechMilanoItalia Tho is right, you can get $50 back if you purchase the C100 and Aeroccino bundle for $299. It is a great little set-up for quick and easy lattes with minimal clean-up! We love the C100 here, one of out Tech Support Reps even has one at her desk. =)
