techkathy The Livia 90 is a tank version. It does not require an external water supply.
After nearly a decade with my Starbucks Barista machine (which finally bit the dust) I finally upgraded to Miss Silvia. After doing much research and watching the how to videos of many machines, I decided that the Rancilio Silvia was the right fit. I wanted a semi automatic and I wanted...

I agree a little respect seems to help. I enjoyed your review and it is truly a great machien once you understand how it works. Thanks for the great review.
I have several espresso machines in addition to this machine for regular American style coffee. This unit makes great coffee, the only drawback is that the built in grinder collects moisture with every pot brewed. Either you have the take the grinder out for cleaning every pot or switch to...

A A Anna,
That happens often! We sell the part individually, and a lot of people order a couple at a time for just that reason. I have included a link directly to the part below:

Bought this setup about 6 months ago. Overall I am satisfied, however, when I make a latte the coffee flavor is weak. This has me questioning if the Gaggia Classic is capable of producing coffee as strong a commercial espresso machine? (When I get a latte at the coffee shop, I usually get a 16oz with two shots, at home I make 8-10oz cup with two shots and it is noticeably weaker.)

A A William,
There are a lot of different variables that could cause coffee to be weaker than you would like. We have a video about the "Golden Rule" of Espresso that I have included a link to below. Take a look, give the tips a shot, and let us know how it goes!

A A Jim,
This sampler is absolutely OK for use with a super auto. There are really just a few beans we have that we wouldn't suggest for use in a super auto, and they are specified in the product description.
Should I buy the gaggia classic/mdf espresso bar or the rancilio silva/ rocky combo, is paying $500 dollars more worth getting the rancilio combo.

A A Phillip,
The Classic and the Silvia are most commonly compared because between the two, there isn't really a machine that performs as well as they do - at least as far as using commercial baskets is concerned. The Classic will heat up the fastest, as it has a thermoblock element, while the Silvia has a commercial style boiler. In fact, while all the parts in the Classic are high quality, all the part in the Silvia are commercial style and quality. If you really enjoy milk based drinks, the Silvia is going to give you the better steam between the two.
I hope this help!
I own both machines (my Saeco is the black, not the stainless, but there is no mechanical difference between them). Please check my review regarding the Rancilio Rocky for greater detail; but in short, the Rocky is so precise that you get coffee house quality shots (from good beans, of course)...

Michael Rosso ♦ Pamela I am glad you are enjoying your grinder. TheRancilio Rocky grinders are truly a great grinders. They use the same motor and burrs as the larger MD 40 grinder. Enjoy
