Gaggia Portafilter with Chrome Double-Spout
I need to replace my portafilter to my gaggia classic. I think the original is stainless; however, I can only find replacement in Chrome. Do you think the original is Chrome? Does it matter?

We moved last January and I can't find the portafilter and basket for my Gaggia Classic. Winter's coming on. Does "Gaggia Portafilter with Metal Spouts" include the basket or is it sold separately?

mjackson ♦ Janet,
The basket is sold separately. Give us a call and awe can get one ordered for you .
I have read that this will fit the Gaggia Classic... being a novice, what is the difference between the metal and plastic spouts?? Same price, need to buy one, what are the pros/cons of each? Thanks!

mjackson ♦ J- There really is no difference. I would get the metal if it was me as I like the durability of the metal. I can think of no advantage the plastic ones have.
Does this Portafilter with Metal Souts fit the Baby Gaggia?
I bought the Baby Gaggia in Milano about 30 years ago. It has a cast iron boiler.

mjackson ♦ Michael,
Yes that portafilter should work. I am pretty sure. They have not changed the grouphead as far as I know for a number of years. I have been here a while but as far as I know it will work.
mjackson ♦ Rod,
Yes the portafilter will fit. Unless it is a lever model or the Achillee then it takes a different portafilter. If it is a traditional Gaggia then this portafilter will fit it perfectly.
Will this work with my Gaggia Classic machine? My portafilter handle is broken and I don't know how to put the replacement on, especially since the screw (with the wierd nut-style top) is now completely bent from the last time I fixed the portafilter handle and couldn't get it screwed in tightly.

mjackson ♦ Karin,
Yes these will work. I would say it is time to get a new portafilter handle and this is the correct replacement part. Let us know if you have any more questions.
Hi There,
I recently purchased an old Gaggia machine off ebay. Its called the 'Gaggia Espresso'. I have done a bit of googleing and it looks the same as a 'Gaggia Espresso Delux' but its a cream and dark brown colour.
It did not come with a portafiter.
I'm certain this portafilter would fit but just wanted to check?
Any help would be much appreciated.

mjackson ♦ Jarrod,
Congratulations on your new purchase. It is a nice machine and I am sure you will like it. The handle will definitely fit your machine. Give us a call or order on line and we can get one out for you.
Will this portafilter work with a Baby Gaggia? I purchased the machine back in 1993. If it does fit, would the filter baskets that originally came with the machine work with this portafilter. I attempted to measure the ID diameter and it appears closer to 60mm than 58mm.

Michael Rosso ♦ Rita...I am sorry to say that this portafilter will not work with a Saeco Aroma. Each manufacturer makes portafilters that fit only the machines they produce. Thanks.

DanielCulver The original probably was chrome plated brass like all the Gaggia portafilters I've ever seen. They are very well made and should give many years of good service. If you have pealing or flaking chrome around the lugs just sand smooth. Compared to stainless steel, chrome or brass is far less abrasive to mating surfaces and it is preferred. It is best to have as much of the wear as possible on the portafilter than the group or brewhead given the cost of replacement.
