Essential Info:
Simplicity and efficiency are at the forefront of the Technivorm K 741’s design. This 10-cup, drip coffee maker is one of two machines that meets the SCAA’s certification standards, meaning the Technivorm consistently brews between 194 and 204ºF – the optimal brewing temperature range as defined by the SCAA. Balancing this technological advantage are the Technivorm’s simple controls that allow you to brew perfect full or partial pots, pause the brewing process to pour a cup of coffee, and control the hot plate temperature. The Technivorm Clubline KB 741 is available in polished silver with black accents.
Controls:
The Technivorm’s 3 switches make it easy to brew without any guesswork. On the base of the machine you’ll find the on/off switch, which begins the brewing process and, with the use of a red indicator light, alerts you when the machine is turned on and brewing. Next to this button is the hot plate control switch(extra hot setting for full pots and hot setting for smaller pots). The final switch is located on the filter holder, where you select the size you want to brew-- a full pot, when the switch is in the up position; a small pot, when the switch is in the center position; and pause (when you want to pour a cup during the brewing process), when the switch is in the down position. This switch controls how much and how quickly water is able to flow through the dispensing hole on the bottom of the filter holder. The Technivorm also features an indicator light that alerts you when the machine needs to be descaled.
Performance:
The KB 741 is SCAA certified to brew a great cup of coffee. Whether you're brewing a full, 10-cup pot or a smaller one, your Technivorm will perform beautifully. Brewing with water that is heated to the correct temperature ensures that the flavor nuances of your coffee are preserved and virtually eliminates your chances of getting a bitter or sour cup. The Technivorm, which brews a full pot in about 7 minutes, is also one of the quietest brewing drip-coffee machines available today.
Construction:
Masking the Technivorm’s modern technology is its retro styling. The exterior of the KB 741 is constructed of polished silver aluminum accented with shiny black plastic. Its no-scratch aluminum housing is also very good at remaining fingerprint-free, so it’s easy to keep this machine clean. The reservoir is constructed of clear plastic with a small metal grate at the bottom that allows water to drain into the central heating unit. After the water is heated, it visibly bubbles up through a clear plastic tube in the center of the reservoir before entering a metal tube that carries this water to its destination. This unique view of the brewing process adds an additional bit of charm to this already charismatic machine.
Carafe:
Another unique feature of the Technivorm is its carafe “Mixinglid”. This lid has a black plastic tube attached that runs to the bottom of the KB 741’s 10-cup glass carafe. Brewed coffee enters and is delivered to the bottom the carafe through this tube, automatically mixing it with previously brewed coffee to produce an evenly flavored brew. The carafe does not have water level markings labeled on it, but this has been remedied by the reservoir, which is clearly marked right on the front.
Hot Plate:
The hot plate has separate temperature levels for full and small pots. The manufacturer recommends that you use the extra hot setting for full pots and the hot setting for small pots. This can be controlled using the rocker switch on the front of the machine. When the hot plate is on the extra hot setting, the indicator light on the switch will illuminate.
Reservoir:
With its clear plastic construction, the reservoir offers a unique peek at the brewing process. Mounted on the top of the machine (as opposed to in the back of the machine), you can see right through the reservoir. Once brewing begins, water begins to flow down through the metal drain in the rear of the reservoir and then starts to heat below. In the center of the reservoir is a plastic tube that channels heated water up to the spray head for dispersion over the coffee grounds. During the brewing process, you can see the heated water bubbles make their way up the tube.
Water Filtration:
The Technivorm has no water filtration system. Because of this, we would recommend using pre-filtered water. This not only helps to limit the amount of scale that builds up inside the machine, but also removes certain compounds that could negatively affect your coffee’s flavor.
Coffee Filter:
You can use a #4 paper cone filter in the Technivorm KB 741.
Accessories/Re-order:
This coffee maker ships with #4 paper cone filters and a coffee scoop.

In this video we'll be featuring the Technivorm Moccamaster coffee brewers. The best feature of this coffee brewer is that it brews out "hot" to extract the most flavor out of your drip coffee. We've tested the temperature and it brews out at 198 degrees at the start and finishes at over 200. Pair it up with the Capresso Infinilty coffee grinder and you will be brewing out coffee that you think you got at your local coffee shop. I use this coffee brewer everyday at home and love it. Happy Brewing...

We bought a Technivorm in 2006 and with everyday use it is still making great coffee. Does now leak water out the bottom, but it is the best drip coffee maker we have had in 35 years of making coffee.

I love this coffee maker. I was tired of buying coffee makers that only lasted a few months and then died a short death!! I decided to do some serious research and found the Technivorm Mocha Master. We have had this baby running for almost 2 years making three to four pots a day, and it's still working like the first day. It makes the coffee fast and keeps it hot. Even when adding milk. My husband became a convert and ditched his french press after the first cup, and hasn't gone back since!!

Fast hot coffee every time. Coffee taste great.

Organic whole bean, ground when making. Also Kona when my son brings home from Hawaii.
An automatic off switch. The only bummer is that you have to physically turn it off.

Once I started roasting my own beans, the standard drip pot was no longer sufficient. The Technivorm is absurdly pricey at one level, but since I used it every day, it's quickly paying off. The main experience is like getting a new pair of speakers or headphones: it sounded fine before, but NOW you can REALLY HEAR the range! Same with drip coffee: only the Technivorm releases the full range of flavor from a drip machine. Furthermore, it's fast, quiet, and doesn't take up too much space on the countertop. I can't imagine morning without it!

Besides the features above, the ability to open or shut the flow to allow for grounds soaking before dripping through. Also, the mixing lid that doesn't leave the last coffee at the top (although I always pour it immediately in a thermal carafe anyway).
See Sweet Maria's tipsheet.

About as perfect as a technology can be, but it would be great if the removable parts (lid, cone, cone cover) weren't cheap plastic.

I eagerly anticipated using this machine due to other reviews which were favorable. Although the coffee is excellent, I have found that the design has too many parts, which makes it hard to thoroughly clean, very time consuming to make a cup of coffee, and the lack of a safety "automatic turn off" feature is a disappointment and concern. In addition, although you can select to stop brew process, it is manual and can cause a huge mess if you forget to switch back to processing mode. In summary, great coffee but too much trouble-very disappointing.

Lots of "parts". What should be simple, pour water, fill filter and brew is an acrobatic session of remove cover from filter head, remove filter head, insert filter and coffee, aligin filter head into "groove", align cover of filter head to extended water arm, fill pot with water, fill water into container and put pot under filter head. Water temp IS hot, which is GOOD for good coffee but, I get the same results with less effort now with hot water from my espresso machine and a french press.

Yes, it's expensive, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly applies. Absolutely excellent coffee that brews HOT! I cannot say enough good things about this coffee maker and the folks a Wholelattelove. I've been a customer for years.

The Technivorm Clubline 741 has been my choice of brewer for the last 15 months. Technivorm is SCAA approved for a reason - The brew Temperature is 203 degrees EVERY time. It simply makes "bang on" perfect coffee for those of us who prefer the best. I can sometimes make a comparable or better cup only with the Chemex and only if I am FULLY awake as it is a manual pour over brewer that calls for boiling the water in a kettle before brewing. The People of the Netherlands are SERIOUS about their Kaffe. Technivorms have no Trendy gadgets - only what is necessary for the best cup. The Clubline 741 is suprizingly simple, Fun to watch, and worth every penny. I paid just under $200.00 for mine. I descale monthly. If you must drink coffee that has been brewed through a paper filter (cholesterol issues), this machine is a MUST.
