Gaggia Pod/Single Basket
I assume that this particular item is a traditional (i.e. non-pressurized) single shot basket. Do traditional filter baskets generally produce better brew than pressurized ones?

No more pod attachments needed to use espresso pods with your Gaggia espresso machine. The single shot/pod filter basket works perfectly. Its shape easily accommodates E.S.E. compatible pods or a single shot of espresso. We have done extensive in-house testing and the results are fantastic!

Can you tell me more about the Gaggia Single basket? I recently received a Gaggia espresso maker as a gift and have been very disappointed. The 2 cup standard filter comes out perfect, however usually I just make one cup for me and the filter with the pin hole that came with the machine for single cups clogged with a piece of coffee bean shortly after I used it. I have to clean it constantly with a pin. I prefer using ESE pods when possible but because of the clogged pin hole (no matter how much I try to clean it, soaking it water, etc., I cannot get it to work properly. I'd prefer to find a single cup size filter that I can use with beans or ESE pods. I find that when the current filter does work with ESE pods, although I get lots of creme, the coffee tastes under extracted.
Thanks

mjackson ♦ David,
If you have the pressurized single shot basket. You need to make sure that you are also using the two way plastic pin with it. It should be with your machine and it goes between the bottom of the basket and your portafilter. You can buy from us either a dedicated gaggia pod basket , or a single shot basket non pressurized if you like as well. You can call and order these. I am not sure how you can coffee stuck in the pressurized basket.
Hi, I would like to know if this is the pressurized one? Can I use normal cofee with it? I just bought a Gaggia and it came only with the pressurized baskets and need to buy the normal ones....

mjackson ♦ It is not a pressurized basket. It will work with pods as well as ground coffee. It does a nice job with both products.
Will this 58 mm Gaggia E.S.E. pod filter fit the portafilter in the Breville Double Boiler?

mjackson ♦ Bonnie,
There is no pod adapter that will fit in the Breville, unfortunately it was not designed to brew pods. I hope this helps but it is a nice machine.
We recently ordered the Gaggia Classic and are having trouble with the single pod basket. It spurts espresso everywhere when you use it. We tried everything from grinding the beans different to tampering less and nothing works. The double pod basket works fine. After looking at the basket trying to figure out what could be wrong we noticed that it only had one tiny hole on the back side and believe that this might be the problem. THe double seems to have many holes that go through the entire basket. Is this normal or do we have a deffective pod basket?

mjackson ♦ Melissa,
It actually is a single pressurized basket. I am going to give you a link to a video so you can understand how it works. You need to put the black plastic piece in between the bottom of that basket and the portafilter. Then it will work as it was designed.

Michael Rosso ♦ Jeremy...This brew basket is designed for use in Semi Automatic Espresso Machine. The Titanium uses a self contained brew group, and its programming allows you to program shot sizes. Thanks.
Thanks, but the link provided is for a pressurized double not a pressurized pod/single 58mm Gaggia filter basket. Where does one need to go to the get the pod/single version?

mjackson ♦ Ray,
We for now only have the pressurized double basket for sale. I am not sure how long before we will be able to stock the single as they do make one but it is not being sold yet as a stand alone part. We do sell the regular pod and also a regular single shot baskets. I prefer to make doubles anyways, but we should someday have the single pressurized basket for sale.
Ray Kerley Thank you for the information. I already have the pressurized double basket and also the regular single/pod baskets. Please let me know when you have the pressurized single/pod basket for sale.
I see the double basket under the Parts/Care tab of the site, but can't find the pressurized version of the Gaggia 58mm pod/single filter basket. Please direct me where to go to order the pressurized pod/single basket.

I would like to order the pressurized version of this basket, but I don't see it listed on a web-page. How do I order one?

Michael Rosso ♦ Ray...The pressurized basket is located on our sight under the Parts/Care tab. Thanks
Hello, will this filter basket work with the portafilter from an older Gaggia Coffee? Also, I assume from the title that you can also use this to make single shots and not just for pod use. Thanks!

Michael Rosso ♦ Ryan...This filter basket will fit your Gaggia Coffee. Thanks

mjackson ♦ Good question. This is a non pressurized basket. If you have the correct grind a traditional basket like this can give you a better shot. You do need to make sure you have a grinder that will give you the ability to follow the golden rule ( http://www.wholelattelove.com/articles/the_golden_rule.cfm ). Generally speaking a grinder that is in the 200 dollar and above range. The nice thing about a pressurized basket is it can help you get a good shot where the grind may not be just right. I hope this helps.
