We had a lot of good answers, but Devin managed to answer all four correct.
Although his administration was peppered with scandal and corruption, this Taurus’ leadership style was often compared to that of Napoleon. This two-term president loved the outdoors, especially Yellowstone National Park, loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and loved spending time with his wife and four children. This president got down and dirty on more than one occasion, sleeping in a bedroll, shaving with a straight razor and drinking bitter-tasting chicory coffee when in the field.
ANSWER: PRESIDENT ULYSSES S. GRANT
This ring knocker and Texas native was one of the first documented ticket-splitters, who ended up being classified as a do-nothing president. Although this two-term president was immortalized on a coin, he was often criticized for the amount of time he spent out of the Oval Office – but if you live in Alaska or Hawaii, you might disagree.
ANSWER: DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
After winning a lengthy, bitterly disputed and seemingly corrupt election, this one-term president took the oath of office right at the White House, surrounded by crimson, his alma mater’s color. Together with his wife and brood of children he created a famed tradition that many Potomac area residents line up for every spring.
ANSWER: RUTHERFORD B. HAYES
Like so many before him, this frat boy’s presidency was surrounded by scandal, bribery and conspiracy. In fact, some speculate this well dressed and socially versed Libra may have been born outside the United States – not the Green Mountain State. Only Greenwich Mean Time will tell – if you know who this president is.
ANSWER: CHESTER A. ARTHUR
Congratulations again to Devin and thanks for all of the entries. See you next year when there’s a new POTUS! [aka. President of the United States]
