Urnex Cafiza Super Auto Cleaning Tablets
Is there any reason not to get these tablets as opposed to the Jura cleaning tablets which cost three times as much?

mjackson ♦ Joseph,
The cleaning tabs are more for the cleaning of the brewgroup and other internal parts. You may want to look and see if your machine can use a water filter like the Mavea or Aqua prima. See this link - http://www.wholelattelove.com/partsandcare.cfm?cid=28&scid=70. Or you may want to look into a descaler, such as - http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/urnex_dezcal.cfm or a liquid one like this - http://www.wholelattelove.com/Durgol/durgol_swiss_espresso.cfm. The descaling products should help of you are in a hard water area or a filter would also really help if your machine is built to use one. I hope this helps and let us know if you have any questions.
Do these tabs work for the cleaning cycle of the Jura Capressa Super Automatics?

Zack Smith Rebecca, Jura has there own cleaning tablets that are designed for use in their super automatic machines. They are call the Jura cleaning tablets. However the Urnex cleaning tablets would also work in your machine.
I have Gaggia Platinum swing - what do i need for descaling? What is need for cleaning? Can I use this for cleaning?

Zack Smith Enrigue, You should descale your machine every couple months to ensure that there is no hard water buildup. To descale your machine you should use the Urnex cleancaf. It comes in a box with 3 packets to a box. As far as weekly cleaning you can just remove the brew group from the machine and wash it off with hot water.

DRuff Hi Glenn. Thank you for your question. I’m glad you are enjoying your Jura machine. Yes, Jura does have a version of these tablets. Both can be used in any super-automatic machine that requires the use of cleaning tablets. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions. Happy Brewing.

Michael Rosso ♦ Marie... Jura actually have specific tablets that are formulated for them and to work in their machines using their built in descaling programs. I know this system works and works very well. I am not sure if another type of product would work as well. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at 1-888-411-5282 option 1. Happy brewing.
Are these OK to use in my Bosch Benvenuto B-30 machine? It has a cleaning program that tells you when to drop the tablet in the chute. The Bosch brand tablets are virtually impossible to find in the US and I'm not sure if it's OK to substitute Capresso or Urnex tablets. The manual, naturally, says you need to use the Bosch tablets. Your opinion, please?

MikeR Either is an ok substitution. The Capresso ones I think are a more direct sub, as they have a lubrication agent in the tablet. But for cost, I'd probably alternate the two tablets, in lieu of the official Bosch tabs.

will these work on my Gaggia syncrony logic super automatic for descaling?

TechMilanoItalia Mary, for descaling that machine you would want Cleancaf (found here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/cleancaf.cfm ). The cleaning tabs are for use with machines that have a 'Brew Group Wash' feature.
I have a Gaggia Synchrony Compact, about 6 yrs old.
Every time I've tried to clean it with cleaning tabs by putting them in the pre-ground chute, the machine immediately clogs, plugs tight, and "pressure overloads". Then I have to completely disassemble the machine, clean everything by hand, and get it back together so I can use it.
What do you suggest?

TechMilanoItalia Steve, do not put the tabs into the pre-ground chute on the machine. It does not have a brew group cleaning cycle like some of the other Super Automatics do. If you want to use those tabs, you would have to break them up and dissolve them in the water tank to run through like the descaler. We would just recommend using Cleancaf and simply rinsing the brew unit weekly.

Vinegar is an incredibly versatile product and has become a household staple as it is cheap, widely available, and can be used for just about anything. One misconception about vinegar is that it is a good way to clean and descale coffee machines. While it may sound self-serving, here’s why it is a bad idea to use vinegar:
1. The vinegar leaves a strong odor (as everyone knows) that can co-mingle with coffee oil, turning your fresh brew into a “fresh ew.”
2. It does not clean! While vinegar might be able to gently break down some hard water deposits, it does not effectively clean your coffee machine or remove oils.
3. It takes forever to rinse: our tests show that vinegar takes 3.5 times longer to rinse out of a drip brewer or capsule machine than does Dezcal,Full Circle Descaler, or other Urnex Brands, Inc. products.
There you have it: vinegar is great for almost anything. Rather than waste water trying to rinse out your semi-cleaned and now-smelly coffee machine, use a professionally formulated coffee machine cleaner or descaler.
And to prove that we at Urnex do not hate vinegar, here are a few of our favorite places to use vinegar (just some of the 1,001 ways to use vinegar):
1. Wacky cake—quick rise cake made without yeast, eggs, butter, or milk
2. Easter eggs—vinegar is an important component for coloring!
3. Window cleaner—simply combine vinegar, water, and some elbow grease!
4. Salad dressing—it’s as easy as olive oil and vinegar!
5. Pickling—come on, who doesn’t love pickles?

Seem to work okay. They are more crumbly than the Jura brand, but for the much lower price, I'll put up with that.
Michael Rosso ♦ John...Jura has designed their cleaning tablets specifically for cleaning their machines. Thanks.
