Saeco Xelsis Superautomatic Espresso Machine...

Features

Hate waking up in the morning, stumbling over to the espresso machine only to find your drink settings have been tampered with? Don’t let it happen again, with the Saeco Xelsis super-automatic espresso machine. With its Multi-Function and Multi-User settings, the Xelsis can be programmed to cater to the specific drink preferences of up to six different users. That means everyone in your household can create a personal profile and program their drink volume, temperature and strength settings for truly customized beverages on demand.

Not just a coffee machine, the Xelsis has a sophisticated milk system to indulge latte, cappuccino, and macchiato drinkers. An external milk carafe allows you to store the container in the fridge to ensure freshness; when needed, it easily attaches to the machine for instant steaming and frothing. As with most high-end Saeco super-automatic machines, the Xelsis comes equipped with a number of user-friendly features including: the Saeco Brewing and Aroma Systems, a ceramic disc grinder, removable water reservoir with Intenza filter, and automated cleaning cycles. The Xelsis also has a touch-screen interface that makes programming intuitive and hassle-free. This turnkey espresso machine is great for the busy, modern household.

Grinder, Bean Hopper, and Bypass Doser

The integrated heavy-duty ceramic disc grinder allows for precision grinding. The ceramic discs, or burrs, have the advantage of being more durable than their stainless steel counterparts; you’ll also be able to achieve a finer grind. This remarkably quiet grinder has an automatic shut-off feature and the grind fineness can be easily adjusted by the user. In addition, the Xelsis has a bean hopper, equipped with an airtight-sealed, anti-UV coated lid, to preserve your beans. A bypass doser gives you the option of skipping grinder in favor of pre-ground coffee.

Saeco Brewing System

A dial, located on the front of the machine, allows you to control the Saeco Brewing System. With this unique system, you can select the strength and consistency of your coffee to achieve the desired beverage. The Xelsis is backed by a powerful 1500-watt heating element or robust brewing operations. In addition, this model has double boilers, one for steaming and another for hot water dispensing.

Saeco Aroma System

The Xelsis features the Saeco Aroma System, a programmable pre-infusion cycle that infuses hot water into the coffee to extract the full flavor and aroma of your grounds. You can adjust the Aroma System by turning it on, off, or prolonging the cycle.

Multi-Function & Multi-User Feature

Customize drink volume, strength, or temperature, and other preferences for up to six users with the Multi-Function and Multi-User Feature. The Xelsis will remember every user profile and automatically activate the corresponding settings.

Milk System

The Saeco Xelsis has an innovative milk management system that features a detachable carafe. The milk container can be removed and stored in the refrigerator for your convenience. Once the milk container is attached to the machine, the Xelsis will steam or froth milk, according the beverage selected, and dispense the milk directly into your cup. An automated rinse cycle helps to keep the machine clean and free of build-up. You also have the option of manually steaming your milk using the steam wand/hot water dispenser.

Touch-Screen Controls

The illuminated touch-panel is both easy-to-read and intuitive. The controls have one-touch functionality and icon-based displays help guide you through the drink selection process.

Water Dispenser

Get hot water on demand for hot chocolate, tea, or even oatmeal. The water dispenser also doubles as a steam wand, allowing you to manually steam or froth your milk.

Water Tank

The Xelsis has a removable 54oz water tank with an Intenza water filter. Along with the bean hopper, the water tank is easily accessible from the top of the machine for hassle-free cleaning and refilling.

Design

The Xelsis has a durable, stainless steel frame and a sleek, modern design. The base of the machine has a sliding wheel base for easy rotation.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The brew group is accessible from the front and can be detached for easy rinsing and maintenance. You can remove both the group and grounds container without disturbing the drip tray or milk carafe.

Warranty

This machine includes a 1 year warranty directly through Saeco and an additional limited 1 Year Extended Warranty from Whole Latte Love. See Extended Warranties.

If you would like to know a little about the many types of espresso machines we sell, this would be a good video to get you started. This video covers the machines we sell and based on your lifestyle, what you like to drink, and ease of use. It will give you an overview of different espresso machines and help you determine which one best suits to your needs.

I would watch the video and focus on a particular kind of machine—prosumer, semi-automatic, and super-automatic to decide which kind is ideal for you. Then, you can go and look at individual models to get a better idea of exactly what you want. Of course, if you narrow it down to a few espresso machines and are still undecided, give us a call and we would be glad to help!

