Now that autumn is here, it’s a great time to sip on a hot coffee beverage that incorporates the flavor of the season. Normandy coffee is named after the region in France known for its apple orchards. The drink consists of coffee, apple cider, brown sugar and spices. Try making this at home to fill your kitchen with the aroma of fall. Here are the directions for making it on the stove:
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of brewed coffee
  • 1 cup of apple cider
  • tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 6 thin orange slices
  • Pinch of nutmeg and cardamom if handy

Combine ingredients into a saucepan and bring to medium heat. Reduce to low and let simmer for ten minutes with boiling. Strain and drink.

To make Normandy coffee in a coffee maker such as the Capresso CoffeeTeam TS or the Bunn BTX-B:

  1. Place ¼ cup of coffee grounds into a coffee filter
  2. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top of the coffee grounds
  3. Fill the pot halfway with water and pour into the machine
  4. Fill the empty pot halfway with cider, stirring in the brown sugar
  5. Put the pot in place and turn on the coffee maker to brew
  6. Pour into mug and garnish with an orange slice and cinnamon stick
