The Saeco Via Venezia Stainless Steel is a durable, high performance, traditional pump espresso machine with an art-deco styling. It can brew one cup of espresso or two cups simultaneously and comes equipped with a moveable steam/hot water arm.
It features a patented pressurized brew filter that makes great espresso without requiring the skills of an expert. The Via Venezia's heavy-duty pressurized portafilter does away with that concern by pressurizing the brewing chamber to improve extraction from the ground beans, promoting the perfect brewing conditions. The result is an excellent tasting espresso topped with great crema. A non-pressurized portafilter is also available for those that are into tamping their own grinds.
It has a large, transparent water tank that can be filled through an opening in the cup warming surface, or by removing and filling at the faucet. The drip tray is also easily removed when the tray needs to be emptied or cleaned.
Easy to use controls, a sturdy stainless steel boiler, and Saeco’s signature Pannarello frothing wand make the Via Venezia an attractive, user-friendly way to get café quality espresso drinks right in your kitchen, time after time.
Simple Brewing: Just turn your machine on and wait for the brew button light to illuminate. Saeco recommends preheating your portafilter before brewing by pulling a “blank shot,” or letting hot water run through the empty portafilter. Fill the portafilter with finely ground espresso, tamp lightly and secure in place on the machine. Press the brew button to initiate brewing and then press again to stop.
The Via Venezia’s control panel features only three buttons – an on/off button, a brew button and a steam button. The brew and steam buttons are on the left, and both have “ready” indictor lights. Simply turn on your machine on – the on/off button is on the right – and wait for the brew ready light. If you would like hot, frothy milk for cappuccinos or lattes, or even just hot water for tea, press the steam button, which has a steam cloud icon. Making perfect espresso drinks has never been easier!
The Via Venezia keeps hot water coming with a large stainless steel, 950-watt quick recovery stainless steel boiler. A thermal fuse provides burnout protection and will shut down the heating element should the machine run dry during operation. A simple decalcification process is recommended ever every two to three months to further protect the life span of the boiler and other internal brewing components.
The Via Venezia boasts a powerful vibratory pump rated at 15 BAR of pressure, the same pump found on top of the line Saeco espresso machines to pull maximum flavor from the coffee beans.
A great tasting espresso and rich crema depend largely on the pressure in the brewing chamber. With commercial portafilters, the user is responsible for creating a precise brewing pressure, using the grind setting, tamp and water pressure. With Saeco’s patented pressurized portafilter, the guesswork is all done for you. When brewing, the filter holder is sealed thanks to a spring-loaded valve, and remains sealed until the pressure in the brewing chamber has reached its ideal point. This takes only a moment before the valve opens and your Via Venezia releases a perfect cup of espresso.
Espresso pods are a popular way to make quick, consistent espresso drinks. These pods are single servings of pre-ground and tamped espresso, cutting down on any mess or the need to buy a grinder. The Via Venezia comes with a pod adaptor for your portafilter, and a specially created filter basket that works especially for pod use.
Cup temperature is very important when making espresso, because it prevents the espresso from losing heat too rapidly. The Via Venezia features a cup holder that safely keeps up to 6 espresso cups warm using residual heat from the stainless steel boiler.
Easy reading control lights show when the machine is “ready to brew” and “ready to steam”.
The steam wand makes beautiful foam by slipping on the included Panarello frothing tip. It is mounted on a swivel joint, and conveniently swings aside which enables easy clean up. The wand also dispenses hot water for tea.
Ready for tea, hot chocolate, or even an Americano? The Via Venezia dispenses hot water whenever you need it. Just hit the brew button, wait for the brew ready light and open the steam knob. Hot water will stream out of the frothing wand – just turn the knob counter clockwise to close it.
To keep your steam wand free of coffee residue, Saeco recommends taking apart the wand apart once a week and cleaning it with fresh water, then reassembling it. Remember to empty and clean the drip tray daily, and the machine housing can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Your portafilter should be removed and cleaned with hot water to keep it free of coffee grounds. You can use the included scraper to remove coffee residue from the brew group gasket.
The 68 oz. water reservoir is perfect for home and entertaining. You can brew a number of espressos and then refill the reservoir right where it's at, even if it is still brewing. Simple to remove, the reservoir can also be carried to a faucet. We recommend refilling and rinsing it daily to keep your coffee tasting fresh.
The removable plastic drip trays make clean up simple. One of the two layered designs can be removed during brewing to provide additional clearance for taller cups.

Makes an excellent first time espresso maker. I bought this to replace a Krups espresso maker that I burned out. There's no fuss, no muss, just good espresso.

Daniel Moraldo ♦ No fuss, no muss indeed! Typical of Saeco machines. I'm not a translator but I think "Saeco" is Italian for "quality" ;) Great Machine!
