Convenient Dosing Lever

The MD40 espresso grinder doses out 7 grams per click on the brass dosing lever right out of the box, but you can adjust the dose from 5 to 9 grams per pull. The dosing receptacle will fit almost all portafilters with ease, even many of the pressurized variety. There is also a built-in cycle counter that keeps track of the number of pulls, perfect if you’re using the MD40 in a commercial setting.

The Rancilio MD40 has 50 mm, commercial-grade grinding burrs made of tempered, hardened steel. These heavy-duty, flat plate burrs are precisely cut to ensure maximum accuracy and longevity and if they need to be cleaned, they are easily removable

Heavy Duty Motor

The powerful 140-watt motor packs enough punch for commercial use, however, its quiet operation is optimal for early-morning espresso drinkers. The motor is also equipped with a thermal protection device that shuts it down, should it begin to overheat from a jam or excessive use. This prevents damage to both the motor and the rest of the grinder.

Smart Design Bean Hopper

The 1-pound capacity bean hopper is tinted to reduce the UV damage to your beans. This stylish, smoke-colored hopper also features a trap door on the bottom that can be closed, so you can remove the hopper while it is full of beans without spilling.

Built In Tamper

The built in tamper on the front of the ground hopper makes tamping fast and efficient. The MD40 comes with a built in 56 mm tamper made of heavy duty plastic, but if desired, it can be removed and replaced with a 53 mm tamper.
