This Rattleware aluminum tamper has perfect Price to quality ratio. I Purchased this Rattleware Tamper when I bought my Gaggia and didn't have much money left over for a more expensive Tamper. This one works very well, surprisingly has a good weight to it for being aluminum, has a fine sateen finish and touch and just feels good in the hand. The longer shaft is personal preference, depending on your style of tamping it may be good or it may not. I grip around the shaft and apply the pressure at the base so it works well with me. I would say the longer shaft helps keep my arm straight improving my technique. It does a great job polishing off your puck, with very little residue being pulled off. ( I do NOT Tap my portafilter to get coffee off the inside walls ) BUT If you TAP the sides of your portafilter, be very careful or think of buying another type of Tamper. This tamper pits very easily one knock on a harder surface and there will be a ding. it also comes with a nice little Nylon baggie to keep it in.

Best thing about this product is the Price, and Look.
If you TAP your portafilter (which I don't recommend) Flip this Tamper over and use the handle, don't even try hitting the upper part of the base, there is no angle on the base so it's really to easy to miss and PIT the corner of the base. then you'll never get a good polish form it again!

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to making Espresso. But this tamper seems to work very well for me. No complaints at all.

This tamper does the job and it buyable a reasonable price. Why anyone would pay $30-50+ for tamper is beyond me. Tamping is tamping.

The RattleWare Aluminum Tamper is a fine piece of equipment....but the 53MM absolutely does not fit the DeLonghi Model EC155 as I had read online. I wish I had returned it to wholelattelove during the 30 day product return period. I found a 52MM tamper from another mfg that fits perfectly. I still give the ill fitting tamper a decent rating as a product, I just had bad information about the size needed for my machine.

Been using this since I got Miss Silvia. Its one solid piece of machined aluminum. I got the 58mm model and it really allows you to press firmly when tamping. Also does pretty well putting a polish on the puck. Not bad at all for the price!

mjackson ♦ You do not really need a tamper. But the correct size from what I can find is 51 mm, but it was hard to find and may not be accurate.
Hi, just wondering what size tamper would work best for a LaPavoni PC-16? Thanks!

mjackson ♦ David, The Classic is a lot of fun to use as it is tried and true classic and also brews a great shot. The size tamper you will need is a 58 mm tamper. This tamper will work with all the Gaggias.
I have a Rancilio S24 and believe I need a 58mm tamper fir the Ranilio porta filter. Can you confirm that for me?

Thanks for thinking of us. You have a great machine. You will need a 58 mm tamper and you are correct. I really like the Rattleware Large handle tamper for the money.
I'm buying a new espresso machine (Miss Silvia). The portafilter is indicated to be 58mm. Do I want a 58mm tamper or would a 57mm be better?

Michael Rosso ♦ Alan...Tamper size is the same size as the portafilter size. So for the Silvia you will need a 58 mm portafilter. Thanks
