bernie wasserman Hi techkathyI have done some checking and your method will only get to a maximum of 6 oz's. However, if you select the 2 cup mode the machine appears to double only the liquid. It does not grind any additional coffee. So if you selct any of the presets buttons the default liquid value gets multiplied by two. So in my instance I selct the extra long coffee, which has a default value of 4 oz and then by pressing the 2 cups button I get a 8 oz coffee.thank you for your help.
Can I make macchiatto's with this machine? It can obviously make caps and lattes automatically but I'm wondering if it can make macchiattos too?
A A Phil: By definition, a Macchiato (Marked Espresso) is Espresso with a small amount of steamed/frothed milk. Any super automatic machine is capable of doing such, however the ECAM23450 does not have a dedicated button to do so. If you are looking for a machine that gives a quality Macchiato with the press of a button, then the Gaggia Accademia is a great choice. It comes with a button pre-programmed for just what you are looking for. Below are links to a video of Darren making a Caramel Macchiato and the link to the Gaggia Accademia as well. Are these size specs correct? They seem huge. 43" deep?
mjackson ♦ Dennis,
It is not that large and thanks for catching that. It is 13.5 inches tall. It is also about 17 inches deep and about 9.5 inches wide. I will get that corrected on the website.
Mary Ann Colvin These dimensions are updated in inches under the specs tab.
