Charlie Kang Does this wand come with the rubber holder thingy around the curve? I want to retrofit this into the Gaggia Classic I purchased. -- might have to ignore this :) Thanks Charlie

Mark Jackson Charlie, It will come with the rubber thing. If you are going to fit this on your Classic you will want to research it and make sure you have everything you need and it does require some work to do it right. There is information out there to help you and you can find a step by step guide by other people that have done this and documented it to make it easier for the rest of us.

Aron Ellefson I took apart my Gaggia Cubika Plus, and the steam wand and attachment looks very similar to the Gaggia Classic which can be upgraded with the Silvia Steam pipe. The one thing that is different is that the wand attaches inside the machine so it needs more clearance. I measured and it needs 2 1/4 inches from the kink to the top of the pipe. Is this part that long? Also I noticed the Silvia V3 steam pipe is longer at this point and would almost certainly have the clearance if this doesn't. Can you get a hold of them without the valve as I wouldn't need that part? Thanks for your help.

Aron Ellefson Thank you very much for your research. It seems those post were most likely referring to the original Cubika. I don't have one handy to compare. Hopefully the internal clearances are the same. It is encouraging news. I think I'll give it a shot.

Mark Jackson Ken, You can try descaling but it may not fix the problem.It may be your steam valve starting to go. Here is how to descale. Run most of the descaler through the steam wand instead of the group head. If it does not work order a steam valve. The quality of water you use in your machine and your maintenance program will directly affect how long you espresso machine will last. Non-softened water or any other water that contains minerals can damage your equipment over time. The minerals can build up inside the boiler and valves causing diminished performance and equipment failure. We recommend that you use a citric acid decalcifier or better yet a cleaner/decalcifier by the name of “Cleancaf”. Cleancaf is one of the many cleaning products manufactured by “Urnex” The cleaner/decalcifiers not only remove the minerals that build up in the boiler they remove coffee deposits that build up inside the brew group. It is a good idea to run the decalcifier through the machine every two or three months to remove any minerals before they have a chance to build up. The following are basic instruction on using the Cleancaf brand product. Always check the manufacturers instructions as they may vary between brands. First make sure the boiler is primed by running a few ounces of water through the brew group and steam wand. Then let the machine heat up for at least five minutes. Dissolve one package of decalcifier into four cups of hot water, not boiling water and pour it into the reservoir. Turn the pump on and run 6 ounces of water through the steam wand and 6 ounces through the brew group. Let the machine sit for five minutes while still on and the boiler hot to give the cleaning solution a chance to work. Turn on the pump and run the remaining solution in the boiler through the brew group. Remove the reservoir, clean it

Karen Doherty My steam wand seems to leak from the bottom...I always keep a cup under it and there's often about a half-inch of water in there the next morning. My Silvia is an older model, and steam wand has never been replaced. Is there a good reason to replace it at this point? Thanks!

joe mullan My steam pipe leaks as it enters housing. DO I need a replacement steam pipe, or just o-rings, etc.? Bought in 2007. If replacement, does it unscrew simply or do I need to remove top and disengage valve,etc.? Does steam pipe come with everything needed, or do I need to get o-rings, etc? Michael Rosso Joe, it sounds like you will need new O rings not a whole new wand. If you were to purchase the wand it would not come with the new O rings. Give our tech department a call and they can get the right O rings out to you. 888-411-528 option 3. Happy brewing.

joe mullan My Silvia steam pipe is leaking at the top as it enters housing-- bought in 2007. Do I need a replacement steam pipe or just some o-rings, etc.? If a replacement, does it simply unscrew or do I need to enter from top and disengage the valve, etc? Thanks, Joe

Just a note of caution; we purchased our Rancilio Silvia in May 2006 and just installed the third steam wand (one per year). The caution is to be sure you do not tighten the tip more than hand tight or the wand will develop a split above the nozzle from which steam will escape. Not only does this cause a danger and a mess, it decreases the pressure coming out the end of the nozzle. Once you master the technique of relatively high pressure at the very surface of the milk you will create great, tightly packed foam from this wand and all will be good with the world again!

i have used this to replace the panarello wand on my gaggia coffee, and think it works wonders I could never get a textured foam with the panarello, now i can
