Pressurized double filter + pin (Perfect crema filter kit)

I have the classic gaggia and have lost the frothing jet device. When I search your website for this item, it does not appear. How do I order this part? Thank you.

Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket
Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket

I have been using this basket with my Gaggia Baby Twin. It does an awesome job, i get amazing crema with it. My tip is to keep it clean. Over the past year i would sometimes leave coffee in it over night or longer. i started to lose pressure and sometimes the coffee would just drip out. I had good pressure coming out of the group head, so figured it was this basket. I cleaned it with the Calfiza product, also read a tip to put it over an open flame which i did over my gas stove top to burn any coffee residue or coffee grounds (not for too long tho, you can hear air pressure being built up as it escapes and whistles out the single hole). This did end up solving my problem and my pressure is back to normal. i now run water through it and wipe it down when i am done with it at the end of the day

Hi i have just bought some paper filter pods (ESE) for my Gaggia Classic. I have 2 baskets that came with the machine (1 shot and 2 shot). Which basket would you recommend to use with ESE pods.. Trying to work out if I need the pressurized version with the rubber plug (1 hole) or the pod basket version with many holes...? Advice would be great..

Kristen C Riley, you would need to use the pod filter basket with your ESE pods. If you don't already have one, you can find one here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/Gaggia/gaggia_pod_basket.cfm

I just received the classic with mdf so don't need the 2 pressurized baskets. Will just be using the double shot commercial basket. Do I need to use the 2 way pin with that? Do you have a recommended grind setting for the mdf using that basket? Thanks

Mike Russo ♦ Shawn...You do not use the 2 way pin with the commercial basket. I would suggest you start at a setting at number 5 or 7. I hope this information helps. Thanks.

mjackson ♦ Younhee,
The perfect crema device is an older edition of a way to create a pressurized basket. The new system uses different baskets and also a new plastic pin. It works very well. You can order the baskets and the pin as a package, the perfect crema device the old one is no longer available. This video will show you what I am talking about. http://www.wholelattelove.com/videos.cfm?playvidID=345. Call for the other gasket you lost to make sure you get the right part.

Hi, I got a gaggia classic from you a few weeks ago and I manage to loose the small back part (frothing jet device) that goes below  the filter basket, so I need to buy a new one, but i can't find just it.
Is the he frothing jet device included in the gaggia pressurized Filter basket? and is the pressurized Filter basket compatible with the gaggia classic?
Thanks,
Sandro

mjackson ♦ Sandro,
It is actually called a two way pin. It is available and we have lots of them as they seem to get lost a lot. Give us a call and we can get you the piece and I would get a couple of them.

I have a gaggia color and i just can't seem to get a slow shot with good crema. i tried asking for the finest grind at a good coffee shop and it still doesn't work. i ground it on my capresso grinder at the finest and it was a bit better but still not good. will this pressurized filter basket do the trick?? I'm very frustrated here!

thanks - Suzanna

Mike Russo ♦ Suzanna...Congrats on hanging in there. Yes you are correct in trying to get a good consistent fine grind. Keep in mind sometimes coffee shop grinders may need to be calibrated more often (which is why you are having trouble). So the pressurized basket will help (until you get enough money together to buy your own grinder), then you will be ready to become an Espresso purist. I hope this information helps. Happy Brewing and thanks.

Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket
Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket

I have a Gaggia Espresso machine and a Gaggia MM grinder. The only way I can get the thing to run slowly enough is to use 2 scoops of coffee in the single-scoop basket, although depending on the beans (I live in a rural area, where it's difficult to get fresh beans), sometimes it's *too" slow.

When I saw the pressurized filter basket, I thought maybe this would solve my problem. Surely it would run more slowly through a tiny hole than through a lot of tiny holes.

Not!

It actually runs faster through the pressurized basket than it does through the regular filter basket, and there's no way I'd get a good shot with nonfine coffee. (I bought some ground Starbucks French roast because that's all the grocery had, and it's too course; I was regrinding it in a blade grinder.)

Question 1. Why does it run so quickly?

Question 2. In your video, I timed the shots. The first one was 11 seconds after coffee started coming out, and the second one was 17 seconds. Does the black part slow it down? You can't use the black part on the Gaggia Espresso.

mjackson ♦ Gretchen,

You should be able to use the black part. It fits in the bottom of your handle in between the basket and the coffee outlets. It will work. You do need to use the plastic piece or as you discovered it will not work. Please give technical support a call if you have questions. It will work if you use it the way it was designed to work. I hope this helps and thanks for the question.

New Gaggia Classic owner: Why would I use the pressurized filter basket as opposed to the commercial-style basket? Thanks

mjackson ♦ Cyril,

Good question. You will want to use the pressurized basket if your grind is not fine enough to produce a 25 second shpt with the commercial basket. It gives your machien the ability to brew a very good shot even though it may not be the perfect grind. If you have a good espresso grinder say like the Gaggia MDF you would not need the basket. I hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions.

I purchased a Gaggia Espresso Pure Black and unfortunately the small black valve that goes into the filter under the pressurized basket fell into my garbage disposal - while it was running. Do you sell just that small black object? Or is it only sold with this additional pressurized filter basket? Thanks, Chris Brown

We do have the part. It is called the Gaggia two way pin. You are not the first to lose one. You can call and order one and we do have many in stock. They are $5.44 each. Thanks for asking
