Features

This product carries a 2-year warranty

The Pasquini Moka coffee/espresso grinder is as good as it looks; the perfect compliment to any espresso machine! The Moka is a dosing grinder that is similar in design to the ones found in commercial espresso shops. However it is short enough to fit under a standard height kitchen cabinet. It can grind as fine or as coarse as you would ever want. Please note that most grinders are tested at the manufacturer and coffee grounds may be found in the grinder as a result. All machines sold are new unless otherwise clearly stated. Available in Chrome.

Features & Benefits: Coffee

Heavy Duty Construction

The frame and body are all of one-piece heavy cast aluminum. This ensures long lasting durability for the finish and cuts down on what little noise the motor does make.

Multiple grind Settings

With the Moka you adjust the grinder as much as you want. Just push the release lever located on the left side and turn the bean hopper to change the adjustments. There are no devices to stop you from going as fine or as coarse as you want.

Heavy Duty Motor

The Motor on the Moka will have no problem with light commercial or any high-end home use. The motor is a 120 watt direct drive motor that is very quiet and more than powerful enough to grind through you beans without slowing down. It has an overload switch that will turn off the motor to prevent possible damage if something gets caught in the burrs.

Top Quality Grinding Burrs

The Pasquini Moka doesn't cut you short on the burrs. High grade 50mm stainless steel flat burrs keep the grinds coming...fast and consistent.

Easy to use Controls

To turn the grinder on and off you just have to flip the switch that is located on the lower left front corner.

Large Capacity Hoppers

Store up to 10 ounces of coffee beans in the bean hopper and 10 ounces of ground coffee in the ground coffee container. The bean hopper can be easily removed (when empty) for cleaning.

Dosing Grinder w/Tamper

The Moka is designed to dispense the ground coffee directly into any brand of espresso machine portafilter. With the Moka you adjust the doser to dispense anywhere from 6 to 9 grams of coffee with each pull of the dispensing handle. The quality of the mechanism in the dosing section and the steel handle will make you feel good every time you use it. A built in tamper is on the front of the grinder can be utilized or easily removed.

Easy Access for Cleaning

To access the burrs for cleaning you don’t need any tools and only takes a minute. Just pull straight up on the bean hopper to remove it, push on the adjustment release lever, for and turn the brass disc on top counter clockwise until the it comes off. You can then see the grinding burrs for cleaning and or inspection.

Loving this grinder

I've been making espresso for over 20 years and have been through 5-6 home burr grinders, so I decided it was definitely time to upgrade. I researched, read reviews, and talked to the guy who has serviced my LaPavoni Professional and decided on the Pasquini Moka. One of my criteria was that it had to fit under my cabinets (16-inch clearance) and this one does. When I took it out of the box, there were no instructions. I called tech support and they told me there are no instructions for this machine. Really??!! For a $600+ grinder, wouldn't you think those Italians could at least include instructions? But I once I started playing with it, it is pretty straight forward. I'm a little embarrassed to admit, but I did have problems at first figuring out how to change the setting. The wholelattelove instructions on the website say to push the release lever and turn the hopper. I pushed, pushed, pushed and the darn thing wouldn't turn. I finally figured out that you have to push the tab where it meets the hopper rather than where it is actually sticking out from the machine, and then you can turn it. The one issue for me, is that the LaPavoni portafilter is on the small side, so dosing can be a little messy and the tamper is too large for this smaller portafilter. It looks amazing, is relatively quiet and the grind is perfect (with some experimentation). My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner.

Solid, steady and reliable - what else do you need?

It's easy: just put lots of beans in the top, run the thing until the grounds bin is half-full, stop it and dose out some grounds. Once you get the grind setting right (I like about 10 or so, play around with it but skip the 20 and the 5 settings for espresso). And by the way, please take the time to correct anyone you know who says "expresso", it's not being snobbish, it's just up to each of us to define and guide the English language along it's tortuous and continually evolving path. I took the "tamper" gizmo off right away as it just gets in the way of aligning the brew basket under the spout. I kept the forked basket rest as it helps to line up the basket so you don't dump half the grounds all over the counter (yes, I did this ... OK, I did it a few times ... OK a LOT of times!). I like the doser feature, just make sure you fill the grounds bin enough. Open the top of the grounds bin while it's grinding and use the handle of the scoop or a spoon to distribute the grounds around the bin so all the little wedges get filled. If you want to switch the type of beans while the bean hopper still has beans in it, just take one of those useless subscription cards from a magazine and slide it in under the bottom of the hopper as you slowly raise the hopper off the grinder. Don't do this with the grinder running! If you do this carefully, you leave a few beans in the top of the grinder. Then you can dump the old beans into a jar, put the hopper back on the grinder and fill it with your new favorite choice of beans. Now put a small cup under the spout and "dose" out the remainder of the old grounds and save that in a jar. Now you're ready to run your new type of beans through. The speed of this grinder is slow and easy so you won't burn the grounds and you won't generate a lot of static electricity which we all know is the bane of the grinding process. If you're not handy with a tape measure, just be aware: this thing is as tall as the Expobar Office Control machine and that's no shorty! Also leave plenty of room to put your espresso machine and grinder on a counter next to each other, say at least 2ft. Also locate them near a sink as you are going to spend more than a few trips back and forth, what with dumping the sludge dish under the grate, rinsing out the shot glass and the brew basket, hosing off the shower screen and wiping up after yourself. Cheers and enjoy.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

1 - 6 months

What's Best About this Product?

