I have now been using the Silvia and Rocky for 3 months and I could not be more pleased. I've been enjoying espresso at our local coffee shop. Well, I brought the same beans home from the coffee shop, grinded them in the Rocky, and served it up through the Silvia...you could not tell any difference! The taste, texture, and crema were excellent. My husband is rather picky about his espresso and he could not tell the different either. Of course, I put a PID on my Silvia - which made a world of difference in consistency. I bought my Silvia here at Whole Latte Love. I'm well pleased with the performance, the value, and the customer service. Thank you.

I have owned miss silvia for nearly 5 years. I drink espresso every day. When our kids are home from college, this machine gets a lot of daily use, and is a real workhorse. Nothing fancy, just great espresso. As with any espresso or coffee machine, it needs to be cleaned every month. I have tried nearly every espresso WLL sells, and I have found the Illy dark roast works best with this machine. I also broke down and bought a Rocky several years ago. It grind flawlessly - fine espresso grind, medium drip grind, and coarse coffee grind for a French Press, you name it. The two machines work great together. I hope and expect both to last for many more years. I would buy both of these machines again.

I bought this more than 5 years ago. While I haven't always used it everyday, it has been great. My only regret is i wanted more automatic but my husband liked the look of this. It is simple, clean, and looks great.

After 20 and some years the boiler of my Professional model Pavoni went bad and it was costly to replaced, I decided to buy the Mss. Rancillio Sylvia and her side kick Rocky, I have been using them for about 3 years and let me tell you I use them everyday of the year and yet haven't seen any sign of fatigued in either one of them they perform as beautiful as they look.

I moved up from a Solis Maestro grinder and Gaggia Carezza machine, and this was a huge leap forward. The really nice feature of this set is that the 2-drawer base is basically free. It is extremely well made, and accommodates all my espresso stuff. Also, the base raises the whole affair about 2 inches, which leaves plenty of room for a large steam pitcher. The look is very professional, and make quite a statement in my kitchen. If you need both a new machine and grinder, get this kit!

I've had my Rocky, Silvia, and double-drawer base Combo Bar for three years. It's virtually flawless. Having said that, it is not an automatic, consistent-every-time computerized machine. Like all higher-quality products, this one takes some experimenting and tweaking. Because of different moisture levels and oil content, I have to slightly change the fineness of the grind with every new bag of coffee beans. And you HAVE to pull a blank shot before the real thing. Otherwise, the steam build-up blows through the coffee in a few seconds, not 20-25. The crema is so perfect, I've taken pictures of it. And the stainless steel makes me feel like I'm working with a heavy-duty professional machine. I've never had one regret about spending this kind of money on this kind of quality.

I've had this setup for almost two years now. I use it every day during the week. Never a problem. Great foam. Consistant shots. The doser doesn't work that great(its non adjustable) but the grind is very consistant. I highly recommend this set up. Money well spent!

mjackson ♦ Beth,
No question get the Rancilio package it is a great package and will last a very long time and you will not regret making the purchase.
Michael Rosso ♦ Beth...Thank you for your interest in the Rancilio Silvia V3 & Rocky and your great question. I am sorry to say we do not sell these machines in dual voltage.Thanks.
What tamper would you recommend to buy with the Silvia?
Also, I'm thinking of buying this for an office. We're a small company (~15) and it probably won't get more than 4 or 5 uses a day. That should be fine, right?
Thanks, I'm a huge fan of you guys.

mjackson ♦ Noah,
It is a very good machine and should work well for that many drinks.I would not leave on for extended periods of time if possible with no use. It will work best with a 58MM tamper. Thanks for the business and your support.
Are these appliances wired for 120Volts? I live abroad and would like one shipped, but we have 220V. Is there any way you can order the 220V (or 240, or whatever) and have it shipped? If not, can you recommend a local dealer in Shanghai, China? Thank you.

Michael Rosso ♦ Matt...Thank you for your interest in the Rancilio Silvia V3 & Rocky Grinder. I am sorry to say we do not sell a 220 volt model, and I would suggest you contact Rancilio directly to locate a dealer in Shanghai, China. Thanks.
On one of the reviews of the Rancilio Silvia, the customer said that she added a "PID" to her Silvia.
Please explain what a PID is and why the need for it and the additional cost.
Thanks,
James

Michael Rosso ♦ James...Thanks for your interest in the Rancilio Silvia. A PID is not really needed to brew great espresso. I do not know what the cost of a PID is. Please keep in mind if you install a PID in the Silvia it will void the warranty. Thanks.
I founded out that my Silvia V2 always needs a finer grind with slightly more than 14g to hit the 20 seconds mark (using finest setting of my Rocky right now), I wonder if this is normal or I have to adjust the OPV or something else?

Michael Rosso ♦ Pochum...I would suggest you try a finer grind and more tamp pressure. Thanks.
Recently when I go to use my Silvia, she trips the GFI. It's done it maybe 4 times. The first two times I hit the button on the wall and she worked. Now it just keeps tripping the GFI. What's happening with this? Can I troubleshoot on my own? I've read other comments on this problem and most say it's the boiler that needs replaced. Do I need to send it in? Or can I do it myself? Enquiring minds want to know. HOW MUCH?
I just want and miss my cup-a-joe in the mornings.
Missing my interaction with Silvia!
Thanks

mjackson ♦ Ada,
It could be your GFI or it could be the machine. Lets try it on a different outlet and see what happens. If it is the machine it could be your boiler or something else. If you call our technical line they may be able to help. If it is your boiler you can change it but it does take some effort and skill. If you give them a call they can get you the parts you need.
rorlando You have to consider duties, taxes, shipping, and warranty issues when shipping out side of the United States. We'd be happy to give you a quote if you give us a call at 1-888-411-5282 option 1. Thank you for inquiring at Whole Latte Love.
Would the Rancilio Silvia V3 & Rocky package be efficient enough for a coffee cart? or would I need to buy the Rancilio epoca?
What other good alternatives do you have of this package?
Thank you.

mjackson ♦ Luisa,
The Silvia while a god machine for home will not work for a cart. The Epoca is much better and will give you the benefit of being able to brew and steam at the same time. It also has a large boiler. If you need to make more then 6 or so drinks in a row or have to make more then about 60-70 drinks a day you may want to look into getting a two group machine. You may want to give me a call as I have a lot of experience with carts and would be able to help you. My name is Mark Jackson and I can be reached at 1-888-411-5282 Ext. 5196

Michael Rosso ♦ Bill...I would suggest you set your grinder at about three quarters of the way to the finest setting, and then adjust from there. Thanks.
