I need to replace my portafilter to my gaggia classic. I think the original is stainless; however, I can only find replacement in Chrome. Do you think the original is Chrome? Does it matter?

techkathy Unfortunately it will not. The pipe that comes from the machine it too thick.

Ed G Sadly there is not a triple shot basket which will work with the Gaggia Bottomless Portafilter.
The plastic spouts of my Gaggia Color broke and since I couldn' t buy just that part, I bought the whole portafilter. The problem is, it's not working properly: the water seems to be coming out of the filter with too much pressure into the left spout and it spills all over (the other side works fine). I have tried not to press the coffee, to unloose a little the screw of the plastic spouts, nothing improves the dripping. Unfortunately I didn' t keep the old Portafilter so I can' t check if it's just the spouts that defective, or if anything else is the problem. Any idea of what could be the problem? Thanks

techkathy Do you have the frothing jet device under the filter basket? It is a small black pin that prevents the coffee from spraying out of the coffee spouts.
4UMPA DITTO!! HAD TO LEARN THE "WET" WAY!!
On my machine, the black plastic pieces you can see inside the ring are now loose - and they fall out, which means the machine leaks. Is there any way to fix this? Replacing the entire part would most likely mean that the replacement will meet the same fate in a few months time.

techkathy The part would need to be entirely replaced. The small black shims come pre-assembled from Gaggia on the retaining ring.
RE: Group Valve Assembly
Two questions: 1) Will this fit the older machine Espresso Gaggia? 2) Does this come with the valve and spring?
Thanks,
Albert

techkathy Albert - 1) Yes. If you have the original Gaggia Espresso (small and either black or white) 2) The valve seat and spring are inside and do come with the assembly.
I received my water softener on a plastic bag, and I noticed a bunch of grainy particles loose in the bag, that I imagine are the crystals that filter the water. Is that normal, is my softener leaking? Cheers

techkathy Gustavo - take the softener out of the bag and see if any additional crystals fall out of the bottom or pointed top of the softener. If they do not then you should be fine.

techkathy Wendy - That pannarello wand is for super super old semi-automatics like the Gaggia Classic and Gaggia Baby . You would need the newer style pannarello wand. Click on the links below. we have a few you can choose from that will fit on your machine:

techkathy Bill - The end has a 16mm female nut on the end. I have some photos that better show what the end of the tube looks like. Send an email to support@wholelattelove.com and I can forward them to you.

DanielCulver The original probably was chrome plated brass like all the Gaggia portafilters I've ever seen. They are very well made and should give many years of good service. If you have pealing or flaking chrome around the lugs just sand smooth. Compared to stainless steel, chrome or brass is far less abrasive to mating surfaces and it is preferred. It is best to have as much of the wear as possible on the portafilter than the group or brewhead given the cost of replacement.
