Nobody has ever accused Lavazza of being an espresso lightweight. The company has recently cemented its name in the coffee history books with the jaw-dropping Espresso Solo machine designed by Shmuel Linski, a student at the Shenkar College in Israel. Set in stone, the Lavazza Espresso Solo looks to be a single-serve machine with two drink buttons capable of delivering long and short espressos. The brew group, grounds container, water tank and cup holder are all made of stainless steel, giving the machine an undeniably urban look.
I can’t decide if the Solo is ground breaking or a serious throwback machine—way back…to the Stone Age. But, if you’re not quite ready to for a concrete block on the kitchen counter, check out one of Lavazza’s more conventional machines, such as the Blue 2210 or Espresso Point.
