Gaggia Brera Espresso Machine in Silver
Gaggia Brera Espresso Machine in Silver

My Gaggia Brera brews great coffee, but in the past month or two, about 20% o the time after the grinding cycle, the out of beans indicator light turns on and she dumps the unbrewed coffee grounds into the dispenser. I wash the brew group once per week, which includes cleaning the area above the brew group with a dry toothbrush. If I look down the bypass doser hole during grinding, I can't see any obstructions or issues that would cause the machine to dump the unbrewed coffee grounds. Any thoughts?

techkathy Is the coffee you are using a dark roast or oily? Oily coffees tend to stick together and not fall into the grinding burrs. The machine will then act like it is out of coffee.

Gaggia Titanium Office Super-Automatic Espresso Machine
Gaggia Titanium Office Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

My titanium is brewing incredibly slow. I've disassembled the thing, cleaned everything that could be cleaned (including the grinder) and reassembled it. It gives frequent (every 2-3 cups) ventilate errors, but ventilating doesn't help. Grind is fairly coarse. I've had it for 6 years almost - is the pump going out? Other suggestions?

techkathy It is possible that the pump is wearing out. But you can do a quick experiment to see if the water curcuit is blocked. hit the bypass button (looks like a scoop), don't add any coffee, then hit the medium coffee button. If water flows through then its either the grind is too fine or the pump is weakening.

Jura-Capresso Impressa ENA4
Jura-Capresso Impressa ENA4

Hello, I am very interested in this machine, but have one concern - reviews of it on other Web sites (no worries, if I purchase it, it will be here; the price is right, and a friend highly recommends you) indicate that there is a issue with the steamer wand "flying off" during steaming, resulting in a big mess as well as a burn hazard when steam shoots everywhere. Yet, the reviews stating this (there are several) are all at least 1 year old.

I am wondering if this apparent design flaw has been corrected by Jura with this current model? Have you heard of this issue with this machine before?

Thank you...

Does the Gaggia Classic still come with both pressurized and un-pressurized brew baskets?

gophishin I've asked WLL customer service and received two slightly different answers, but it sounds like at a minimum you will receive a commercial double basket, a pressurized double basket, and a pod basket. This is what I received in my order, and there was also a sheet in the box which appeared to be from WLL explaining what each of the three different baskets was for.

mjackson ♦ You will get three baskets a double shot traditional basket a single and a double pressurized basket and a plastic two way pin to use the pressurized basket properly.

techkathy Try resetting the machine to the factory settings. Make sure that there is nothing under the water tank preventing it from seating all the way down. You can also try manually priming the machine. Click on the link below to see a short video on priming.
