Ask the ExpertsWhen it comes to simplifying espresso, Nespresso’s Essenza line offers truly straightforward brewing. The Essenza D90 lets you create delicious single or double espresso shots with just 2 buttons: a power switch and a brewing button. Grinding, measuring, or tamping your own coffee grounds is no longer needed. The D90 uses only convenient Nespresso espresso capsules. These pre-measured single-serve espresso capsules come in a variety of blends and are available in short (single shot) and lungo (double shot) sizes.
The Nespresso Essenza D90 is also easy to maintain. The used capsule drawer that can hold up to 14 spent capsules, drip tray, and large water reservoir can all be easily removed and cleaned at the end of the day.

Simple Capsules
Nespresso capsules are made of some of the finest espresso blends from around the world. Available in 12 varieties, as well as Limited Edition blends that change every year, you’ll always have a taste to explore. To use a capsule, just lift the gray lever on the top of the machine, place the capsule in the brewing chamber, close the lever, and place a cup under the dispensing spout. Then, press the green-lit brewing button once to start brewing, and then press it again when your desired liquid volume is reached. We recommend brewing into a warm, measured glass for the best results.
Easy-to-Use Controls
The Nespresso Essenza D90 has only 2 buttons. To the left of the dispensing spout is the red-lit On/Off button, and to the right of the dispensing spout is the green brewing button. The brewing button will flash while the machine is heating up, so you’ll always know when the machine is ready.

Hot Water
The Nespresso Essenza D90 does not have an independent hot water spout, but the brewing button can dispense hot water if a capsule is not present in the brewing chamber. To dispense a larger amount, you can hold down the brewing button until the desired amount of hot water is reached.
Steam Wand
The Essenza D90 does not have a steam wand, so we recommend purchasing an external milk frothing device for making cappuccinos and lattes. To view our selection of milk frothers, click here.

Water Reservoir
The removable water reservoir on the Nespresso Essenza D90 can hold up to 34 oz of water, enough for 17 espresso shots. It is made of clear, durable plastic so you can quickly monitor your water levels and refill when necessary.
Removable Capsule Drawer and Drip Tray
Keeping the Essenza D90 in top shape takes just minutes a day. Both the drip tray and capsule drawer can be easily removed from the front of the machine, dumped out, and washed by hand with warm water and non-abrasive solvent.
Housing Construction
The Nespresso Essenza D90 is housed in ABS plastic that can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. The 34 oz water reservoir is made of clear ABS plastic.
Nespresso Capsules
All Nespresso espresso machines are intended to be used exclusively with Nespresso capsules. Ground espresso and other brands of pods or capsules cannot be used to make espresso with these machines. The Nespresso Essenza D90 comes with 12 Nespresso capsules in a gift box. You can purchase more through Nespresso; we do not sell Nespresso capsules.
