My Gaggia Brera brews great coffee, but in the past month or two, about 20% o the time after the grinding cycle, the out of beans indicator light turns on and she dumps the unbrewed coffee grounds into the dispenser. I wash the brew group once per week, which includes cleaning the area above the brew group with a dry toothbrush. If I look down the bypass doser hole during grinding, I can't see any obstructions or issues that would cause the machine to dump the unbrewed coffee grounds. Any thoughts?
Which will you suggest for a perfect shot of espresso? Brera or Jura Ena 7(with Aroma boost)? Cost is no matter, only the better shot! Thanks.
I'm wondering what the normal volume of "waste" water is for the Brera. I realize that there will be waste from condensate and dripping, etc, but there seems to be an awful lot of waste in my machine.
I tested this today, and found the following:
45 mL of water in the drip tray after:
Steaming (1 cycle - about 45-60 seconds)
Brewing 1 shot
Start-up brewgroup purge and steam wand purge were emptied from the drip tray before performing the above test.
Is this normal?
Hi! I am wondering how to clean the metal steaming wand? Do I just pull it apart and rinse it out? Worried that I may damage the parts when pulling it off. Also, what is a normal schedule for cleaning the different components? Wand = every use, brew group = once a week, and descale once a year? Thanks!
Can you please send me the instructions for descaling Gaggia Brera with the Unrnex Cleancaf, lubricating the brew group, and cleaning the grinder? I can't seem to find these instructions in the manual. Thanks!

I've had my machine for about 4 days, and it is working like a charm. My only concern is that the machine makes this thumping noise while it is steaming. At no other setting does it make the noise. After expelling the water I turn the knob to neutral and wait for the lights to be steady. Then I turn the knob toward steam, and there is about a 15 second delay then the rhythmic thumping noise starts and the steam comes with it. I use a filter in the water compartment. If this is normal I don't care. I just want to make sure that there's nothing wrong with the machine or the way I'm using it.

I just purchased my Gaggia Brera and am waiting for its arrival and wondered if there are any particular beans I should use/avoid in this machine?
My wife just got me the Gaggia Brera for my birthday, and I was starting to prepared the machine, I noticed that there was coffee residuals in the brew group. The machine is brand new, so why would I find coffee in the brew group?

My Brera appears to have given up the ghost. Brewed three shots this morning and then it turned off. Unplugged it and plugged it back in and the on/off button glowed twice and then went dark. Just left it unplugged for several minutes and plugged it back in - no glowing light at all now. Reseated power cord, brew group etc but no effect. Any ideas? Might there be a (user serviceable) fuse that could perhaps be the culprit?
techkathy Is the coffee you are using a dark roast or oily? Oily coffees tend to stick together and not fall into the grinding burrs. The machine will then act like it is out of coffee.
