You need a few things to keep your classic clean. I would get a good descaler/cleaner such as Cleancaf - http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/cleancaf.cfm

or Dezcal - http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/urnex_dezcal.cfm

Dependong on use and how hard your water is you would want to clean/descale about every 10-12 weeks. I would also get a good brush to clean your group head such as the Pallo coffee tool. If you keep up on your cleaning the Classic will last you for years. I hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions.
