Essential Info: When you consider machines that promise to perform two coffee making functions, you always have to ask: will the trade off in convenience come at the cost of performance? Like many machines now appearing, the Cuisinart Grind & Brew combines the two key steps in preparing a great cup of coffee: grinding and brewing. It also offers a sophisticated looking design in the process. The Cuisinart Grind & Brew epitomizes efficiency and ease of use. This 12-cup drip coffee maker f
The bottom of the coffee grinder part sticks and doesn't want to come out of the coffee maker to be cleaned. What can be done about this and what may be causing it?

Whole Latte Love Staff It sounds like the grinding unit needs to be cleaned more frequently. The sticking youre describing is probably being caused by the oil on the coffee beans, especially if they are particularly oily beans. In this case, I would recommend contacting Cuisinart directly so that they can send you some more extensive grinder cleaning instructions. They can be reached at 800-726-0190.
Does this grind & Brew coffee pot keep the coffee hot after brewing?

Whole Latte Love Staff Yes - the Grind and Brew Auto has a scratch resistant hot plate that will keep your coffee heated after brewing. The hot plate can be turned off using the machines on/off switch, but also has an auto-off feature that can be programmed to turn off the machine up to 4 hours after brewing. If no time is programmed, the machine will automatically turn off 2 hours after brewing.
Could I just pour in the coffee beans and then it would grind them and brew a pot by just the push of a button?

Whole Latte Love Staff If youre going to brewing right away, the process you described is exactly what youd want to do. Just fill the reservoir with the right amount of water, put beans in the grinder, add your filter basket, and press the "on" button. In minutes, youll have freshly brewed coffee.
Whole Latte Love Staff When using a blade grinder (like the one built into this machine) your coffee will be stronger the longer its ground because by making the grinds finer youre increasing the surface area that the water is able to extract flavor from. However, because of this increased surface area it is also very easy to overextract the grounds and produce a bitter flavor, so its important not to make the grind too fine to avoid this.
Please note, however, that when using a burr grinder (like the one found in the Capresso CoffeeTeam) the length of grind time is NOT relative to the size of the grind. This is because burrs have the ability to be set to produce a specific grind size and they will not vary from that fineness once its set. Instead, you would simply change the grind setting to get the desired fineness, and not the length of time it takes to grind.
Today while I was making a coffee in my wonderful Gaggia super-automatic, a nasty "squealing" noise occurred, which I had never heard before. I turned the machine off, pulled out the brew group, cleaned it and everything else I could see. The noise did more or less go away, though there was still a bit of a remnant. I have performed descaling once, when I was instructed to do so, and I try to clean the brew group every so often.

Whole Latte Love Staff This is an issue of lubrication. The brew unit needs to be lubricated with food edible grease. This will solve the problem of the squealing brew unit. You can purchase this product by calling us at 1-888-411-5282 and asking for a tube of Petro Gel grease.
i recently purchased the gaggia coffee deluxe and was wondering how long can i leave the main power on when not brewing? for example, if i am going to wait an hour for another espresso should i turn it off wait 50 min then turn it back on wait 10 min and brew, or is ok to leave it on?

Whole Latte Love Staff It is not recommended that you leave this machine on when it is not in use. The main reason for this is that it does not have an auto-fill feature (like prosumer machines do), so the water can fully evaporate from the boiler. In addition, leaving it on for extended periods can decrease the life of the heating element over time. I would recommend turning the machine off if you wont be brewing with it again within an hour.
My Jura Espresso machine says to replace the filter. My husband thinks that the filter is called Claris. However I cannot find it in the parts section. Can you please tell me how to get this water filter?