The slow grind and the hefty, no-nonsense size and scale of it.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Don't give up if it won't grind sometimes when you switch it on. Just let it rest and try again, or bang it around a bit and then apologize to it and try again. This has only happened once to me and if it happens again, I'll send it back like lightning.

My Experience With Using This Product:

Coffee Lover

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Peet's, Durango Coffee Company, Jitters Java, Los Gatos Roasting Co., New Mexican Pinon

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

Design a bean hopper with a slide gate at the bottom that closes off the outlet so I can buy two of them and put caf in one and decaf in the other. Also, just 86 that tamper headpiece, PLEASE! This survey asks how I like the instructions ... HAH! There are absolutely NO INSTRUCTIONS with it. But then ... I never read the instructions anyway so who cares?

Some of the Other Machines I've Used:

Braun blade grinder.

I'm confused by your calibration instructions. Perhaps I need to do a better job of cleaning my threads, but I don't ever hear any kind of "tell-tale chirp". Should this be obvious? Once I do hear the chirp, how do I set the adjustment collar so that absolute zero and the zero mark are equal?

mjackson ♦ Chris, The chirping sound are the burrs touching and yes it should be somewhat obvious. You can then adjust your grinder using that as a starting point. There is not a way to make the zero become the zero I am sorry .

Does the grind get finer with lower numbers? And coarser with higher numbers on the adjustment collar? or simply: which way do I turn the numbers to get finer coffee?

mjackson ♦ Tim you turn towards the smaller numbers to get a finer grind. You should be turning to the left. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Michael Rosso ♦ Kevin...Here is the information you requested for your Pasquini Moka grinder.

PASQUINI MOKA AND K2 CLEANING AND CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. ALWAYS UNPLUG THE MACHINE
2. REMOVE THE BEANS AND BEAN HOPPER. THE HOPPER HAS NO SCREWS, IT SIMPLY PULLS STRAIGHT UP AND OUT OF THE MACHINE.
3. LOCATE END REMOVE THE ADJUSTMENT COLLAR. THE ADJUSTMENT COLLAR IS THE
LARGE, ROUND CHROME COLLAR THAT NUMERICAL SETTINGS ON IT. THE COLLAR
IS REMOVED BY ROTATING IT COUNTERCLOCKWISE UNTILL IT CAN BE LIFTED UP OUT OF THE ASSEMBLY. THE UPPER BURR PLATE OF THE GRINDER IS SCREWED INTO THE
BOTTOM SIDE OF THE ADJUSTMENT COLLAR.
4. MAKE SURE TO LOCATE AND REMOVE THE BLACK PLASTIC THUMBTAB ON THE TOP, LEFT SIDE OF THE GRIND CHAMBER. THERE IS A SMALL TENSION SPRING UNDER THE
TAB, THESE PARTS ARE OFTEN MISPLACED DURING MAINTENANCE
5. Thoroughly clean the grinding chamber. This includes all of the threads,
both on the top burr plate and the matching threads on the wall of the
grinding chamber. Clean the burrs as well. A group brush does a good
job cleaning the parts and threads in the grinding chamber. Be sure to
clear the chute between the grinding chamber and the ground coffee
dispenser as well.
6. CALIBRATION
Replace the chrome upper burr plate by turning it clockwise until snug
Making sure that the machine is off, plug the machine in.
7. Finding “absolute zero.” Proper calibration of the Moka grinder depends
on finding absolute zero. This is the point at which the burrs first touch
together while spinning. It is also the point at which the Moka is grinding
the coffee as finely as possible. (similar in texture to powdered sugar)
The sound of the burrs touching while spinning is unmistakable. It’s
a high pitched metallic “chirp” plainly audible over the sound of the
motor..
8. Turn the machine on. If the “chirp” of the burr plates is not heard,
rotate the chrome top burr plate either clockwise or counter-clockwise until
absolute zero is located by the telltale “chirp.”
9. Turn off and then unplug the machine.
10. Replace the bean hopper.
11. Plug in and test machine.
Any further questions please feel free to contact out Technical Support Department directly at 1-888-411-5282 option 3. Thanks

TechMilanoItalia The 'prosumer' link is just for categorization on the website, there is no different version. This is a good grinder for home, but the Mazzer Mini or the forthcoming Ceado grinders are amongst our favorites. =)

After a couple of years I'm returning to home espresso/latte making (it's a question of milk intolerance, solved for at least the moment by using raw milk). Anyhow, my Pasquini Livia is back in service and I'm ready to try grinding my own beans again. I got out the Pasquini Moka grinder I used to use and it seems to be missing a part--a spring that pushes up on the pin that holds the grind wheel setting, on the left side of the machine. Do you know what I'm talking about? To set the grind you should be able to push down on the pin, against the missing spring, and turn the wheel. My pin just flops down and doesn't make contact with the grind setting wheel. I'm assuming that's why the machine won't turn on (which it won't)--that there's some sort of internal override with no pressure on the setting wheel. How do I order a replacement spring? Is there any other piece missing that you know of from this description? Thanks,

Ellen Draper

TechMilanoItalia Ellen, unfortunately we do not stock that part for the Moka. You would want to contact Pasquini directly at 213.739.0480. The number I see on our diagram of the machine is #120 for that spring. I do not see any safety switch inside the machine, but you may want to inquire with Pasquini when you call to order the spring. =)

ToddS Twila, Whole Latte Love has a complete service department and will be happy to work on your machine. The Moka is a very heavy duty grinder and they very rarely have to come in for service. If you don't mind me asking, what is wrong with it?
We may be able to assist without bringing it in.
