Espresso-based drinks have kept many of us going day in and day out this past winter. I know that is what I use to get me up and keep me going. So, what do we do to get our caffeine this summer with out getting too hot? Well, after searching through books and the internet I must say that there are many choices. These iced drinks are very simple to make and taste great.

Cappuccino Espresso BookOne drink that caught my eye is the “Fruity Iced Latte” (page 95 of the Cappuccino Espresso book). This is what you need: ice, 1 shot of espresso, 3 ounces of fruit-flavored syrup, and cold milk. Put those items in a 12 ounce glass, in that order, and you get a wonderfully fruity iced latte.

Here are some more interesting recipes you might like:

“Iced Mocha Mint Latte”
What you need:

  • ice

  • 1 shot espresso

  • 1oz. Chocolate Syrup

  • 1oz. Crème de Menthe Syrup

  • 1oz. Crème de Cacao Syrup

  • cold milk

What you do: fill 12ounce glass with ice, add espresso and syrups, fill rest of glass with cold milk.

“Iced Melba Latte”
What you need:

  • ice

  • 1 shot espresso

  • 2oz. Peach Syrup

  • 1oz. Raspberry Syrup

  • cold milk

What you do: fill 12ounce glass with ice, add espresso and syrups, fill rest of glass with cold milk.

One thing to keep in mind when you are making an iced latte is do not froth the milk. Iced Lattes are simple espresso-based coffee drinks that anyone can make in a couple minutes. There are different variations to making them. For example, you can either pour the ingredients over ice or you can mix them together in a blender.

iced coffee drinksFor the tea lover there are different iced tea drinks too. I found many recipes online using a search for “iced tea drinks”. For example, there is an excellent “Chai Iced Tea” drink recipe at here. These drinks are also very easy to make. Just look at how easy it is to make the “Chai Iced Tea” drink: You need 8 Chai Tea bags, 2 cups of boiling water, 1/2 cup of evaporated milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, and ice. Simple brew the tea, steep for 3 to 5 minutes, add sugar and water and then pour over ice.

When all is said and done there are many ways that each one of us can get our daily, or hourly, dose of caffeine this summer and still stay cool. Check out the Cappuccino Espresso book. Online searches will also overwhelm you with ideas and recipes. To help you out we do have a number of syrups available. If you don’t see what you are looking for we may have it, so just give us a call or e-mail us.
