Nice!

This is a good tamper, that works just about perfectly with my Rancilio Silvia. It feels great in my hand, is nicely weighted, not too heavy, or too light. It's actually a 3-piece tamper: the bottom, which appears to be cast stainless, a black plastic ring near the bottom and an acrylic handle that simply screws on. When you remove the acrylic handle, it becomes apparent that it's NOT a stainless ball on the top (it's too light for that), but rather some plating on the acrylic that looks like stainless. I love the feel, and how it works, and use it in preference to the plastic thing that came with my Silvia. I did, however, make a new top part for it, to screw on in place of the acrylic. I turned a piece of Spalted Maple, and now have an absolutely unique tamper. It works like a dream, and is pretty and different.

Great

This tamper feels great in my hand, very heavy, looks great. For 25 dollars you would be hard to beat it. It is way heavier and better built than I thought it would be. I would order again. I got mine in the clear and it looks great. It arrived quickly, and was packaged quite well with a bunch of other toys!.

mjackson ♦ It is always nice to hear great things. I am always amazed at just how much happiness one can get from purchasing a nice tamper. Really makes it more fun to have the tools for the job especially when they are well designed and priced.

Dules A little update on this review. I did have one issue with it. When I ordered a Bottomless portafilter and a 58mm Triple basket, it would not fit into the particular aftermarket Triple basket. I was a little surprised at this, since it fits nicely into my stock Expobar double basket.

mjackson ♦ It seems to me people really like what they have. I do think each side has valid points. I do think both work well. I do know a great grinder is really the key to happiness. Good coffee doesn't hurt either.
