Features

Part of the Odea line designed by BMW DesignworksUSA, the Seaco Odea Go II espresso machine features Saeco's latest innovations including a Giro (dial) interface, ceramic disc grinder and drip tray with manual Touch Lift technology. The redesigned steam wand allows for manual frothing and also dispenses hot water for tea. Using the Giro dial to adjust beverage volume from 1 to 8 ounces, it is easier than ever before to customize and brew gourmet coffee drinks at home. Designed with modern form and function, the Seaco Odea Go II makes a statement in both style and flavor.

A key feature is the Saeco Adapting System, (SAS), that detects the type of coffee bean in the hopper and automatically adjusts the grinder speed accordingly, ensuring the best créma and flavor in every cup.

Features and Benefits: Coffee

Automatic Coffee Center

With the Saeco Odea Go II, you have the ability to make almost any drink every espresso-based drink found at your local cafe. Cappuccinos, café lattes, straight espresso shots or even rich Americanos can now be made in the comfort of your home. Brewing is as easy as turning a knob, and steaming is made easy with the Pannarello attachment on the steam wand. Just let the Odea Go II take care of the rest.

Easy Brewing

The last thing you need in the morning is a long, complicated process before you can enjoy your espresso. Luckily, the Saeco Odea II makes brewing easy. Just turn the knob on to select your coffee size, and press the brewing button at the center of the knob once for 1 coffee, and twice for 2. The Saeco Odea Go II will then grind, tamp, brew, and dispense a pre-set amount right into your waiting cup.

Stainless Steel Boiler

The Saeco Odea Go II features a fast-acting stainless steel boiler to help reduce downtime between brewing and steaming. The indicator light by the thermometer icon on the left of the control panel will keep you updated when the machine is warming up, or when it has reached proper temperature for brewing or steaming.

Adjustable Drip Tray

The drip tray on the Saeco Odea Go II has been specially designed to accommodate cups of all different sizes. The drip tray can be manually moved up and down to fit latte glasses or small espresso cups with ease. Plus, the tray is removable, making it easy to clean.

Low-noise Ceramic Burr Grinder

The grind of your coffee beans plays a large part in the quality of your espresso. The Saeco Odea Go II features a ceramic flat burr grinder that will provide a consistent, even grind of your beans. It also has a lower noise level than most super automatic machines on the market today. To adjust the fineness of your grind, you can use the black grinder adjustment key to turn the pin in the bean hopper.

Features and Benefits: Frothing & Hot Water

Steam Wand with Pannarello Attachment

A specially designed steam wand with a Pannarello attachment makes it easy to create cappuccinos, lattes, and other milk based drinks. This attachment helps distribute steam throughout your milk, so you can create luscious frothed or steamed milk. To dispense steam, simply press the steam button on the right side of the control panel and turn the silver knob on the top of the machine to the steam icon. The plastic tip detaches for easy clean-up - just remove and rinse in running water.

Hot Water

If you want to enjoy your favorite tea, instant soup, or an Americano, the Saeco Odea Go II can dispense hot water right through the steam wand. To dispense hot water, simply turn the silver steam knob on the top of the machine to the hot water icon at any time when the machine is as brewing temperature.

Features and Benefits: Care, Maintenance, & Other

Removable Water Reservoir

To make filling and cleaning easy, the Saeco Odea Go II has a removable water reservoir. The indicator lights on the left side of the control panel will let you know when the reservoir is running low, but with a 50oz capacity, you’ll have plenty of time between refills.

Simple Cleaning

The indicator lights on the left side of the control panel will also help keep cleaning simple. They will notify you when the dump box and internal drip tray need to be emptied, or when the water reservoir or bean hopper needs to be filled. The Odea Go II will also notify you when the machine needs to be descaled, a process that helps remove build-up from the internal components. You should descale about once every 2 to 3 months, and detailed directions can be found in the Odea Go II’s instruction manual. Also, make sure to unscrew and clean the Pannarello attachment regularly to clean away any milk build-up.

Removable Dump Box, Drip Tray, and Brew Group

The dump box, drip tray, and brew group on the Saeco Odea Go II can all be removed with ease. Simply open the access door on the right side of the machine to access these components. Regular cleaning helps to keep your machine in top shape and your espresso tasting great.