Mostly great

I am not an espresso expert though I love and appreciate a nice ristretto. I am always short of time between work and family - especially in the morning. I chose this machine for its super-automatic features and various online reviews. Overall I am delighted with the machine, it's coffee quality and ease of use. There is nothing like waking up in the morning pushing a button and enjoying a very good (not craft brewed great but very good) espresso in no time and with no effort. On the downside other reviews mention the small waste capacity and frequent cleaning need and they are right - it isn't that big a deal as one swings open the front panel, dumps the container and gives it a quick rinse - but doubling the waste capacity would be a big improvement. Love the machine!

This is our third Saeco machine. The first two were problematic. This is the best of the three and Saeco has made lots of improvements from our older model Primea Touch Plus. The biggest improvement is the milk container is external as compared to our previous machine. The internal milk container was the route to many of the problems we had with the older Primea Touch Plus. We've had this for about 6 months and nothing has gone wrong yet.

i.m stuck between the esam 6700 and the Xelsis. all reviews seem to suggest the Xelsis produces better coffee, but looking at the machine i think the build quality is terrible, i also do not like the fact you need to apply grease monthly to the mechanism. I am searching for a long latte over expresso. any comments would be appreciated

A A Neil,
I understand that for the price, it seems everything should be automated and hands off. While greasing the tracks on the Xelsis is an extra step that owners need to take to keep the machine running in tip top shape, having the ability to do that maintenance yourself is a big plus for a lot of people. Any machine is going to need basic maintenance through it's life, and the more that the consumer is able to do easily on their own, the cheaper the machine is to own over time. It sure beats having to send a machine to the manufacturer for service!

As far comparing the two machines, they are both exceptional machines with some great features. I really like how the Xelsis looks and how the interface operates. The 6700 has the water reservoir that comes out the front which is a great feature if you are short on space between your counters and cabinets. They both produce excellent drinks too. Two considerations for the Xelsis is that the milk system cleans itself with steam on its own, whereas the 6700 you have to hold a button to do so. Also, the Xelsis has its own steam wand/water wand so if you wanted to venture into frothing your own milk you would be able to easily.

I have the Gaggia Academia and LOVE most of everything about it, especially the very HOT coffee. My biggest complaint is the size of the internal drip tray...I'm forced to dump it every three/four cappuccinos. Do either the Xelsis or Exprelia offer a larger internal container? Is the coffee as hot as the Academia? If so, I may look at a swap. Thanks.

Sanfam ♦ Catherine, thank you for your question. First, the Gaggia Accademia, Saeco Xelsis, and Saeco Exprelia utilize the same interior drip tray and dreg drawer--You would see no difference between this part of either machine. With regard to the drip tray filling up fairly quickly, one common cause of this is routine use scattered throughout the day. When the machine is switched on or off (whether automatically or manually), it will run through a rinse cycle that runs a few ounces of water through the brew unit and spouts, straight into the drip tray. Similarly, the machine also purges the steam circuit after frothing drinks to ensure that no residual milk is left behind. In any case, these are both excellent maintenance features, but they can be switched off as needed--Just be certain to run the manual rinsing process every so often! Don't hesitate to give Technical Support a call to walk you through changing the factory rinse settings.

I am shopping for a super autho expresso machine. What would you say the biggest difference is between the Gaggia Academia and the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 ?

mjackson ♦ Marcia,
Good question. Here is what I think. Accademia - has a great steam wand, Jura does not. Academia will make a better espresso. It also has a a better milk system that cleans itself after you make a drink and then you can put the milk container back in fridge. It also has a removable brew group you can clean. The Jura will make a stronger coffee with one push as it doses more per serving. I do like the Gaggia.

How hot will the Saeco X heat the milk? any desired temperature or does it have a limit?

mjackson ♦ Ray,

It does not have a temperature control so that you can set it for a desired temperature. It does a pretty good job, but it will certainly not be to hot. Our tests have shown it will get the milk to right around 130 degrees.

Do we have to descale if we use distilled water ?

Michael Rosso ♦ Philippe...You should descale even if you are using distilled water. Distilled water will have some(although less than tap water)minerals and sediment which will cause some buildup in your machine. If you have any further questions please free to contact us at 1-888-411-5282 optional 3.

Do you recommend the Saeco Xelsis as one of the best Super Automatic machines? I was looking at the DeLongi and Jura, but now I see this one.... it looks awesome! Is there plastic on it or is it metal? Can you froth your own milk or use the auto frother? If I order it, does it come with any free items? Looking forward to your reply.....

TechMilanoItalia Yes, we would definitely recommend this machine as a top-of-the-line superautomatic. It does have a stainless steel outer housing. You can either use the frothing wand on the front of the machine or the auto-frother system. Give our Sales Department a call at: 888.411.5282 to check if there are any promotions at this time for that model.
