How do you know when you have enough grounds with a doserless? I understand it turns on when you put the filter there, does it stop automatically when it's ground out 7 grams? Does it make a mess?

techkathy With a doserless grinder you cam measure out the coffee beans ahead of time and grind them. Most people just eyeball it. The grinder does not automatically stop. The Lux grinder has a deep grounds catch on the front. Any spilled grounds will fall into the tray.

mjackson ♦ Antonieta,
it is hard to say it depends on the type of coffee you want as well as the type of bean you want. You need to adjust it accordingly. A little experimentation and you should be all set. It is capable of doing a great job.

Our Rancilio Silvia can't pull a shot over 14 seconds on the finest grind setting and over 40lbs tamp pressure. It use to do fine but we noticed a steady degradation over the last two years. We've tried cleaning it using Grindz and noticed no significant improvement. Any ideas what's wrong or what we might do to rectify it?

mjackson ♦ Craig,

You may want to think about getting new burrs. That is the only thing I can think of. You may also want to try and do a deeper cleaning of the grinder. I do not know of a way to re calibrate it.

mjackson ♦ Howard,

You can use grindz if you like to make it easy. Her is a link - http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/grindz_box.cfm. Or you can unscrew hopper and then you get to the burrs. You can also take off top plate with hex screws and then remove the nut that holds the Burrs in place so you can get at the burrs. I would try the grinds you will be surprised at how well it works.

This grinder is supposed to have infinite grind adjustment. When I adjust mine to the coursest setting it stops at 7. The hopper has markings up to 10. This is not course enough for some roasts. Is there a reasonable solution?

I have a La Pavoni professional and I am looking for a coffee grinder that will grind the coffee fine enough. So far, I was able to get a wonderful Turkish grind from our grocery store but due to a broken grinder, I cannot grind my coffee there anymore. My research shows that I should get a stepless grinder but they all seem to be so expensive?! And this luxury grinder which you have come up for a stepless grinder has teps as well...
Could you recommend something?
Thank you so much for your help.
I am a coffee lover from germany stuck in starbucks land with no coffee for days now, smile...
My best, I. Kroener

Mike Russo ♦ Ingeborg... Sorry to hear you are out of coffee. To meet your grinding needs and price range I would suggest either the Rancillio Doserless Rocky Grinder or the Rancillio Rocky. The difference between the two grinders would be the dosing option on the Rocky. Any further question please feel free to contact us at Whole Latte Love sales at 1-888-411-5282 option 1. Hoping you enjoy a great cup soon.

this looks like the Rocky. not much review except that one about its inablity to grind in course settings and we're DRIP coffee dirnkers. I don't know how you recommend this product over my earlier querry about the Virtuoso. Trying to get the best for the buck which includes its longevity and the ease of cleaning, which one to go for , Virtuoso, Pasquini lux or the Rocky.

BaristaCorner Hello Manny...In answer to your question, if you are drip coffee drinkers and you are not going to be grinding your beans fine for espresso, the Virtuoso will do just fine. However, if your will be using the grinder for espresso as well, go with the Rocky as your choice. Either one of these grinders is a great value. Thank you, Eric Black

So it must be something about Italians that like to make a mess. Great grinding. Horrible messy.

Get a doser machine if you dont want to clean your entire counter after every cup of coffee.