Accessories

The Saeco Odea Go II comes with everything you’ll need to get the machine up and running: a detailed user’s manual, cleaning brush, and grinder adjustment key.

Mani Obrien I am having a problem with this machine. When I turn off the steamer and try making another cup of coffee, the water won't stop pouring out of the steamer spicket. Usually this lasts only about 10 seconds, and then the coffee will start grinding/pouring again. But not anymore. Am I doing something wrong?
11:54 AM 1-14-12
Mark Jackson Mani, It could be a few things. I would try doing my coffee first and then let it heat up to steam temperature. This may help. You may also want to try and run a descaling cycle with cleaner especially through the steam wand. You can do this by using the hot water feature. If this does not help I would try calling the Saeco technical support line. You can reach them at 1-800-933-7876. I hope this helps and thanks for the question.

Bob Croucher Hi. The Saeco Odea Giro Plus will accomodate a 7.5 inch tall Starbucks insulated to go cup. The Odea Go will not. Do you know if the Go II is a bit taller like the Giro?

Michael Rosso Bob...Thank you for your interest in the Saeco Odea Go II. The space from the coffee spouts to the top of the drip tray measures 5.5". I hope this helps you picking an espresso machine. Larry Eiswald What are the primary differences, if any, between the Saeco Vienna Plus and the Saeco Odea Go II ??
7:07 PM 11-30-10
Michael Rosso Larry...Thank you for your interest in the Saeco Odea Go II. Here are some differences between the two machines. The cup height adjustment for the Odea is done by moving the drip tray up and down. To make a cup height adjustment for the Vienna you need to move the dispensing head up and down. The Odea grinder has ceramic discs with five adjustable settings and the hopper holds 6 ounces of beans. The Vienna grinder has conical burrs with 18 adjustable settings and the hopper holds 12 ounces of beans. The Odea does not have a optidose, while the Vienna does. Optidose allows to adjust how much coffee is used (ground). The Odea water reservoir holds 50 ounces of water and the Vienna water reservoir holds 57 ounces of water. The Odea discard bin holds 14 extracted espresso pucks. Compared to the Vienna discard bin holds 15 extracted espresso pucks. The dimensions for the Odea and Vienna are as follows: (WxDxH) Odea 11.5x15x14.5 (WxDxH) Vienna 15x14x15.5 I hope this information helpful, but if you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at1-888-411-5282 option 1. Happy brewing.

David Battey Does this machine use a "perfect crema" device like other Saecos? Why is that necessary? Do shots with "artifical crema" taste the same as shots with real crema? How long does it take for this machine to heat up from completely cold? I like my espresso strong so that it stands up to milk. If anyone's using this machine for cappuccinos or lattes, please let me know if you're satisfied with the strength.
12:00 PM 7-9-10
Tech Milano David, this is considered a 'super-automatic' machine, so normal rules of espresso brewing tend not to apply. The machine will produce a good shot, and you can adjust the water quantity down low so you can get a shorter shot which will be stronger and more concentrated. The initial heat-up time is quoted at about 3-4 minutes. If you are more concerned with the quality of the espresso and real crema, you may want to consider a semi-automatic espresso machine (found here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/espresso_machine.cfm?cid=1&scid=1 ) paired with a good grinder (found here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/grinder.cfm?scid=34 ). Robin Fair My question isn't about this machine exactly. I was looking for a smaller easy to use expresso machine that I can take with me on vacation. I'm used to the super automatic, but I guess I could use a semi. Please advise and also let me know how long it would take to get to Sacramento California if I order it today.

Ingrid Plemmons Why is there so much water in the internal drip tray? Also, the brewhead is very hard to remove for cleaning.
11:18 PM 12-20-09
Tech Milano It is normal for the internal drip tray to have some water in it after brewing. It will be a greater amount if you are either grinding at a finer setting or using more oily/shiny beans. Just make sure you are always removing the brew unit while the machine is powered on and ready to brew. This will ensure that the unit is in the "neutral position" and can be removed and reinserted normally.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

The 10-year old Gaggia Classic still works perfectly but the fully automatic Odea Go won me over. We usually only brew Americanos and rarely touch the frother (but it works swell).

