Simply put yes. This is exactly what this wand is designed for. It will create great microfoam and it will be all based on how good you are at creating microfoam. There is no "proper" depth marking on the wand. It is really all a matter of practice. Mark and Morgan recently did a video about the different Gaggia wands that I think you may find helpful:

Sanfam ♦ This wand will fit any of the Gaggia Classics we presently sell, as well as those dating back to somewhere in the mid-90's. If it has a bare metal steam arm and shipped with a removable plastic frothing wand, this will work.
