Can someone tell me an approximate brew temperature or highest temp? I have looked at other coffee pots that say 200ish is the perfect temperature to get all the flavors out of the coffee and the reviews seems to concur with that. Just want to know what they state for this one or if it has been tested with a thermometer.
Thanks!

Our poor Cuisinart is on its last brews. I have been looking for a 12 or greater brew-style machine and have spent the best part of 3 hours researching everything from $30 to $500. The only conclusion that I have is that the more expensive teh machine, the more unhappy reviewers are. Can you please help a poor soul who need a decent brew for his family to wake up to in the morning, or be ready to be brewed QUICKLY with squinty eyes as he shuffles into the kitchen? Marital bliss is dependent on your answer, so no pressure... :-) Many thanks!

I'm looking for a decent brew-style coffee machine as our faithful Cuisinart is now on it's last few brews after several years of daily abuse in our household. My wife and I guzzle approx. 10 cups between us by 7 am... Then if our darling eldest son decides to get out of his 3-hour 300 gallon daily shower routine, there is nothing left for him. I have spent 2 hours researching various models from $30 to $500 machines. Seems like the more expensive the machine, the more complaints as quality standards at that price range are not being met. Help!!! Please!!!! Don't make me have to run to Starbuck for our morning coffee... :-)

DanielCulver Phil, This might be a good time to consider an espresso machine. Gaggia Classic semi-auto would be a good place to jump in within your price range. Just thinking out loud. ;)
If the machine is functioning well and I'm not using oily beans, how often should I clean out the grinder?

techkathy If the grinder is functioning properly then you really don't need to clean it.

mjackson ♦ Lisa,
Good question and hard to answer. I would say about every three to four months would be adequate. It is easy to do with that machine and is a great way to keep you machinery making great coffee and running well.

mjackson ♦ Carolyn,
It will be the consistency of a syrup as withe most of the syrups we sell. If you are looking for a sauce check out the Ghiradelli sauces.
Well, hopefully this is a simple question with an equally simple answer. I've go a Gaggia Titanium (actually two but one bit the dust quite while ago so could be a part machine if needed).
So ... my quandary is as follows: after a descale/rinse operation it will brew an espresso and allow activating the hotwater/steam function but with a very weak dispensing for only 30 seconds before the pump quits and instructs to close the valve. After this, the display comes up with the "ventilate" message and won't change from that even though button 26 is pushed as instructed in the manual.
Is there something that I can do to correct this or must I send it out for repair? And if repair is the only option, can you give me a hint as to who to contact?
Thanks ... Russ

DanielCulver Not trying to answer your question as specific to the Gaggia Titanum (I hear it is a very nice machine) but more generally to this type of problem. Any time you clean and descale machinery that incorporates heat you have to be prepared for the cleaning to make matters worse instead of better. This is because on occasion, the cleaning loosens some scale that lodges into a valve, pump, or corner fitting where it is difficult to dissolve. While you are waiting for a machine specific answer you might consider re-cleaning and descaling your machine to see if that fixes, or at least improves, your situation. Good luck. :)
Russ L'Rogue Hey thanks, Daniel ... and yes, this a very nice machine ...
I descale on a fairly regular basis or at least when the machine asks for it. And after the initial descaling and the "ventilate" situation I repeated with the same result. Perhaps this evening I'll have another go at it ...
DanielCulver Russ, a tricky situation to be sure. I have personal experience with a reliable machine (Gaggia) needing descaling 3xs before returning to working order. I like to alternate a commercial de-scaler with vinegar. This is a personal choice based on professional experience with boilers used for cleaning and sterilizing work. I hope this helps. :)
Russ L'Rogue Hey thanks again ... as I said, I'm gonna do another descaling a bit later and another if necessary. Out of curiosity in case I find some around here, what would be the proper proportions of vinegar to water?
And thanks again ...
DanielCulver Russ, I like to use 50-50% wter and vinegar, but store bought vinegar is already a dilute acid so for tough jobs I go straight. I've had a similar problem on a much cheaper machine and I can tell you that occasionally the steam plumbing can get seriously clogged up requiring full strength vinegar, several attempts, and patients. Good luck working this out. If this persists I would take the time to call WLL and ask for technical support. :)
Hi, so I recently purchased this from you guys for my old espresso gaggia 16002 ( http://www.amazon.com/Gaggia-16002-Espresso-Machine-Black/dp/B0000CFET5/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top ) and am having some trouble fitting this attachment. I assumed after reading all the other questions, that it would fit almost all old Gaggia's out there with a metal steam arm, so I went ahead and bought it. However, since my steam arm already has the upper housing section and gasket/o-ring attached (like this: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/Attachments/DSCF4802.JPG ) It's becoming apparent that this isn't going to fit :/ Any tips or solutions?

DanielCulver The picture is quite blurred but have you examined closely to see if that fitting is made up of two pieces suggesting a collet type fitting that can be removed. :)
Can the Domepods be used in the Handpresso Auto? If yes, am I understanding correctly that I can grind my own favorite beans into these pods and then use the pods in the Handpresso Auto?
Thanks!

techkathy The Handpresso Auto can only use the pre-packed paper pods (ESE pods). It is not designed to use the Domepods.

DanielCulver Phillip, it's pretty normal to get more complaints as the price increases. There are several natural reasons for that, that don't actually reflect on the product. Generally in the brewing area I prefer the Jura-Capresso products. I sent my son to UC Berkeley with a lesser priced Jura that survived 1 year in the dorm and 3 years in a bachelor pad with 4 rooms mates and various girls friends in and out. It worked the whole time, never needed repair, and was still working when he left. It was seldom cleaned. FWIW. :)