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

More than 1 year

What's Best About this Product?

Fully automatic brewing of Americanos. Place the cup and press the button simplicity. I was skeptical about all the plastic in the brew group but somehow this thing does its job,,, good hot drinks with lots of crema in my Americano.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

One time the Go froze mid-cycle. I was able to remove the grounds and overflow catchers but unable to reinsert. Saeco support answered the phone and emailed me a do-it-yourself fix. I was back in business a few minutes later. Compared to the Classic, these machines need a little more regular cleaning.

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Santa Fe Roasters (from Sam's Club)

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

Works as advertised. Adjustable dosing is available next model up for about $50 more. I find the dosing to be perfect for me, a particular coffee drinker.

I have had the original Odea Go for 2.5 years and have never had a problem. Other than filling beans and water, emptying dregs and descaling when the light tells me to, It does not take any maintenance. I probably do not give it a good cleaning as often as I should but in spite of that, it still makes great espresso and coffee after 2.5 years. It has paid for itself many times in the decreased Starbucks trips. I bought a second one for the office and it seems just as reliable. It would be nice if the reservoir and hopper were just a little bigger but it is not bad. Very easy to use in the morning when you are half awake and trying to get out the door. I would and have purchased this product and brand again.

ODEA GO is a good idea, but something is fundamentally wrong with the internal workings of this machine. I've had two -- one brand new, and one remanufactured replacement which came from Saeco after I returned the new one. Now the replacement has the same problem as the first: coffee simply does not come out of the machine. It starts off OK. But after just a few uses, the machine begins to sputter and surge. The best I can figure is that its many tiny apetures and thin tubing are getting clogged with sediment or coffee oils. Repeated and robust cleaning sometimes makes it work again -- temporarily. But we've never gotten more than 5 cups out of it before it bogs down again and sputters. Saeco was responsive, but not ultimately able to solve the problem. i shipped the first new machine back to them (at my expense) and received the replacement promptly. I now wonder what to do with the second machine. Very disappointing.

The first attraction was the price. It's hard to find a machine that does all this near its price. So, I was skeptical at first. If you’re a Starbucks addict like my wife and I were, this machine will cure you. You can make much better beverages at home for less money, and spend less time doing it than you would have at Starbucks. This machine will pay for its self.

How Long Have I Been Using This Product?

6 - 12 months

What's Best About this Product?

First and foremost, the Odea Go makes noticeably better espresso, lattes and cappuccino than any previous machine I've owned steam or pump included. It also makes very good regular coffee (café Americana). It’s very easy for my wife and I have perfect lattes and cappuccinos every single day. The machine holds enough whole beans and water for several servings. Making your coffee is a breeze and way easier than external grinders and even my old grind n brew machine. Daily cleanup is not much more than cleaning the frothing wand. Old grinds and rinse water are collected in an internal waste area until a full indicator lights up. The Odea Go makes it easy to get it right every time. It takes better beans and water to finish the equation.

Some Helpful Tips For Using this Product:

Filter your water and take time to choose the beans you like the best. Expensive is not always better. Sometimes, even the most expensive imported beans, are the worst. fat free milk froths better than whole and 2%. It all tastes greeat when it's frothed anyways.

My Experience With Using This Product:

Connoisseur

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Varies, but my fovorite is Italian Roast from Cost Plus World Market.

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

Well, it’s not without its flaws. The biggest gripe I have is that the drip tray that’s built into the adjustable cup shelf is painted plastic. I noticed that the paint was coming off within a month of buying it. It’s not all that bad, but I know it’s there. Every couple days to a week, you have to dump grinds and waste water per the indicator light. Additional routine cleanup is less frequent and involves decalcification and internal cleaning and lube. A light indicates when it’s time to decalcify. Decalcification is required to ensure consistent results. You can bypass the indicator lamp, but it’s not a good idea. The process with this machine is easy, but requires your attention for about 30 minutes. Internal cleaning involves removing the moving parts, cleaning and lubing them per the manual. The parts come out in a single unit and can be rinsed and sprayed in the sink. You can find old grinds here and there as well. This doesn’t take too long and it’s not hard.

Some of the Other Machines I've Used:

I bought this machine after my old grind n brew coffee maker finally gave up. I was tired of having both an espresso and coffee maker.

This is a bestbuy in the world of great results and moderate investment. You get a great crema. It's at its best using the setting at about 1.5-2 ounces. The full cup settings are good only if you are looking for a regular cup of JO. It is 100% plastic, but doesn't look cheap at all.

Set it and forget it-perfect shots every time. Heats up in no time, froths milk in 1 minute....

The Coffee I've Tried With This Product:

Some Improvements I Would Recommend for This Product:

All automatic require a little patience. The hopper has to have coffee, the water has to be adequate, the excess/hopper as to have room, or it doesn't give you the green light. Forget about the froth helper-its no real help

This machine is probably the easiest super automatic I have ever had the pleasure of working with. From unboxing to enjoying the first latte was less than 10 minutes, and that included the time to clean everything. The grinder is whisper quiet, and the dump-box cleaning is pretty straightforward. What is the difference between the Odea Go and Odea Giro? click to open/closeopen and close answer
  • The main difference between the Saeco Odea Go and the Odea Giro is the Giro features a fast-heating stainless steel brew boiler as well as a Rapid Steam boiler to streamline your coffee routine. The Rapid Steam system eliminates wait time between brewing and steaming, so you can quickly make espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and anything in-between. The Giro’s powerful heating system means you can make a variety of drinks for you and your guests. Instead of a Rapid Steam system, the Odea Go has a single boiler that may take between a minute to a minute and half to heat up to steam temperature after brewing a shot.

how do I get stronger shots? click to open/closeopen and close answer
  • In order to get the maximum strength/flavor from your machine, follow these steps:

    1. Depending on your machine, increase the fineness of your grind by changing your grind setting to a low number or small dot.
    2. Reduce the water volume to 1 oz.
    3. If you want to brew more than 1 oz, press the brew button twice and the machine will go through 2 brew cycles automatically.

How can I get a hotter cup of coffee? click to open/closeopen and close answer
  • You can increase the temperature of your drink anywhere from 10-20 degrees by ensuring that all of your brewing components are preheated properly. These steps should be performed before you brew your first cup, or anytime that the machine has cooled between making coffee:

    1. Purge water through your steam wand and into your cup. This accomplishes two things- It helps to preheat the internal components and it heats the cup as well.
    2. If your machine has a bypass doser, run a shot from the bypass doser with no coffee grounds added. Again, this helps with preheating the internal components. Some machines even have a hot rinse cycle that runs on startup to preheat the brewing components automatically.

How do I change the grind setting? click to open/closeopen and close answer
  • The grind settings on this machine can be adjusted by using the "adjustment pin" located inside the coffee bean hopper. The pin is accessible when the bean hopper is empty or almost empty. To adjust the grind setting, use the included "grinder adjustment key" to press down into the pin. Turn the key one notch at a time to change the grind setting to fine, medium or coarse. You will need to brew 2-3 cups of coffee before the new grind setting can take effect.

How do I empty the drip tray? click to open/closeopen and close answer
  • This machine actually has two separate drip trays. You have probably already emptied the drip tray that is built into the motorized cup tray on the front of the machine. There is also an internal drip tray located beneath the brew group, and that is the drip tray that the message refers to. To access it, open the service door on the right side of the machine. You will see the drip tray next to the dump box, directly underneath the brew group. Remove and empty the drip tray. Replace it and the message will go away.

  • Your machine is designed to count how many shots you’re brewing and then tell you to empty the dump box when it reaches the maximum shot count. The machine does not weigh the dump box or use any sensors to verify if it is in fact full, so if you empty the dump box before it asks you to, it will continue counting.

For example, if it reads "empty dump box" when there is only one puck in there, then you simply need to reset the machine so it can begin counting your shots properly. To do this, just remove the dump box while the machine is on and giving you the "empty dump box" message. Then, leave it out for about 30 seconds so that the machine knows to reset the count to 0. Finally, replace the dump box and the message should go away.

If this does not solve the problem, contact us and we will help you test the micro switch to make sure it is working properly.
